3 Speakers Keynote: Maureen Reitman, Exponent As Corporate Vice President, and Principal Engineer and Practice Director Polymer Science & Materials Chemistry at Exponent, Dr. Reitman s expertise includes polymer and composite technology, mechanics of materials, adhesion science, fiber mechanics, history and technology of plastics, and material failure analysis. She is skilled in the development and use of testing tools and methods and has applied them to plastic, rubber, textile, metal, glass, ceramic, and composite materials and systems. She is experienced in major aspects of product development, including materials selection, formulation, scale-up, end-use testing, failure analysis, certification procedures and issues related to intellectual property. Dr. Reitman is a member of the Board of Directors of the Medical Plastics Division and the Failure Analysis and Prevention Special Interest Group of the Society of Plastics Engineers as well as an active member of two Underwriters Laboratories Standard Technical Panels, addressing Polymeric Materials (UL 94, UL 746, UL 1694) and Appliance Wiring (UL758). Steve Schick, Teel Plastics Inc. Steve is the Director of New Product and Process Development at Teel Plastics. Prior to Teel, he was Director of Operations and Technology at Poly Vinyl Company and Engineering Manager at Bemis Manufacturing. Steve has over 30 years of experience in the development of products and processes using over 50 different polymers. Steve has three process patents and has been a presenter at ANTEC and various SPE Polymer symposiums. Steve is on the SPE National Extrusion Board, were he serves as Secretary, and the Product Design and Development Division Board. Steve is a graduate of ACME (American College of Manufacturing Engineering) in Tool and Die Design and Plastics Mold Design and the University of Wisconsin System focusing in Business. Steve seeks out unique and challenging business opportunities for his team to successfully develop at Teel. Larry Acquarulo, Foster Corporation Larry is the founder and CEO of Foster Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of critical polymer compounds for medical devices and drug delivery. Larry received a Bachelor s degree in Plastics Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, followed by a master s degree in Material Science from The University of Connecticut, a PhD in Engineering Management from Kennedy Western University, Thousand Oaks, CA, and a CPD in Business Strategy from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Larry has six U.S. and international patents in the field of Nano composites, cross-linkable polymers, lubricated and drug-filled polymers for medical device, and has published over one dozen technical papers in

Under his leadership, Foster Corporation has become a world leader in biomedical polymer compounding and recipient of the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 award (2011, 2012 & 2013) and the Marcum Tech Top 40 (2010, 2011, 2012 & 2013). Charlie Martin, Leistritz Extrusion As President/General Manager of Leistritz Extrusion, Charlie is responsible for the management of a company that provides manufacturing equipment and engineering services to the plastics, medical and pharmaceutical industries in the USA and around the world. Extensively published in trade publications, textbooks and journals, Charlie has delivered 200+ technical presentations at wide-ranging international events, and is the co-editor of the textbook Pharmaceutical Extrusion Technology. He has 2 extrusion related patents. Charlie currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Extrusion Division, the Polymer Processing Institute at New Jersey Institute of Technology, and also on the Technical Advisory Board for Teel Plastics in Baraboo, WI. Previously he has held the Technical Program Chairman and Chairman positions for the SPE Extrusion Division. Charlie earned his undergraduate degree from Gettysburg College, and an MBA from Rutgers University. Liam Burns, Arburg Inc. Liam is the Sales and Engineering manager for Arburg in the mid west area. Arburg is a family owned German manufacture of Injection molding machines with related robots and additive manufacturing machines. Liam has been in the field of injection molding since the age of 16 when he left school to start on a 4 year injection molding apprenticeship at DRG Plastics, Hereford, UK, Europe s largest packaging company at the time. During this time he also completed a HNC in production engineering at Worcester (UK) University. After completing his apprenticeship Liam worked as Process and Molding engineer for several years at DRG and later Sandretto (Italian injection molding press maker). He was transferred to the USA in 1993 by Sandretto to support Sandretto USA. Liam continued his role as a process engineer and eventually took on the role as the Technical Manager at Sandretto USA. In 2001 he joined Negri Bossi USA as general manager to open their USA office in. Finally in 2014 he joined Arburg USA where he now supports Arburg customers throughout the Mid West.

5 Speakers continued Bob Bessemer, The Conair Group Bob has worked for several downstream plastics extrusion equipment manufacturers over the past 35 years both with engineering/development and sales. With major focus on developing, sizing, and cutting equipment specific to medical and pharma applications, Bob has 6 patents. A major goal has been to better control the variables of the extrusion process and eliminate the so called Black Art He has a degree from Penn State University for business administration, but maintains a focus on engineering and development. Bob has written many papers and delivered seminars to the industry to help advance technology. Christian Herrild, Teel Plastics Inc. Christian has a diverse background in the plastics and chemical fields. He currently acts as Teel s Director of Growth Strategies. He researches and evaluates new markets and technologies for Teel and helps set Teel s strategic plan. In addition, he manages the branding and marketing efforts for Teel. Prior to his current position, Christian was Director of Sales and Marketing for Teel Plastics and managed its sales force and customer service area. Christian works closely with Teel s technical team in this role, including new product launches with key customers. Christian also serves as in-house counsel for Teel and handles nondisclosure agreements, contracts, sales agreements, and licensing. He graduated cum laude from University of Wisconsin Madison Law School in 2012 and earned his MBA from the UW School of Business, with a specialization in Entrepreneurial Management, in In addition, he has a strong technical background, with undergraduate degrees in both Mathematics and Chemistry from Marquette University, where in won several awards for his chemistry work as an undergraduate. Prior to his advanced schooling, he spent about two years as an industrial synthetic chemist working primarily with polynucleotides.
