3 Talented, multi linguistic lawyer Kamil Sayeed joins our firm: A practicing lawyer having profound knowledge in English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu and Arabic and also having deep interest in Islamic philosophy in the light of Hindu scriptures such as Vedas Upanishad and Puranas, recently joined our firm. Kamil has had experience in mortgages, SARFAESI Act, DRT matters and so on. Nidhi Ladha welcomed to the family: Nidhi Ladha qualified her final exam of company secretaryship in 2007, and got her membership in Jan She has post qualification experience of about 1 year and has handled various company law and SEBI-related matters. Nidhi Ladha is also an amateur painter. We welcome Nidhi Ladha to the family Bijoyeta s stage performance at Girish Manch attract attention: Our associate Bijoyeta, is a trained Classical Dancer and recently, Gave her stage performance in Girish Manch, in a function organized by Riddhi Nritya kala Kendra. The performance was watched by ample audience and was well appreciated. Bijoyeta is the disciple of Shri Nihar Ranjan Chakraborty, student of Srimati Amla Shankar.

4 Magnum opus on company Law: Ramaiya released: Vinod Kothari one of the editors: Whether you have anything to do with company law or not, you cannot be missing Ramaiya s magnum opus. The book is synonymous with the subject. Vinod Kothari had been a specialist editor of this massive book several years ago, and got associated with the book once again. The 2010 edition was recently released and Vinod Kothari is one of the editors of the book, sharing the glory with the likes of Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, U.P.Mathur and so on. Vinod Kothari s article on Asset Reconstruction Companies get published in Madras Law Journal: Vinod Kothari recently wrote a critical article on the functioning and powers of trusts formed by various Asset Reconstruction Companies in India. Vinod Kothari has been vocal on the device of asset reconstruction companies in India and compares with international practice. The present article, published in Madras Law Journal, September 2010 issue, argues that the trusts of asset reconstruction companies do not have powers under section 13 of the SARFAESI Act.

5 TOUCHES OF THE PAST Congratulations to Anindya Sen on the way to the judiciary One of our former colleague, Mr. Anindya Sen, recently passed the examination of West Bengal Judicial Services and is on his to be appointed as a Civil Judge (Jr. Div). Congratulations, Anindya, and we are proud to have had association with you. On this occasion, we had a brief chat with him. There is lot of justice waiting to be delivered in the country: so go ahead and do justice! First of all I would like to congratulate you for your achievement. Anindya - Oh! Thanks a lot Did you always wanted to become a Judge? Anindya I always wanted to serve the public at large. But my initial plans were to work in corporate sector. Once I went to court and was mesmerized after seeing the all the procedure of law and felt this is the place where I should be. It is really a dream come true for me. Where would you be posted? Anindya I may be posted anywhere in West Bengal, We will come to know the area of our jurisdiction in sometime during March. What do you think of your association with Vinod Kothari & Company? Anindya- It was great experience for me. To tell you the truth I never wanted to join a PCS. But when I met Vinod Sir I was overwhelmed by his personality. Manoj Sir s guidance also helped me a lot. The exposure I got here is incomparable.

6 What was your experience as a teacher in our Academy? Anindya I always liked to teach and Academy gave me good opportunity. It was a very good experience for me. What are your reminisces? Anindya There are loads of them. I remember the lunch time..(laughing)..neha always used to ask me did I take my lunch or not. After my mother, she was the first person to ask me in such a caring manner. And when Nidhi came, she always used to ask me questions and I had to read fat books in order to answer her questions. Another incidence I remember, once I went for audit in ITC, when I returned, Sir started asking questions and I explained everything and after that sir seemed convinced, which is rare almost like an achievement. Any Suggestions? Anindya Oh no! I can t think of any suggestion, It is already very good. Congratulations Neha Gupta Neha Gupta very recently completed her training with our firm. We all remember Neha as a brilliant person. Here is one reason to congratulate her: she has been awarded for the Best Paper Writer and Paper Presenter Award for presenting her paper on the topic 'Forensic Accounting using IT' at the 2010 International Conference for CA Students organised by the Board of Studies jointly with the NIRC of ICAI.

7 TOUCHES OF THE PAST Long way traveled by Anuradha Khedia: Our current associates would know nothing of Anuradha but our principals recall that she was one of our early associates, and the first female to join Vinod Kothari & Company. Anuradha left us several years ago but has still been in touch with our firm. Anuradha has come a long way. We introduce Anuradha briefly and a reproduce a chat with her. Anuradha Khedia, formerly Anuradha Rungta, qualified as a Chartered Accountant and an MBA in Finance. She now has nearly 7 years experience in Business Analysis, Financial Planning & Management, management reporting and forex. She is currently working with Evalueserve, Delhi as Finance Manager. She was recently awarded with Employee Performance Awards in recognition of the excellence shown in Quality and Productivity. On a chat with her- When did you work with us? - It was March, 2001, I completed my CA and joined VK& co. I worked for around 1 year and then I had to resign to pursue my higher studies. What do you think of your association with VK& co? It is a very Good Company. Mr. Kothari, is no doubt a dynamic person. He has a depth of knowledge. Before joining VK & co I attended several lectures of Mr. Kothari and truly speaking I was spellbound. Later I decided to start my Career with the expert.

8 Any reminiscences? - Yes, I still remember, I had to go to different Government officials for our company law matters, which I didn t like at all. One day I went to a Government official and he told me something which I did not like. I came back to office and told Sir what happened and said I won t ever go to that place.
