3 Cutting WOF=Width of Fabric Fabrics A, cut: (1) 25 x 36 (63.50cm x 91.44cm), for bag body Fabric B, fussy-cut: (2) 9 x 12 (22.86cm x 30.48cm), for lower pocket (1) 2 x 12 (5.08cm x 30.48cm), for upper pocket Fabric C, fussy-cut: (3) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF), for straps (2) (6.35cm) squares, for zipper ends 1/4 above and below triangle Fabric D, cut: (1) 25 x 36 rectangle (63.50cm x 91.44cm), for lining Fabric E, cut: (3) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF), for strap lining (2) squares (6.35cm), for zipper end Fusible interfacing, cut: (3) x WOF (6.35 x WOF), for straps Fusible stabilizer, cut: (3) 6 x 18 (15.24cm x 45.72cm) Sewing Note: All seam allowances are 1 2 (1.27cm) unless otherwise noted. Sew pieces right sides together. 1. Following the manufacturer s instructions, fuse (1) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) interfacing strips to the wrong side of each x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric C strip. 2. Sew together the (3) Fabric C strips end to end to form one long strip. Cut to 120 (304.80cm) long. 3. Sew together the (3) x WOF (6.35cm x WOF) Fabric E strips end to end and cut to 120 (304.80cm) long. 4. Using a 1 4 (.64cm) seam allowance, sew the long edges of the Fabric C and E strips together leaving 1 2 (1.27cm) unsewn on both ends. Turn right side out and press. Align the ends of Fabric E and sew them together. Fold one Fabric C end under 1 2 (1.27cm) to wrong side. Slip opposite end of Fabric C strip underneath, being careful not to twist the strap. Edgestitch both sides of strip. 5. Following the manufacturer s instructions, fuse the fleece to the wrong side of the 25 x 36 (63.50cm x 91.44cm) Fabric A rectangle. 6. To make the pocket, sandwich the 12 (30.48cm) zipper between the long edges of the 9 x 12 (22.86cm x 30.48cm) Fabric B rectangles in the following order: Fabric B right side up, zipper wrong side up and Fabric B wrong side up. The zipper pull must be facing the fussy-cut piece chosen for the exterior (Fig. 1). Zipper Fig. 1 xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 7. Using the zipper foot, sew the zipper in place. Fold the fabrics wrong sides together. Press at the seam line. If desired, topstitch along the folded edge. 8. Right sides together, sew the bottom edge of the pocket using a 1 4 (.64cm) seam allowance. Turn right side out and press. 9. Fold the 2 x 12 (5.08cm x 30.48cm) Fabric B strip in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Press. Pin to the other side of zipper, aligning the raw edges with the edge of the zipper tape and matching the fabric patterning to the lower pocket. 10. Using the zipper foot, sew zipper in place. Fold fabric away from zipper. Press. If desired, topstitch the fold. 3 of 5

Center the pocket right side up on front half of the 25 x 36 (63.50cm x 91.44cm) Fabric A rectangle, positioning it as shown in figure 2. 2 Fig Pin the strap onto the Fabric A piece as shown, placing the seamed portion near the center and covering the pocket raw edges by 1 4 (.64cm). 5 14. Center the 24 (60.96cm) zipper between Fabric A and Fabric D rectangles in the following order: Fabric A right side up, zipper wrong side up and Fabric D wrong side up. The zipper pull must be facing Fabric A. 15. Using the zipper foot, sew the zipper in place. Fold the fabric away from the zipper and press. 16. Repeat Steps for the other side of the zipper. 17. Unzip zipper far enough to reach your hand through the opening. 18. Pin Fabric A right sides together at the side seams. Sew. 19. Box both lower corners by folding the side seam on top of the bag center forming a triangle. Stitch a 3 (7.62cm) long line across the triangle base (Fig. 4). Repeat for the other side. 20. Pin Fabric D right sides together at the sides. Sew, leaving a 5 (12.70cm) opening in the middle of one side for turning. 21. Repeat Step 19 to box the Fabric D lower corners. 22. Turn the bag right side out through the lining opening. 23. Stack and fuse the (3) 6 x 18 (15.24cm x 45.72cm) Stabilizer piece together; round the corners slightly. Insert the stack into the bag through the lining opening with the fusible side down and center it in the bag bottom. From the outside, fuse the layers in place along the bag bottom. Slipstitch the lining opening closed, tuck it into the bag and press. 24. Trim the (6.35cm) Fabric C squares 1 4 (.64cm) from the black triangle edges (Fig. 5). Trim the (6.35cm) Fabric E squares to the same shape. 26. Slide the triangle piece over one end of the zipper and hand-stitch in place (Fig. 6). Using a 1 4 (.64cm) seam allowance, sew (1) Fabric C and (1) Fabric E triangle right sides together, leaving the bottom open. Trim the point seam allowance, turn right side out and press. Tuck the bottom seam allowances to the inside. Press. 5 of 5
