We really missed you if you were unable to attend our annual Christmas Dinner last Thursday evening at the beautiful La Cima Club in Irving, Texas. We were served scrumptious appetizers by the staff, and a delicious dinner buffet with an unbelievable view from our dining hall! I am so proud to advise that our charity of choice this year is Wounded Warrior Project. WWP is such a worthy charity and a veterans organization that provides a variety of services for wounded veterans of military actions since September 11, WWP s vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation s history as it works to raise awareness and enlist the public s aid for the needs of severely injured service members! As of today, DALWORTH will make a contribution totaling $1,144; and it is not too late to make a contribution to this needy cause. Please phone me at or me at djames@comstockresources.com if you are interested in making a contribution before the end of the year. Don t forget your contribution is a tax deduction. DALWORTH S vision this year was to provide excellent education programs to our members and provide an opportunity for larger participation of our members by incorporating luncheon meetings throughout the year. Despite the fact that the oil and gas industry is going through a depressed time, DALWORTH has had one of our most successful years in history. That success is due to our members participation and attendance of our programs and the meetings we offered this year. Thank you to each of you for your support! I would like to express a sincere thank you to each and every member of our 2015 Board for their many contributions of time, talent, and hard work this year. 2 DALWORTH MEETINGS A WORD FROM THE 1ST VICE PRESIDENT DALWORTH held its fourth 2015 regular meeting on Wednesday, October 14th. Our speaker was Roger E. Beecham, Senior Counsel of Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller, LLP. Mr. Beecham s presentation centered on the oil and gas title opinion and gave us all additional insight on some of the varied documents reviewed by the title examiner while preparing the Opinion. Mr. Beecham also spoke about the title origins of the North Texas area which was quite interesting and informative. 4 JACK TALMAGE NORTON It is with a heavy heart that the members of DAL- WORTH pay tribute to Jack Talmage Norton, who died peacefully at his home in Amarillo, Texas on Saturday, December 19, Those of us who had the pleasure of working with Jack knew him as a man who always had a smile on his face. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always a kind word for us. Jack earned the utmost respect from his business associates in the oil and gas industry. Jack was born on March 8, 1928 in Coleman, Texas to Allen and George Norton. His early childhood was spent in Wichita, Kansas. He moved to Dallas, Texas with his family in his teen years and graduated from Highland Park High School in 1946, where he played in the offensive backfield on the 1945 Championship Football Team. He continued his education at SMU, graduating in 1951 with a BA in Geography. He was a member of the SMU Letterman s Association. Jack was a lifeguard at the University Park Pool in the summers and was known for driving a 1942 Jeep Willys that is still in the family today. Jack also joined the Naval Air Force Reserves. Upon graduating from SMU, Jack began working for Mobil Oil Corporation and worked over 44 years for the company. Jack was a charter member of NADOA (National Association of Division Order Analysts). He was an original member of the Board of Directors of NADOA in 1974 and served as Board Advisor in 1977, Vice President in 1976, and President in Jack retired from Mobil in Jack and his wife, Linda, moved from Dallas to Amarillo, Texas in Jack was married to Carolyn Clark Norton, who preceded him in death. Jack and Carolyn had two sons, Christopher S. Norton (Susie) and Gregory M. Norton. Jack is survived by his wife, Linda; grandchildren include Mitchel M. Norton, Martha Claire Norton and Jerzy C. The Institute Committee will meet a minimum of three (3) times next year. In an effort to reduce travel costs for the institute committee, we will be meeting in conjunction with the NADOA Board meetings.
