1 John Deer's Adorable Ideas Christmas Ornaments Tutorial Project Materials List: SprayAdhesive Water Soluble Topping (Aqua Mist/Clear Solvy) Water Soluble Backing (Dissolve-Away/ Washaway) Double Sided Fusible Stabilizer (Firm Flex/Stitch n Shape) Ribbon- to hang ornament Appliqué Fabric- your choice Areallycutepicture! *** Be sure to use Same Color Bobbin thread as the top thread when joining the front and back of the designs. Step 1: Hoop a piece of "Dissolve-Away" stabilizer and run the "Outline" stitch. Step 2: "Spray Adhesive" the stabilizer... and place down a piece of double-sided fusible stabilizer "Firm Flex" and run the outline. page 1

2 Step 3: Follow the running stitch to cut out the shape of the ornament......now your "Firm Flex" shape is done. Step 4: Hoop another piece of "Dissolve-Away" stabilizer and run the "Outline" stitch for the first "Window" appliqué Step 5: Before laying down the appliqué cut a hole in the center of the material. page 2

3 Step 6: "Spray Adhesive" the stabilizer and place your fabric within the running stitch outlines and continue running the design file and stop the machine before it starts the satin stitch for the "Window". Step 7: Now is when you will cut just the fabric using the hole you cut in the material before you laid down the appliqué fabric. Step 8: Once your "Window" is cut out, lay down a piece of "Aqua Mist" before completing the satin stitch. page 3

4 Step 9: repeat the process and complete the second (back) appliqué. Step 10: Once both appliqués are finished proceed to cut them out. Step 11: Sew a piece of ribbon onto your "Firm Flex" shape and then cut the end so it will lie down flat for the final steps. page 4

5 Step 12: Using the "Window" appliqué, choose your picture and use it as a template to cut the picture to the ornament shape. Step 13: Place the "back" appliqué on your cut "Firm Flex" shape and iron them together (do not use steam) page 5

6 Step 14: "Spray Adhesive" the "Window" appliqué and put the picture into place......then "Spray Adhesive" the unfinished side of the "Firm Flex" shape and put the "Window" appliqué in place. Step 15: Hoop two layers of "Aqua Mist" and start the running outline stitch. page 6

7 Step 16: Use a little bit of "Spray Adhesive" and align the appliquéd "Firm Flex" shape carefully in place. Step 17: (For this last step you will want to make sure you use the same color bobbin thread as your top thread) Once you start the machine again the design will stitch a loose zig-zag stitch, use your fingers to move the shape if it looks like they might not catch... don't get your fingers too close to the needle! Step 18: Stop the machine after it finishes the zig-zag stitch and lay down another piece of "Aqua Mist", this will help the finishing satin stitch to look clean. page 7

8 Step 19: Once the design is finished stitching, remove it from the hoop and tear away all the excess "Aqua Mist" Now enjoy giving these Adorable Christmas Keepsakes to your family and friends! page 8
