1 SPEAKERS ASHA BANGALORE Vice President Economist Asha has been an economist with Northern Trust since Prior to joining Northern Trust, she was a consultant to savings and loan institutions and commercial banks with Financial & Economic Strategies Corporation in Chicago. Asha served as a faculty member of the department of economics at Trinity College in Connecticut She also served as an economist at the Industrial and Development Bank of India. Asha received her bachelor s degree from Bangalore University and both her master s and Ph.D degrees in economics from the University of Connecticut. She is a member of the National Association of Business Economists and the American Economic Association. DANIEL R. BARRON Senior Vice President Managing Director of Family Business Services Daniel serves as division manager and asset manager in Northern Trust s family business division in personal financial services where he manages, values and serves in officer and director capacities for closely held businesses. He also heads the division, which is composed of 16 professionals. Daniel received his bachelor s degree from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and his master s degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. He has also been granted the Accredited Senior Appraiser designation for business valuation by the American Society of Appraisers. 2 ANN FREEL Vice President Director of Family Education and Governance Ann works with Northern Trust s internal experts and outside partners to develop the firm s practice in the areas of family education and family governance. Prior to joining Northern Trust, Ann served as manager of programs and research for Family Office Exchange (FOX) where she was responsible for designing and implementing educational programs for ultra-high-net-worth family offices, their families and their advisors. Ann designed both distance learning and in-person programs, created a number of print and online resources and consulted frequently with family offices and their advisors regarding family education and governance issues. Prior to her position at FOX, Ann was the faculty and curriculum designer at Connected University (a division of Classroom Connect/Harcourt Publishers), where she designed and taught accredited on-line courses for educators, school administrators, school board members and community leaders, with a special focus on leadership development and family/school partnerships. Ann has also held the position of program and development director of North Central Regional Education Laboratory, part of the U.S. Department of Education s national research and development system. Ann received her bachelor s degree from Oberlin College and has completed focused graduate work at both the University of Chicago and DePaul University to build upon her expertise in education, adult learning and communication. DANIEL F. LINDLEY President The Northern Trust Company of Delaware Dan is responsible for managing Northern Trust s Delaware office and growing the company s trust and wealth management business in the Northeast, an integral part of serving our affluent clients. Prior to joining Northern Trust in 2005, Dan was managing director and trust counsel at U.S. Trust Company of Delaware. He also had his own private law practice in Delaware for nearly 25 years, assisting institutional clients with fiduciary product development and fiduciary litigation, as well as the enactment of Delaware legislation dealing with fiduciary law. Admitted to the bars of the Supreme Court of the State of Delaware and the United States Supreme Court, Dan is a member of the asset protection planning committee of the Real Property, Trust and Estates Law Section of the American Bar Association. He also is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Estate Planning Council of Delaware, and the Estates and Trusts Section of the Delaware State Bar Association. He received a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and a bachelor s degree, magna cum laude, from Williams College. The Northern Trust Experience
3 ROBERT P. MORGAN Senior Vice President Director of Private Equity Northern Trust Global Investments Prior to joining Northern Trust Global Investments as director of private equity in 2000, Robert worked as a director at Frye-Louis Capital Advisors, LLC (FLCA), a Chicago-based private equity investment manager and was responsible for all of the operations of FLCA, including the management of a private equity fund-of-funds. Prior to joining FLCA, he worked for Heller Financial, Inc. and was responsible for its private equity programs. Daniel has invested in more than 100 private equity funds covering the buyout, venture capital, real estate and international markets. Robert sits on several fund advisory boards and is also a board member of the Illinois Venture Capital Association. He received a bachelor s degree in economics from Wake Forest University and his master s degree from Emory University. DOUGL AS P. REGAN Executive Vice President The Wealth Management Group Doug is executive vice president of Northern Trust s Wealth Management Group. Prior to this role, Doug served as chairman and chief executive for Northern Trust s Southeast Region where he was responsible for 25 locations throughout Florida as well as Northern Trust s location in Atlanta, Georgia. He has also served as president of the Palm Beach and Martin County Region for Northern Trust of Florida and as the managing executive in Boca Raton and head of the trust and investment management sales group for Palm Beach and Martin Counties. Doug earned his bachelor s degree from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from the Chicago Kent College of Law. He has instructed at the National Trust School at Northwestern University and in the master s program at the Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Notre Dame. Doug currently serves on the board of The Old Town School in Chicago and has served on the boards of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, the Harid Conservatory, United Way of Palm Beach County and the Miami Art Museum. RUNQUIST Senior Vice President Director of Alternative Investment Strategies Northern Trust Global Advisors In her role as senior alternative investments specialist, Lori is responsible for both hedge funds and private equity, and for helping investors achieve diversification through inclusion of both alternative asset classes. She also is a member of Northern Trust s hedge investment committee. Lori joined Northern Trust in 2000 and was responsible for the development of Northern Trust s hedge fund of funds for both personal and institutional markets. Previously, she was senior vice president and managing director at Hedge Fund Research, LLC, where her responsibilities included manager research, portfolio construction and product structuring. Lori received both her bachelor s and master s degrees from the University of Chicago. She also holds NASD Series 82 and 63 licenses. Lori is a frequent conference speaker on alternative investments and a contributor to a variety of financial publications, including Pensions & Investments, American Banker and Risk magazine. JOHN D. SKJERVEM Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer John is the chief investment officer for at Northern Trust in Chicago. His responsibilities include investment policy development with a particular focus on portfolio construction and implementation. He also directs the investment management activities of more than 200 Northern Trust portfolio managers. In 1991, he joined Northern Trust as a portfolio manager in the Santa Barbara office. He was appointed chief investment officer for Northern Trust s Western Region in 2002, supervising 30 portfolio managers across three states. Prior to joining Northern Trust, John worked in Los Angeles as an associate economist for consultants Natelson Levander Whitney and as a public finance specialist for investment bankers Ehrlich Bober & Co. John received a bachelor s degree in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and earned a master s degree in finance and statistics from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. WOOLLEY President Northern Trust Massachusetts Lee joined Northern Trust in Prior to joining Northern Trust in Boston as president, he served as the Midwest director of the Wealth Strategies Group. He also served as a consultant in Northern Trust s financial consulting center where he advised clients on such topics as estate planning, investments, retirement planning, tax planning, life insurance and education funding.
