1 LEADERlines April 2015 From the Board - Jason Berger, President Dear Fellow Graduates, I want to thank you all so much for allowing me the honor to serve as your President. As we continue to celebrate our 25 th year of LEADERship, your Board continues to build upon and strengthen our 25 years of commitment to our community. On May 12th we will be honoring 25 Years of LEADERship at the Mariner Sands Country Club. We want all of you on board for our Silver Anniversary Celebration, and we are requesting your attendance and/or your sponsorship of this event as the proceeds will benefit our future: the Next Step Advanced LEADERship Symposium. Special highlights of this year have included renaming the Youth LEADERship Scholarship in honor of our beloved mom, Nancy Sailer. Our Benihana Celebrity Chef Cook Off, Luncheon at Carrabas, Holiday Party at the Dolphin, and Spring Social at Harbor Community Bank have also been tremendous successes. These events will be followed up by our luncheon with the Superintendent at the Tiger s Den on April 16 th and our 25th Year Celebration on May 12. Thank you so much for the honor of allowing me to serve as your 25 th President and for actively becoming involved in helping to continue make this a special year. 3 Spring Social Enjoyed by LEADERs Lisa Satur, of Harbor Community Bank, welcomed alumni to the Spring Social hosted by the bank, Keiser University and Jason Berger, P.A. Drew Pittman, Shaun Plymale and Elliot Paul enjoyed the food, drinks and networking along with Lisa Teetor, Lucy Corley, Nancy Turrell and Lynne Barletta. LEADERS CHANGE ROLES The board of directors has announced the retirement of Barbara Kauffman (9), President/CEO of Council on Aging, after leading the Council for 18 years. She transi- tioned a small nonprofit agency into the Kane Center. Karen Ripper (5), the Council s CEO has been appointed to serve as Kauffman s successor effective immediately. Class 25 LEADERS Graduating LEADERship Class 25 enjoyed a stretch class at Martin Health Wellness Center. A special thanks to Health & Human Services Day, on March 5, Alumni Committee Coordinators Wendie Berardi, Nicole King, Lori Power and Dalynn Sotomayor. SAVE THE DATE Capstone Day is May 7 at Treasure Coast Hospice and the class graduation is that evening. She is the fourth designer in the state of Florida to do so. Hill has worked in the field for 28 years. Carl Newton (21) recently was promoted to Vice President at Seacoast Wealth Management. Carl has served on the alumni board for four years and is Past President now. Jessica McLain (21), has been appointed vice president and chief philanthropic officer for Martin Health System. McLain joined the foundation in 2004 and has a master s degree in health administration from the University of Georgia. Alumni Purpose The purpose of LEADERship Martin County Alumni is to support the LEADERship Martin County Program; to provide education and networking opportunities for our members; and to enhance community awareness of our members by providing opportunities to evaluate and act on issues affecting the community. Note: Our monthly newsletter can now be viewed on our website POST YOUR NOTES Michael Dadko (12), of UBS Wealth Management, has been named the UBS Florida East Coast Complex s 2014 Financial Planner of the Year. Dadko is Senior Partner of the Sailfish Wealth Management Group. Elizabeth Barbella (11), CEO of House of Hope, received the 2015 Hobe Sound Community Service Award.
