Sub-cut the strips into thirty-six 5 squares. Fabric : Palette Ash ut five 1 x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eighteen 1 x 10 ½ strips. ut five 1 x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eighteen 1 x 9 ½ strips. ut three 6 ¼ x WOF strips. Sub-cut the strips into eighteen 6 ¼ squares. ut each square ut four 2 x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut two 2 x 63 ½ strips. ut four 2 x WOF strips. 4 Jot Page 4 lock Assembly: 1. Place one 5 x 5 Fabric square on the top left corner of one 9 ½ x 9 ½ Fabric A square, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the smaller square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼ away from the sewn seam (Fig. 2) Follow Figure 3 for the seam direction to add a 5 x 5 Fabric square to each of the remaining corners of the 9 ½ x 9 ½ Fabric A square to make one Unit 1 block (Fig. 4). Repeat to make nine Unit 1 block. Sew one 1 x 9 ½ Fabric strip to each side of one Unit 1 block. Sew one 1 x 10 ½ Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the Unit 1 block to make one Unit 2 block (Fig. 5). Sew one Fabric D triangle to one Fabric E triangle along the short sides to make one DE triangle. Sew the F triangle to the DE triangle along the long sides to make one Unit 3 block (Fig. 6). Repeat to make thirty-six Unit 3 blocks total. Sew one Fabric E triangle to one Fabric F triangle along the short sides to make one EF triangle. Sew one Fabric D triangle to one Fabric triangle along the short sides to make one D triangle. Sew the EF triangle to the D triangle along the long sides to make one Unit 4 block (Fig. 7). Repeat to make thirty-six Unit 4 blocks total. Sew one Unit 3 block to the left side of one Unit 4 block to make one Unit 5 strip (Fig. 8). Repeat to make thirty-six Unit 5 blocks total.

5 7. 8. Jot Page 5 Place one 5 ⅞ Fabric G square on top of one 5 ⅞ Fabric H square, right side together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 9). Sew ¼ away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 9). ut the two squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 10) to make two half-square triangles (Fig. 11). Trim blocks to measure 5 ½ x 5 ½ to make two Unit 6 block. Repeat to make thirty-six Unit 6 block total. Fig. 9 Sew one Unit 5 strip to each side of one Unit 2 block. Sew together three lock Ones to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Two and Row Three Sew the three rows together, in numerical order, to make the enter lock. Sew one 2 x 60 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the enter lock. Sew one 2 x 63 ½ Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the enter lock. Sew one 5 ½ x 63 ½ Fabric strip to each side of the enter lock. Sew one 5 ½ x 73 ½ Fabric strip to the top and to the bottom of the enter lock to make the quilt top. Layer and quilt as desired. Sew the eight 2 ½ x WOF Fabric strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half, lengthwise with wrong sides together, and press. ind as desired.
