2 JAGANNATH INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL HOLIDAY HOMEWORK CLASS I Vacation time! Time to rejoice and rejuvenate! This is also the time to do your creative hat. So let your little finger dance around with pen, paper, glue, colours and scissors. Switch on the thinking engines of your mind. Whatever you learnt just rewind. Little bit of research and lots of imagination, Will make your holidays fruitful and add colours to your creation. Now get set go Give shape to your project.

3 Don t forget to write the topic and put the name tag. When the school reopens bring back your treasure as per the dates. To go through it will be a pleasure. NOTE 1. The role of the parent is to be a facilitator and guide to steer the child in the right direction. 2. Follow the guidelines strictly given by teachers to complete projects. 3. Look for interesting books and read as much as you can. 4. Do one page of writing (English and Hindi both) everyday. 5. The dates of submitting Holiday Homework will be given when school reopens. ENGLISH 1. Read and enjoy the following stories: * Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs *Cinderella *The Elves and the Shoemaker *Little Red Riding Hood Or any other interesting story. Learn and narrate any two stories in the class using props (face masks, hand puppets, flash cards) 2. VOCABULARY HANGING- Cut a big circle on an A-3 size sheet. Write a word WATER on it. Now write down all those words which comes to your mind when you read the word water or see water e.g. Bathing, cooking, watering plants etc and write each word on small circles or decorative cut outs of any shape from another A-4 size sheet. Attach these cut outs to the big circle using satin ribbons(waste material).you can use your creativity to make the vocabulary hanging attractive. 3. Daddy s Day Out : Father s Day is observed on the third Sunday of June. It honours all fathers, grandfathers and father figures for their contribution. So on this Father s Day Pamper your Dad, Make him feel special in every way, Surprise him by giving him a card and a gift. Prepare a mouth-watering recipe which might become his all time favourite. An example of one such recipe is given below. RECIPE TIME Banana Split Ice Cream with your mother s help. Ingredients: 1 Scoop of Vanilla ice cream, 1 Scoop of strawberry ice cream,1 Ripe banana,some nuts and chocolate syrup.

4 Method: Wear your chef cap and apron. Cut a banana in half lengthwise and lay it in the dish. Put scoops of vanilla and strawberry ice cream served in a row between the split banana.garnish it with crushed nuts and chocolate syrup. Enjoy your banana treat. Don t forget to click pictures. Paste them on an A-3 size sheet and write the ingredients and methodology of the recipe too. Roll no. 1 TO 5:- Prepare 10 Flash cards showing opposite words with pictures. (Refer Ch-19 of S.L.E. book).make back to back flash cards. Roll no. 6 TO 10:- Prepare 10 Stick puppets of action words (Refer Ch-20 of S.L.E. book) Roll no. 11 TO 15:- Prepare 10 flash cards on Describing Words (Refer Ch-26 of S.L.E book) Roll no. 16 TO 20:- Write the rules for writing a sentence on a pastel sheet (Full Size) show proper examples also. (Refer to Ch-11 of S.L.E. Book) Roll no. 21 TO 25:- Make a collage of naming words(nouns). Roll no.11-15: Make a flash card Of Ordinal Numbers (1-10). Roll no :Board Game on Numbers and Addition- Use chart paper and cardboard. Roll no : Make two beautiful cards with A-3 size sheet ( Don t mention your name on card)

5 E.V.S Hands on Activity Here s a simple project that demonstrates how plants grow. What you will need? Beans to Plant. 1 plastic bottle filled with soil. What you need to do? Sow the seeds in a bottle which have wet soil. Keep it in the sunlight, water it on regular basis. See what s happening? Observe the growth of plant discuss your observation with your parents. We will have a class discussion about this experiment when you join the school after vacations. Note :- Decorate the bottle and also label it and bring it to school. Roll no. 1 to 10 Have a close look at your surroundings while you are in the park. Observe how beautiful the flowers and plants are, how people are having fun and all the activities that you do to make your day a memorable one. On an A- 3 size sheet, using materials such as dried leaves, match sticks, pencil shavings, cotton etc create a scene of the park you visited. Roll no. 11 to 15 :-Make a model on Sources of Water, refer to chapter 13. Roll no. 16 to 20 :- Prepare a wind chime showing the pictures of any 6 food items that are healthy. Roll no. 21 to 25 :- Make a chart on Indoor and Outdoor games. Note :- All the charts/posters/models must be on pastel sheet. So, open your mind and let your creativity begins the magic.
