3 CO NNECT Foreword Volume 3 Issue 13 December Pages Dear Friends, Editor Mahesh Balasaheb Salunkhe Panel of Advisors Chandrakant Salunkhe A. Rameshkumar Girish Bhagat V. K. Venkatachalam Publicity and Marketing Hemant Salunkhe (Director) Bricks Marketing & Promotion Pvt. Ltd. Team Saakshi Kulkarni Madhuri Khanwalkar Layout & Graphics Gandhi Gajelli I am pleased to present you the December issue of SME Connect Magazine, which includes various activities organised by SME Chamber of India jointly with SME Export Promotion Council and Maharashtra Industrial and Economic Development Association. As you are aware, the Chamber is providing knowledge, hand holding and support to the SMEs for identifying the emerging business opportunities in various sectors. Through our research based surveys and infinite number of meetings with various Indian entrepreneurs, we observed that they are facing difficulty to identify new markets for export promotion because of lack of contacts & connectivity, insufficient funds for marketing and promotion, insufficient manpower, market knowledge, supply chain management and other resources for achieving success in international market. With respect to above, we consider that it is our endeavour to help support SMEs from manufacturing and service sectors for participation in various International Buyer-Seller Meet and Exhibitions in countries around the world viz. Brazil, Germany, Gulf Countries, North America and South Africa from the fields of Packaging Industry, Engineering, Food Processing, IT, Furniture, Pharmaceuticals, Medical Equipment, Health Care, Garments, Industrial Laundry Machineries, and other Process Machinery and Equipment Manufacturers. Participation in exhibition and B2B Meetings will definitely help SMEs to identify business opportunities as well as to learn about new markets, quality of products required, competition and promotion strategy. I, therefore, appeal to the entrepreneurs to take advantage of our support services to enter and enhance your business potential in the International Market. 15 MMRDA Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority Metro at your doorstep soon! It s good news. Very soon you will find a Metro Rail at your doorstep! Mumbai s very first 11-km Metro corridor from Versova to Ghatkopar via Andheri is ready to be commissioned. This corridor is a part of the 146-km Metro Rail network the Mumbai Metropolitan Region DevelopmentAuthority (MMRDA) intends to develop in the city and its region. The trials on this entire route have already begun and are being conducted very successfully. Today, the project is awaiting safety certificate and a few other mandatory clearances, which are expected anytime now. The Mumbaikars will travel on this 12-station route in comfortable and air conditioned Metro trains connecting eastern and western suburbs of the city. The change of modes of travel required to cross this treacherous stretch will now be a thing of past reducing the travel time from 70 minutes to a mere 20 minutes. The 4-car Metro is expected to carry 60,000 happy commuters per hour per direction. The air-conditioned, comfortable and safe Metro Rail is being brought to your doorstep at a cost of Rupees 2,356 crore. India's first Mono Rail rolled out! Today, India's first Monorail is attracting one and all with anxiety and curiosity. Thousands and thousands are flocking in to enjoy a ride everyday on the 8.93-km long first phase from Wadala to Chembur. The seven stations on the 8.93-km long Phase-I of the Monorail corridor are Chembur, V.N.Purav/RC Marg Junction, Fertilizer Township, Bharat Petroleum, Mysore Colony, Bhakti Park and Wadala Depot. The Mumbai Monorail flaunts itself in three colours refreshing Green, attractive Pink and Sky Blue. The bright coloured Monorails are sure to please the Mumbaikar who is any way exhausted looking at the concrete skyline.the project is being implemented in two phases. While the first phase is operational today, the km long second phase from Wadala to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk is being attended to on a war footing and is expected to achieve completion next year. India's km long Mono Rail, once commissioned fully, will be World's second longest Mono Rail corridor behind Japan's 23.8-km Osaka Mono Rail corridor. India's first Mono Rail is brought to you at a cost of Rs.2,460 crore. The Eastern Freeway A signal-free connectivity The project cost is Rupees 1,240 crores The Eastern Freeway is a fast and additional corridor to connect the island city and the eastern suburbs. It runs from Orange Gate toanik-panjarpol Link Road (9,29-km) and further fromanik to Panjarpol (4.3-km). These two parts have brought great relief to the thousands of commuters travelling from south Mumbai towards eastern suburbs, Thane, Nasik, Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Pune, Goa and further. Today, the travel from CSTto Shivaji Chowk in Chembur is a mere 20-minute cakewalk. In all, 16 lakh cement bags, 32,000 metric tons of steel, 3346 girders and 2,600-km long high tension steel strand besides many other niceties such as more than 2000 workers and close to a hundred engineers were put to complete this task. The third part of this project Panjarpol to Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (2.81-km) is looking ahead for April-2014 completion which will help relieve congestion on the EEH. While the first two parts have already decongested Dadar, Chembur and Sion areas significantly, the third part will decongest areas around Mankhurd Junction, Ghatkopar, up tothane and further. The Sahar Elevated Road A 5-minute drive from WEH to International Airport The 2.20-km Sahar Elevated Road facilitates easier and quicker access to the travelers proceeding to and from the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The Elevated Road commissioned from February 12, 2014 and reaches travelers to the International Airport in a mere 5 minutes has helped commuters save time, energy and fuel as the same journey would require more than minutes previously. The signal-free elevated road starts from WEH at Hanuman road junction, Vile Parle (East) and reaches directly to Terminal-2. This was a complete missing link and reaching CSIA was a cumbersome travel as the approach roads to CSIAirport were very narrow and congested. The Elevated Road also affords a very pleasing driving experience to the motorists. The road is provided with planters for landscaping and arboriculture on either side probably first time in India what with beautiful Palm trees and shrubs being planted to offer soothing greens in an otherwise drab concretized skyline. The Rupees crore Elevated Road today has eased congestion on the WEH and more significantly at theandheri-kurla Road junction.
