2 MALAYSIAN RUBBER BOARD (MRB) in conjunction with IRC 3 September Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Malaysia has been widely recognized as a quality natural rubber (NR) producer to rubber consumers all over the world. Globalization has caused trade and investment to be wide open and triggered rapid changes in rubber industries. This spurs Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) research and development (R&D) towards creating a modern and productive natural rubber technologies in order to increase Malaysian Rubber industry competitiveness in the global market. The MRB R&D strategies align very well with the direction of the National Key Economic Areas (NKEAs) which includes rubber sectors as one of the 12 main sectors that have the potential to contribute to the growth of Malaysia economic. To accelerate the growth and development of the rubber industries especially the midstream and downstream rubber sector, emphasis is been given in the area of production efficiency, development of new advanced materials and product diversification. The one-day MRB technical workshop in conjunction with IRC is to create an interactive clinic discussion (A5 program platform) and presentation platform to discuss issue and challenges related to the midstream and downstream sector of rubber industries. 5 SPEAKER PROFILE Dr Mohamad Asri Ahmad Dr Mohamad Asri Ahmad is currently the Head of Technical Services and Equipment Development Unit under the Quality and Technical Services Division (QTSD). He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Polymer Technology from UiTM, Shah Alam and MSc from Queen Mary University of London. In 2006, he obtained his PhD from London Metropolitan University, UK with the thesis entitled Rheological and processing behaviour of black filled rubbers. His research interest and expertise include processing of most rubbers, rheology, product development, physical testing of rubber, technical advisory and actively involved in standard development at both local and international levels. Dr Alan Muhr Dr Alan Muhr graduated in mathematics at the University of Cambridge in 1975 and went on to do a PhD and post-doctoral research at the University of Nottingham on polysaccharides. He was recruited in 1983 by the Malaysian Rubber Producers Research Association (now TARRC) to work with Prof Alan Thomas on abrasion of rubber and its relationship to crack-growth characteristics, but involving also stress-strain behaviour, ageing, friction and lubrication, and the effects of rate and temperature on all of these. Later he worked on the design principles of rubber engineering components, especially load-deflection behaviour and failure. He became Leader of the Engineering Research & Design Unit at TARRC in Laminated rubber isolators, marine fenders, automotive mounts and bushings and structural energy dissipation systems have all featured in his research and publications on applications of rubber in engineering. He co-founded the biennial European Conferences on Constitutive Models for Rubber. He received the Melvin Mooney Distinguished Technology Award of the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society in 2015, and was awarded the Hancock Medal by the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining in.

Prior to his appointment at the MRB, his previous working experiences were custom plastic compounding for medical application and rubber glove processing.

6 Mr Collin Robinson Mr Collin Robinson joined TARRC as Senior Rubber Technolgist in 2013 having spent over 30 years in the rubber products manufacturing industry in senior technical, production and commercial management roles, including running his own business for 9 years. Colin is a regular visitor to Malaysia as part of the A5 industrial support programme that offers free technical support and assistance to Malaysian manufacturers. Dr Asrul Mustafa Dr Asrul Mustafa was appointed as a research officer at the Technology and Engineering Division of the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) in Prior to his appointment at the MRB, his previous working experiences were custom plastic compounding for medical application and rubber glove processing. He holds a PhD degree from the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) and Master degree in Material and Science Technology from the Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Japan. His research interest is the modification of rubber and rubber latex with renewable additives. He actively publishes scientific papers and contributes numerous scientific papers for journals and conferences locally and abroad either as the main author or co-author. Besides his research activities, he occasionally supervises industrial trainees from local universities. In his spare time, he reviews journal submissions for the Journal of Rubber Research (JRR) and international journals such as Biotechnology Resources and Journal of Applied Polymer Science. He is also a volunteer reviewer for Elsevier s books. In the recent years, his hobby as a scientific paper reviewer is extended to the review of Master and PhD theses. Roslim Ramli Roslim Ramli has been working at MRB for 15 years. He earned his MSc. degree in Chemical Engineering from UiTM in He received his BSc. (Hons) in Environmental Chemistry from UKM in He also a holder of Diploma in Chemical Engineering from UiTM and Diploma of Plastics and Rubber Technology from PRIM. He won a gold medal award in ITEX and ITEX2011 and a silver medal award in ITEX2017. He also awarded best presenter award at IC-MAMIS 2017 conference and best technical paper award at Hari Inovasi LGM He owned two patents (granted) and three patents under filling. He has published several journal and conference papers. His research interest are in natural rubber latex vulcanization technology and natural rubber latex foam process

Ratna Sari Dewi Dasril Ratna Sari Dewi Dasril joined MRB in July 2014 and currently is a research officer at Method and Standard Development Unit under the Quality and Technical Services Division.

She has more than ten years of experience in standardisation and is currently the Secretary for ISO/TC 45/SC 1 and ISO/TC 157 at the International Standard Organisation (ISO).

She also acts as the Secretary for three out of seven several technical committees (TCs) under the Industry Standards Committee for Rubber and Rubber Products (ISC N), namely; TC on Rubber and Rubber

7 Ratna Sari Dewi Dasril Ratna Sari Dewi Dasril joined MRB in July 2014 and currently is a research officer at Method and Standard Development Unit under the Quality and Technical Services Division. She has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Industrial Chemistry and Master of Science in Chemistry from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She has more than ten years of experience in standardisation and is currently the Secretary for ISO/TC 45/SC 1 and ISO/TC 157 at the International Standard Organisation (ISO). Nationally, she is also responsible for the management of the national standardisation infrastructure for the scope of rubber and rubber products, on behalf of the Department of Standards Malaysia. She also acts as the Secretary for three out of seven several technical committees (TCs) under the Industry Standards Committee for Rubber and Rubber Products (ISC N), namely; TC on Rubber and Rubber Products, TC on Tubing and Hoses and TC on Latex Products. Nur Shuhada Azman Nur Shuhada Azman is currently research officer in the Quality and Technical Services Division, MRB. She obtained a Bachelor Degree (Hons) in Petroleum Chemistry from Universiti Putra Malaysia in Her research areas include technical revision and harmonization of standards and production of PT materials. Dr Rosmahani Dr Rosmahani joined MRB in 2001 as a research officer in Material Characterization Unit (MCU/UPB) with the responsibilities to carry out some aspects of method development work pertaining to extractable and antigenic protein analysis of natural rubber latex gloves as well as to oversee the daily running of the protein and powder testing laboratories. Apart from that, she also in charge of registration, soil, plant, fertilizer and ad-hoc testing labs in MCU. In 2013 she was appointed as the Manager of MRB Global Testing and Consultancy for Rubber Centre (G-TACR). She holds a PhD degree from the Loughborough University, UK in Analytical Chemistry. Her current work relates to chemical analysis of rubber and rubber products, method development of analytical chemistry related test particularly using liquid chromatography technique or related separation science.

Gail Reader Gail Reader works for the Market Intelligence and Promotion Unit at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre (TARRC), the UK laboratory of the MRB.

8 Gail Reader Gail Reader works for the Market Intelligence and Promotion Unit at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre (TARRC), the UK laboratory of the MRB. After obtaining her BSc in chemistry from King s College, London University, Gail worked for the Royal Society of Chemistry in London and Cambridge as a technical editor on their inorganic chemistry journal Dalton transactions. She joined TARRC in 1991 as technical editor of the journal Rubber Developments. She became responsible for TARRC s project on the promotion of the Malaysian rubber industry in the West, as well as the services of Rubber consultants, by organising participation in exhibitions, conferences and events throughout Europe and North America. Under this project, much of TARRC and Rubber Consultants promotional and technical marketing material is also produced by the Unit Syuhaizat Ali Syuhaizat Ali is presently heading the Regulatory & Quality Assurance Programme Unit (RQAU) and Manager of Product Certification Secretariat at the Malaysia Rubber Board (MRB). He graduated with a B. Eng (Hons) in Chemical and Process from the University of Newcastle, UK, and obtained his Master of Science (Strategic Quality Management) from the University of Portsmouth, UK. Prior to his appointment as the Head of RQAU in February, he served as Deputy Manager of Product Certification Secretariat, Secretary and Committee Member to numerous internal and external committees related to quality control and certification. Syuhaizat also provide consultancy from time to time to government agency and industry that keen on product certification.
