1 THE KCI TEAM: BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARIES Nicole Nakoneshny Senior Vice President, Strategy An experienced development professional, Nicole Nakoneshny brings two decades of experience in the non-profit sector to the KCI Team. Fluent in both English and French, her expertise includes organizational audits and assessments, strategic planning, development of revenue generation strategies as well as communications. During her time with KCI, Ms. Nakoneshny has held various positions and worked on a multitude of projects. In her current role, Ms. Nakoneshny works with a variety of different clients from all sectors with a focus on strategic planning, revenue generation planning, organizational capacity assessments and program analysis. Her client list on these projects includes the United Way/Centraide Canada, York University, Lakehead University, Trillium Health Centre Foundation, University of Waterloo, College of the North Atlantic, Sheridan Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning, Alberta Cancer Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association and the National Gallery of Canada among others. She has also provided strategic counsel to McMaster University as they were planning their $400 million fundraising campaign and York University in the planning of their $500 million campaign Impact: The Campaign for York University. In addition, she served as Interim Executive Director of Advancement for Branksome Hall. She began her career at KCI as Campaign Director of the highly successful campaign for the Cornwall Community Hospital Foundation, which surpassed its $10 million goal by more than $2 million. In addition, Nicole serves as Editor of KCI s flagship publication, Philanthropic Trends Quarterly. Prior to joining KCI, Ms. Nakoneshny held the positions of Development Specialist at the University of Manitoba s I.H. Asper School of Business, Assistant Director of Development for the University of Toronto s Joseph L. Rotman School of Management and Campaign Division Director for the United Way of Winnipeg. An active volunteer, Ms. Nakoneshny has served as a talking books narrator for the Canadian National Institute for the Blind for twenty years. Nicole is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Tim Horton Children s Foundation. Ms. Nakoneshny holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Manitoba.

2 Louise Logan Senior Counsel Louise Logan is the Founder and President of Logan & Associates, a company focused on enabling leadership, public policy and strategy to scale impact for social change. Louise holds a Juris Doctor, a BA, and is a graduate of the Executive Program at the Ivey School of Business. A strategic and innovative leader, her professional experience includes senior executive roles in social change organizations, public policy, economic development, and health care. Most recently, Louise was inaugural President & CEO and architect of two organizational mergers in the non-profit sector, now taught as case studies at Canadian business schools. Past positions also include Vice-President & Chief Review Officer, and Director General of Policy and Regulation at WorkSafeBC. In this role, Louise served as Chair of the Public Hearings on Environmental Tobacco Smoke, which resulted in regulations that banned smoking in British Columbia workplaces. Louise is an active volunteer and expert advisor to federal and provincial governments. In 2016, she was appointed as a member of the Rowan's Law Advisory Committee by the government of Ontario. The Committee is statutorily mandated to make recommendations on how to reduce concussions experienced by children and youth in organized sports and school settings. Louise is a member of the expert advisory committee to the Public Health Agency of Canada s national concussion strategy, and is also currently involved with MaRS in the creation of a national Pro Bono Network for Canada

3 Celeste Bannon Waterman Senior Vice-President, Research & Analytics Ms. Bannon Waterman is uniquely suited to her role as Senior Vice-President, Research and Analytics. She brings a diverse set of skills and expertise, ranging from comprehensive data analysis, rigorous topical and prospect research, through to the development of strategic plans for support services that align with overall campaign objectives. Drawing on her distinct skill set, Ms. Bannon Waterman is developing new and innovative research methodologies and services for KCI s Research & Analytics department. Bringing expertise in the full spectrum of research and analytics techniques, Celeste customizes solutions and translates complex data to help clients focus their resources, understand their unique constituency base, and identify potential new donors. Since joining KCI, Celeste has worked with many organizations across Canada, including Kid s Help Phone, CARE Canada, the Canadian Red Cross, SickKid s Hospital Foundation, Lakehead University, the University of Manitoba, Royal Columbian Hospital Foundation, Trillium Health Partners Foundation, the Canadian Lung Association, the Crohn s & Colitis Foundation of Canada, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Vancouver Aquarium on data analytics and research related projects. Prior to joining KCI, Ms. Bannon Waterman began her career as an information systems specialist, eventually bringing her expertise in data management to support advancement at the University of Guelph. During her time there she was instrumental in the design and programming of the University s custom-built alumni information management enterprise database system. She held progressively senior positions, taking on management of functions including prospect management and research, gift receipting and financial services, records management, human resources support, communications support and event management. Her career at the University of Guelph culminated in her role as Executive Director, Advancement Services where she lead the integration of three formerly autonomous departments into one cohesive unit, responsible for providing all support functions within the Alumni Affairs & Development Department. Throughout her career, Celeste has brought her strength in data management, research and analysis to bear to help inform decisions and strategic plans that increased efficiency, improved service delivery and aligned supporting operations with overall strategic objectives. Ms. Bannon Waterman holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Guelph and a Certificate in University and College Administration from the CHERD Center at the University of Manitoba.

4 Marnie A. Spears, BA, C.Dir. - President and Chief Executive Officer With an impressive track record in each of the corporate, public and charitable sectors, Marnie Spears has played an integral role in making the firm Canada s largest and most successful fundraising consultancy. As President & CEO, Marnie has expanded KCI s client base, developed new client services and established a highly successful Executive Search Division. She was also instrumental in the creation of KCI s Philanthropic Trends Quarterly publication and serves as Chair of the Philanthropic Trends National Advisory Board. Prior to her appointment as KCI s President and CEO, Ms Spears served as the firm s President and Chief Operating Officer from 1995 to Under Marnie s leadership, KCI has experienced unprecedented growth, further solidifying its position as Canada s leading fund development firm. With expertise in human resource management, complex problem resolution, leadership coaching, and fund raising strategies, Ms. Spears also provides value-added counsel to KCI clients in all sectors. She is a sought after coach and advisor to institutional leaders and senior development professionals across the country. Before joining KCI, Ms. Spears was best known throughout the Canadian development community for her ground-breaking work as a Senior Officer at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. In this capacity and as a member of the University s Executive Committee, she was responsible for the planning and execution of short- and long-term fund raising strategies for McMaster, including the $90 million Centennial Campaign, the development of alumni programming, and the planning and implementation of community and government relations. Ms. Spears is widely known as a leader and mentor in the growth of the development profession in Canada. In her position as the inaugural President of the Canadian Council for Advancement of Education (CCAE) and as a member of the Executive Committee of one of its founding partners, the Canadian Association of Education Development Officers (CAEDO), Ms. Spears spearheaded the establishment of one of Canada s most outstanding professional associations in the non-profit sector. In 1993 she was recognized for her leadership as the recipient of the CCAE Distinguished Service Award. A leading expert in Canadian philanthropy, she is a sought after speaker and presenter in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. A graduate of The Director s College, Ms. Spears received her Chartered Director s designation in February 2006, and participates as a guest faculty member of that program. Additionally, she has completed further governance training through the Human Resources and Compensation Committee Certified Program. In 2012, Ms. Spears received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal at Rideau Hall in recognition of her contributions to Canada in the field of philanthropy and volunteerism. Additionally, in 2012, Ms. Spears received the Association of Fundraising Professionals (Greater Toronto Chapter) Lifetime Achievement Award.
