We have an excellent ready program for you, and there are two special features I want you to be aware of. Our keynote speaker is CAPT Joshua Reynolds of the U.S. Coast Guard. CAPT Reynolds role is Officer in Charge, Marine Inspection for Production and Drilling units in the Gulf of Mexico. His keynote is "Collaboration to Promote Safe DP Operations". Safe DP operations are critical to incident free oil & gas operations. While the Coast Guard is working to develop minimum regulatory standards that would apply to the U.S. OCS, minimum safety regulations are only one aspect of promoting safe DP operations. CAPT Reynolds will speak about the potential for industry/regulator collaboration to develop anonymous lessons learned to help achieve safe DP operations outside of the regulatory environment. Another special feature is a unique panel discussion on a long standing DP problem. Modern position reference sensors deliver high performance but there are still too many DP incidents where position reference sensors were a significant factor. A panel session of stakeholders will explore the root causes of such DP incidents, and consider what design or operational themes could be used to deliver better results. The panelists are members of the DP Control System community, position reference sensor community and inertial navigation system community. There is opportunity for the overall DP community to submit questions and comments that will be used to develop the discussion (before the end of September submit your questions or comments on the DP Committee website -positioning.com/panelcomments/ ). This unique panel discussion is expected to be very interesting, provide lessons learned experience and may lead to agreement on useful steps to address the issue. The Dynamic Positioning (DP) Committee of the Marine Technology Society will hold its 19th Annual Conference October 13-14, 2015 at the Westin Memorial City Hotel in Houston. Over 400 attendees from around the world attended in 2014, making this one of the most successful conferences to date. The DP conference is internationally recognized as the leading annual professional symposium covering the latest changes, developments and technology pertaining to dynamic positioning. Attracting an International audience of DP professionals, world-class experts present cutting-edge papers on the latest technology and developments associated with Dynamic Positioning, while DP manufacturers and service companies exhibit their products and services. MTS DP Committee is pleased that the keynote is being delivered with the focus on collaboration, as it is aligned with the platform for collaboration that the Committee has been successful in providing for Industry to enable delivery of Safe and Incident Free DP Operations. P A N E L D I S C U S S I O N THE DP 2015 Conference will include a Panel Discussion. This will take the place of the final Session of the day on Tuesday October 14. Below are examples of panel session themes that will be addressed: Technology advances in acoustics, GNSS and Inertial aided navigation has resulted in better accuracy, reliability and integrity of position information from position reference sensors. Is the full potential of such technological advances being realized to reduce the potential for DP loss of position incidents due to Position reference systems? Are legacy interfaces and traditional ways of processing position reference information in the DP control system hindering realizing the full potential of technological improvements? Are the interfaces between PRS and DP systems making good use of all available data and quality metrics including integrity of data that are available with modern technology and advent of inertial aiding systems? With the increasing application of Inertial Aided Systems, should the DP system use the reported position error rather than computing it internally?

5 C O M M I T T E E C H A I R P E R S O N S P O T L I G H T Following service in the U.S. Marine Corps, Steve joined Racal-Decca Marine as a Field Engineer for Radar and Navigation systems in He worked as a Radar and Navigation Field Engineer in Florida, New York, and New Orleans until 1997, when Racal Marine was sold to Litton Marine Systems, following which he joined Racal NCS in Houston Texas, and continued to work on navigation, positioning and survey systems. From 1998 until 2001, Steve worked in several roles at Racal NCS, as a Senior Engineer, Technical Manager, and Business Development Manager for Survey and Positioning Services. In 2001, Racal NCS became Thales GeoSolutions and Steve became Americas Regional Manager Positioning Services, and managed the SkyFix and LandStar DGPS business units in the Americas including all commercial, operational and technical support activities for the business unit, until Thales GeoSolutions was sold to Fugro late in He continued in the same role at Fugro Chance until June-2004 when he left Fugro to Join Subsea 7 as VERIPOS Regional Manager Americas. Following the successful July, 2012 spin-off of the Veripos Business Unit from Subsea 7, Steve became Vice President - Americas and continued to run the VERIPOS GNSS Positioning business for Veripos in North and South America. In February of 2014, Steve became the Executive Vice President Commercial for Veripos, a global commercial role including sales and marketing, business development, and strategic planning activities. Steve has previously served as Chairman of the Houston Chapter of the Institute of Navigation, and is also a former Board Member, and past Chairman of the Houston Chapter of The Hydrographic Society of America. He is currently on the Marine Technology Society Dynamic Positioning Committee, and is a two-time Technical Chair of the MTS DP Conference. He currently serves as the MTS Dynamic Positioning Conference Chairman, a role he assumed following the 2012 conference.
