Rahul Varma Although the environment is every ones concern and certainly "we have not inherited this world from our ancestors but just borrowed it from our children" thus it is our duty to hand it over, if not in a better way but in the same way as we got it. In order to discuss such issues of concern major stakeholders of the Green Shipping Summit gathered at the 2nd Edition of the Green Shipping Summit 2018 organized by Littoral Communications Pvt. Ltd (LCPL) to deliberate on the most pressing concern for the operating business in the most environmentally friendly way. Green Shipping Summit is one of the leading platform for discussion and debate amongst industry leaders across the spectrum of the ever improving concern for maintaining the sanctity of Mother Earth and sustainable development. This event marks the 2nd edition of Green Shipping Summit, The Most Environmental International Shipping Event. The day started with Introduction Speech on behalf of the Organizers by Independent Director of LCPL Capt. Rahul Varma, Founder Ally Maritime & Legal Services, who summarized the importance of the conclave and the issues to be deliberated for the chosen topic by the organizers during the day by various esteemed speakers. An environmental man who has contributed extensively for Green Ship Recycling in Alang and development of human skills through free training to Alang Recycling Yard workers he was particular about continuous development as the mantra for all of us. The esteemed guest Shri Sabyasachi Hajara was requested along with Shir. Mehernosh Shroff and Capt D.K. Singh to light the lamp. 2nd Edition

Sabyasachi Hajara, Former MD SCI, who reminded us of the importance of the sustained development and UN goals for the better environment in years to come. He highlighted that Shipping was still the most environment friendly mode of transport when considered that most of the world goods moved through ships. He reminded us of the Social responsibility for Sustainable development which should be the primary thought for any business to be undertaken. The next Address was by Shri Mehernosh Shroff who explained the critical details of how the unforgettable oil spill clean-up of MSC Chitra was successfully carried out by us off Mumbai Coast and thus deliberating on the point "Can we do the largest ocean tier II clean up at the lowest cost using Indian Material & Method "? The next Address was by Shri Kunal, IRS Surveyor, on "SOX Emission and IMO Regulations", he highlighted how the marine industry is grappling with the need of the hour for the new IMO regulations and the road ahead with new fuel, fuel additives and methodology which is set to bring a large change how the future vessels will run. He hoped that our oil companies will also be able to take up the challenge for providing alternatives to the fuel that would be required to comply with the regulations. The next esteemed speaker Mr.Dhruv Kumar, Curriculam manager Sr.Lecturer, Researcher at University of Strathelyde Sr. Marine Engineering, Faculty of Nautical Science, spoke about the long steps being taken in the "Autonomus Shipping & Unmanned Vessels - Future of Shipping, and spoke in detail about the engineering advancement. However, he was cautious and explained that human intervention at critical juncture may still be the key to success to "automation"

3 13th April - 19th April, 2018 Thalassic Post 3 The green shipping india nd Edition This was followed by a healthy panel discussion that ensured the audience was well involved in improving their learning and making the best use of the opportunity to interact with the esteemed speakers. This was followed by the networking lunch. After the delicious lunch it was the turn of an auspicious Inaugural function of "Sea Shines Maritime Association" and Introduction speech about the Association by Shri Mukesh Gupta, Chairman Sea Shine Global highlighting the various welfare activities the association plans for the seafarers and promote safe and ef cient shipping. The next esteemed speaker was Shri L.K.Panda, Ex.Nautical Advisor, Govt. of India, who highlighted the "Prevention of Marine Pollution on the Coast of India - Our preparedness" and made some very important suggestions to take forward in line with the improving technology and methodology that should be adopted by our country to combat oil pollution emergency. After this there was as usual a very lively interactive session by Shri. Zarir Irani, Vice President, Global International Institute of Marine Surveying, (IIMS), Chairman of the board of Directors of Constellation Maritime Services LLC. He deliberated on the success of last voyages and "Importance of Certi cate of Approval (COA) & Warranty Inspection for Recycling." It was the sharp eye of the Surveyor carrying out such inspections which ensured that the safety of the vessel is not comprised at any time during the voyage and give suitable recommendation as required to ensure they are economically viable for such voyage.

The next speakers used a unique way of interactive session of communication which had lively interactive session with the audience. The panelist were : 1) Shri Sunil Parker, CEO, EPSCO India Pvt Ltd., on Asbestos Awareness 2) Shri Denis D'souza, Principal Surveyor, Global Maritime Consultant & Surveyors ltd., Environmental Friendly Oil Cleaning Solutions 3) Shri Chirag Bhimani, Dy.Environmental Engineer Gujrat Pollution Control Board, Environmental Management- Status of Ship Recycling Industry The summit was a grand success. Delegates reaped the opportunity to network. It formed the right platform for industry leaders to meet, interact and share knowledge on combating the challenges in the offshore market. Prabhakar Murthy The green sea initiative undertaken and co-ordinated by Litoral Communications Pvt. Ltd. and actively sponsored by the newly launched Seashine Global Maritime Association, saw a fruitful and a conspicuously successful day. The seminar, GREEN SHIPPING INDIA 2018 held at the impressive hotel Orchid, Mumbai, on 6th of April 2018, was indeed one of the most needed wakeup calls of contemporary times in respect of clean, pollution free seas. To that end it checked all the tick boxes in achieving this objective at the end of the day. The highlight of the day was the launch of a new welfare o r g a n i z a t i o n, ' S E A S H I N E G LO B A L M A R I T I M E st ASSOCIATION'. Incorporated on 1 March 2018 by Shri. Mukesh Gupta, the association is essentially a nonpro t organization aimed at providing assistance to Indian seafarers in times of their need and improve signi cantly employment rate of Indian seamen worldwide to ten percent within the foreseeable future. The Notable Directors of Seashine Global Maritime Associations are Shri. Raja Vaiz, Managing Director, Littoral Communications Pvt. Ltd. and Capt. Ashish Shukla, Managing Director, S.M.Ship Management Pvt. Ltd. Mr.Shakeel Ahmed - Managing Director, Seven Seas Navigation Pvt. Ltd., Capt.Rajendra Singh, S.L Maritime Academy Pvt. More The association plans to achieve this by enrolling into the scheme crew management companies, Maritime Training Institutions and DG approved medical practitioners. The association also intends to participate in the policy making for the seafarers with government bodies. The attendees were briefed about the association during the seminar eloquently by Capt. Prabhakar Murthy, Director. He also highlighted the fact, Shri. Mukesh Gupta was already engaged in philanthropic acts such as providing hostel rooms to 300 seamen at charity prices as also recently launching an MTI called RM Maritime Academy.
