1 Central Kentucky AGA Newsletter August 2016 President s Message Phil Nally I would like to thank you for the opportunity to serve as Central Kentucky Chapter AGA President this year. This will be my third term, having served in 1989 and For those who don t know me, I ve been active in the chapter almost 30 years, and have served in most chapter offices. I have been fortunate to serve as the Southeast Region Vice-President, in 2007 and again in The Southeast Region covers chapters in Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and Tennessee. I also was part of AGA s National Executive Committee from , serving as the Senior Vice-President for Regional Services, working with AGA s Section IV, which includes the Capital, South Atlantic, and Southeast Regions. AGA has been very rewarding in both my professional and personal life. My year as President began with training in April at the Sectional Leadership Meeting in Baltimore, where 175 chapter and regional leaders met with national leaders to learn about the structure of AGA and share ideas to better our chapters. Dr. Jannett Bradford, this year s RVP, is very enthusiastic about working with the chapters in our region. She is planning to host the Regional PDT in her home area of Brunswick, Georgia, in the Spring. Brunswick is south of Savannah, so I know some of you will want to make the effort to attend. The week of July 17th was spent in Anaheim, California, along with 1,800 members of my AGA family at AGA s Annual Professional Development Training. The PDT offers a great opportunity to learn about the latest activity in Government Financial Management, visit with old friends, and make new ones. Josh Winfrey, a Young Professional member from our chapter, was selected to serve on the Host Committee. Our chapter donated a basket for the Community Service raffle and over $18,000 was raised for AGA s Community Service efforts. Locally, we have an exciting training opportunity on August 29 to hear Diane Edelstein update us on Uniform Guidance. This training offers eight CPE hours and will take the place of our regular August chapter meeting. We will also have our 25 th Annual Accounting and Auditing update in October. Also, Program Chair Lisa Lunceford has a great year scheduled for our monthly meetings! I m excited for the upcoming year. I hope you can advantage of the many training opportunities the Central Kentucky AGA has to offer. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

In June, Central KY AGA was applauded by the National AGA organization for submitting a Citizen- Centric Report that provides accountability and transparency to other chapters as well as its members. The National AGA encourages governments at all levels to improve how financial and performance information is presented to taxpayers.
