1 YOUTH DIVISION EXHIBITS PREMIUM RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. OPEN TO ALL YOUTH 18 YEARS OF AGE AND YOUNGER. 2. All entries must be work of entrant. 3. Entries not listed in any class will not be judged. 4. In agricultural category entrants must have assisted in the production of entry. 5. Where there is only one entry in each class, prizes will be awarded at discretion of judges. For categories not listed, if there are three (3) entries, a class will be added. 6. Entries which do not have the required number of items as listed in the catalog will not be eligible for judging. 7. Remember that farm products should be normal, edible size, unless the category specifies "largest". 8. Each entrant will be limited to one (1) entry in each class. 9. Exhibitors will not be allowed to place their own exhibits on display. The department superintendents will handle this in a manner impartial to all. 10. Entries will be placed Sunday, June 7 (2:00-5:00 p.m.). NO ENTRIES ACCEPTED AFTER 5:00 P.M. SUNDAY. 11. Judging will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June Entries can be removed from the fairground Sunday, June 14 (2:00-3:00 p.m.). 13. No item may be entered which has been entered in previous fairs. 14. Judging Criteria: Exhibitors should be aware of the factors which are universally used in judging fruits and vegetables. Produce should be clean, as free as possible of blemishes or insect damage, normal edible size (unless entered in a class of "largest specimen"), and uniform (if 3 items are exhibited, all should be the same size, shape, and color). If a class specifies that more than 1 item must be exhibited, all entries must contain that number of items. 15. Due to extreme heat in the exhibit building produce deteriorates quickly. Therefore, produce that has started to decay or attract insects will be disposed of as necessary. ALL YOUTH ENTRIES MUST BE ENTERED BY YOUTH NOT PARENTS. Judging will be conducted according to the following regulations in canning and baked foods: A. Standard pint or quart canning jars must be used. B. Rings must be present on two (2)-piece lids. C. Baked foods, jams, jellies, preserves, and butters may be tasted by the judges to determine quality.
