QUILTS OF VALOR (QOV) SEW DAYS: Linda Herget. The next Quilts of Valor Sew Day will be June 16 at the Quilted Corner. (10 a.m.-5 p.m.) Please join for a fun day of sewing. Bring your machine, and essential sewing notions. Our July Sew Day will be Saturday, July 23 at Frontier United Methodist Church from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Breakfast and lunch will be potluck, so bring a dish to share. QUILT SHOW BOUTIQUE: Carole Gardner Let's be thinking about what to make for the Quilt Show Boutique. Last year, it was a successful money maker. During July and August, I would like things turned in to me so the prices can be marked on them and get them ready to go. Entry Form in PDF format at the end of this newsletter. Things to consider: You can donate any homemade item you like. The smaller less expensive things sold best, but do not let that discourage you from doing what you want. Donate as a 75/25 split commission, or a 100% to the guild. Because there will not be vendors at the show, slightly used books and or patterns will be accepted, No magazines Please. Also we will accept nice Quilt shop quality fabric you no longer want. Yardage or fat quarters. Fabric, books and patterns, I would like to be 100% donated to the guild. 2 Opportunity Quilt: Linda Herget. Tickets are available for the Opportunity Quilt! Please remember to pick yours up at the next meeting, if you haven't done it already. Photos of the quilt are also available. Tickets are $1 for 1 ticket or $5 for 6. The winner will be drawn at the end of the Quilt Show on Aug. 27, winner need not be present to win. Remember, for every 10 tickets a member sells, her name goes into a drawing for the Incentive Quilt, which is a smaller version of the Opportunity Quilt, so SELL, SELL, SELL. Speaker in period costume, sod house memorabilia, and quilts from the era. Community Quilt Sew Night Louisa Smith - Color My Way Louisa is the Strips and Curves lady. She will be presenting a program on color and fabric selection. 6 Cheyenne Heritage Quilters May 16, 2016 President Deb O Grady called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Announcements The Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival will be held at The Ranch in Loveland between August 25 and 27. Deb reported that she received a donation of fabric from Washington for Sue Frerich s jail program. Rocky Mountain Creative Quilters will be hosting some workshops. If you re interested, see Deb O Grady. Carolyn McCormick will be teaching her Mother s Favorite class on June 11 and will be held at First UMC. It will be one of her miniature patterns. The cost of the class is $35. Copies of the paper piecing paper can be picked from Frances at the Cheyenne Transit Office. Ice Cream Social Members enjoyed ice cream and socialized for our end of the year celebration. Show and Tell Items were shared by, Cathy James, Donna Dolan, Sue Frerich, Linda Price, JoEllen Maas, Ione Pedersen, Linda Brunner, MaryEllen Little and Sylvia Garofalo Next Meeting: June 20 at 7 p.m., Ann Peterson from Littleton, CO will be presenting her program, History of an Obsessive Quilter. Next Board July 25 at 7 p.m. Linda Herget, Secretary Quilt Show/Bake Sale Carole Gardner ask the guild s input about the bake sale and it was decided that bake goods would only be sold on Saturday (Aug. 27). Items need to arrive before 10 a.m. Rapid City Bus Trip The Torrington Quilt Guild has organized a bus trip to the Rapid City Quilt Show with stops at 3 quilt shops along the way. The cost of the trip is $35. Mary Ellen said there were only a few spots left. Quilt Show/Appraisals Bea Dersham sent around the sign up sheet for quilt appraisals at the quilt show with Cindy Brick. Appraisals on Friday (Aug. 26) will only be scheduled if there is enough interest. Quilt Show/Opportunity Quilt- Linda Herget reminded members to pick up their tickets and that photographs of the quilt were available. Tickets are $1 per ticket or $5 for 6. Quilts of Valor Linda Herget announced the next Quilts of Valor sew day will be Thursday, May 19 at the Quilted Corner. Continued

7 CHQ BOUTIQUE DONATION FORM Quilt Show August Once again we are preparing for the Quilt Show / Boutique. All members are invited to participate by donating something for this sale. There are four ways to do so. Any Questions contact Carole Gardner Donate items and let the guild have 100% of the proceeds. 2. Donate items and you get 75% of the proceeds and the CHQ will get 25%. 3. Hang a quilt in the show and mark it for sale. The 75%/25% will apply to these sales. 4. Donate baked / food item to the SATURDAY bake sale. 100% donation to the guild. We prefer home crafted items, of all price ranges. The smaller items $1.00 to $50.00 seem to sale best, but you can put in any price range you want. There is no limit to the items donated. Since there will not be any venders, you are welcome to donate new fabric, patterns and good used books, etc. These items can be either 100% CHQ or 75% / 25% split. We encourage you to put something in the boutique AND make something for the bake sale on Saturday. {Our success depends on you.} Items need to be turned in ahead of time. Give them to Carole Gardner or Donna Fisher. Or they can be turned in on the Monday night during the Quilt collection time at the church. BAKE SALE ITEMS Please turn these items in at the Boutique on Saturday morning between 8 am and 10 am. All bake sale items must remain wrapped and in the bags, after purchase, until out of the quilt show area. In order to have a decent bake sale, I feel like everyone of us need to donate something. All items not sold needs to be picked up at the boutique on Saturday between 4:30 pm and 5:30pm. If you can not pick up your items, please make arrangements for a friend to pick them up. Quilt show items marked for sale: Exhibitors' will mark the sale price on the information sheet of the quilt. 75% / 25% will apply to this sale. If sold, the purchaser will pay in the boutique. The item will be marked sold--. No quilt will be taken down during the show. After the show, the sold item will be delivered to the boutique, where the purchaser will pick it up on Saturday around 4:30 pm. Purchaser must present the receipt for the item, at the time they pick it up. Name Code # Your code number is your initials plus 3 numbers of your choosing. This code # will be used to identify what items belong to you, so you can get paid for them. The Boutique committee will mark all items with this code. Please list each item with a price, so that can be done. Phone The first column mark 75% / 25%, 100% or Show item. Next is the item, and then the price. You mark a price for everything please. Try to keep all of each --75% / 25%, %, - Show item, grouped together on the list. If you run out of space, use the back and make your own columns. 9 QUILT PICK-UP: QUILTS WON T BE RELEASED BEFORE 5PM ON Saturday August 27, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church. Every effort is made to safeguard each entry, but private insurance is recommended. Your signature on this entry form acknowledges that: 1) neither CHQ nor the First United Methodist Church is liable for any quilt loss or damage: 2) you grant permission for the quilt to photographed for non-commercial uses; and, 3) if you are selling your quilt, CHQ is entitlted to 25% of the proceeds. Signature Date **Only narratives in print will be accepted, not cursive. Please put your name and number on the narrative in case there are any questions. Narratives should include, but not be limited to the following information; Name of pattern used, or if it is an original design. Name of any other person who worked on the quilt (example; another quilted it for you). Name you call your quilt. Please specify if it is all machine or if there is any hand worked involved. What techniques were used (example; turn appliqué or paper piecing).

10 General Club Information Guest Policy Please invite friends to attend meetings. All skill levels and non-quilters are welcome. Non-members may attend two meetings. On the third and subsequent meetings, the non-member must pay $2.00 unless membership dues are paid. If a guest speaker is scheduled, all guests are asked to pay a $5.00 fee Advertisements & Articles for Newsletter Ads and articles must be quilt, craft or sewing related. They must be copy ready. The newsletter editor is not responsible for typing your information. articles, questions or advertisement artwork by the first Tuesday of each month to the newsletter editor. Cost for advertisements is: ¼ page 3 ½ x 4.5 $10.00 Cell Phones We ask that cell phones be silent or off, and that emergency conversations be held out of the meeting room. Meeting Schedule We meet at 7 p.m. the first and third Mondays of most months. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Please feel free to come early and help set up or to socialize. We meet only the first Monday of December and the third Monday of June, July and August. Meetings often include some type of program event or featured quilter, as well as show & tell and access to our library. Show & Tell Guidelines Show one or more finished projects. Share information regarding each piece. Feel free to ask for critique or input. Show & Tell items will be displayed for everyone to view and enjoy during break Meeting Location: First United Methodist Church (located at 108 E 18th Street (between Warren & Central Avenues) Please park in the lot on the north side of the church (Enter from Central or 19th street) and use the North door into the building. Our meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. Someone is usually at the church by 6:30 p.m. before each quilt meeting for those of you that would like a little more time to visit with each other.
