3 It's Time to Celebrate! Our quilt show was a huge success! I know you've all been waiting to hear the total numbers for the quilt show! But first, let me say thank you to my committee and to every member who helped in any way. Thank you for making items for the boutique, for selling (or buying) tickets on our opportunity quilt, for making quilts for the Silent Auction, for lending your vintage quilts for the Bed Turning, and most of all for volunteering your time to work at the show! Thank you for entering your beautiful quilts! The talent in this guild is amazing! We had a stunning display, often compared by our visitors to the Dallas and Paducah shows. What an honor! Congratulations to all who won ribbons! $50,000 Profit!!! We are still counting the last bits of expenses and income, and we will have the final report for you soon. We are hovering right at $50,000! Isn't that awesome? Thanks for doing your part to get us there! No complaints, but suggestions of things we can tweak in And speaking of We have scheduled our show for September 27-29th at the fairgrounds! We will start planning after the first of the year. What an amazing quilt show, I m sure we can all agree that all those months of planning and working really paid off! The quilts and displays were so inspiring and turned a rather bland looking old building into a thing of beauty. I hope everyone enjoyed seeing the antique quilts in the bed turning as much as I did. It never fails to amaze me that quilts from years past can tell such a story. Many of them were as pristine as they were all those years ago, and many of them certainly showed their age. Those were the ones that told us how important and loved them were as they were passed down from one generation to the next for so many families. What a treasure their current owners have and will hopefully continue to hand down to quilt lovers in the future. I d sure love to see some of my quilts being loved one hundred or more years after I am long gone! A big THANK YOU to all of the helpers who lovingly held the quilts up and so carefully refolded each one for all five of the presentations. The respect shown for these treasures was certainly noted. Our audiences were so friendly and so impressed and truly enjoyed seeing all the beautiful quilts and that would not have happened without the volunteers that made it possible. I also want to mention the fairground workers who set up the bed and tables before and after each presentation. They were fantastic and so very much appreciated.
