1 8 th Grade Parents, Welcome to the 8 th grade snow day packet! Each teacher that contributed to this packet listed 5 days of work for 5 possible snow days. If we only miss one day, just have your student complete one assignment for each teacher listed. Please have your student log on to in order to view assignments (especially from teachers that did not contribute to this packet.) Please feel free to teachers with questions during the snow days we are available to help! Enjoy some hot cocoa & watch the beautiful winter wonderland!!
2 Science ~ Ms. Bordelon questions/problems/funny jokes? whitney.bordelon@lrsd.org Accelerated Physical Science: check the google classroom 29a6cin for exciting & informative snow day assignments! PreAP/Regular Science: Snow Day 1: Log on to NatGeo Science & read one of the recent articles that you find interesting. Write a 2-3 paragraph summary of the article. Make sure you include how this article connects science to your life. Snow Day 2: Research a little about William (Snowflake) Bentley s photography & sketch at least 5 drawings of pictures of his snowflakes. Snow Day 3: Ptarmigans & Artic Wolves have adapted as species to their environment. Do a little research on these 2 species & summarize how they followed the stages of natural selection in order for the population to survive. Snow Day 4: Design a chair made only of duct tape that will support your weight. (assume that you can hang the chair from a branch or board) Sketch the design & determine how many rolls of tape you will need. Research how much duct tape costs & estimate how much it would cost to create your chair. (You do not have to build the chair only design it!) Snow Day 5: Log on to NatGeo Science & read one of the recent articles (that you did NOT pick on day one!) Write a 2-3 paragraph summary of the article emphasizing what you found interesting about the article.
