CNC PROCESS Handles manufactured through CNC production are available in stainless steel, brass, Cor-Ten, and painted steel (both liquid and powder paintings). THE PROCESS CNC (computer numerical control) is an automated production process in which machine control commands are assigned to a computer to execute automated production. The CNC process replaces manual operation of machines and results in high precision. Exact dimensions of the part are defined by CAD (computer-aided design) software which create machine directives through CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) software. This information is loaded into the CNC machine and the post processor software transforms these directives into specific commands for the machine to manufacture the specific part. In the 1940s-1950s, numerical control (NC) machines equipped with motorized tools, used a system to follow points directed on punched tape. These machines evolved with computer technology creating CNC machines that have revolutionized manufacturing. Today, CNC machines often incorporate many different tools in a single unit to automatically create parts, while some machines require a person or robot to aid in production. With a highly automated and precise system, CNC manufacturing results in that closely matches the CAD specification, and is capable of producing complex parts. DIE CASTING PROCESS Handles manufactured through die cast production are available in brass and painted steel (both liquid and powder paintings). THE PROCESS Die casting produces through a process in which molten metal is forced under high pressure into a reusable mold cavity. This process results in with a great surface finish and with consistent dimensions. The equipment for die casting was first created in 1838 and the process of die casting is still used today to produce intricate parts at an affordable price when produced in larger quantities. The four-step process to high pressure die casting: 1. Die preparation 2. Filling 3. Ejection 4. Shakeout. Two dies are used to meet in the parting line, the cover die half and the ejector die half. The mold cavity is lubricated to help control temperature and aid in casting removal. The dies are closed and under high pressure, molten metal is injected until the cavity is filled; the pressure is then maintained until solidification of the casting when the dies can be opened to remove the casting and scraps. By using die casting with high pressure injection, the entire cavity fills quickly to create precise parts before any part of the casting has a chance to harden early and create abnormalities. We use an spindle so that from different suppliers can be used. Note: Hardware must first be approved for compatibility. 5
