You might have noticed they all loved coming to school. For the next one and a half months, you, their natural guardian will spend the vacation with them. Look into the eyes of your little one and thank god for giving you one wonderful gift. In a few years from now, they will be soaring into greater heights. As parents it is important to invest your time with them now. Have at least two meals together with your children. Teach them the importance and hard work of the farmers and ask them not to waste their food. Share stories about your childhood. Allow your child to play outdoors and get dirty. Get some story books with colourful pictures for your child. Keep your children away from T.V., mobile phones, computers, and other electronic gadgets. With good wishes for a marvellous vacation. 2 General Instructions Holiday Homework to be submitted in the folder in which the homework is being sent. Parents are requested to only guide their children while doing the assignment. Originality of the work will be appreciated. Project / homework will be assessed on the basis of neatness, creativity and originality of ideas. ENGLISH Read and enjoy the following stories: The Gingerbread Man Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Cindrella Hansel and Gretel The Elves and the Shoemaker Little Red Riding Hood Rapunzel Or any other interesting story Prepare the child with any 1 story for narration in the class using props ( face mask, hand puppet, flash cards) 2 Vocabulary Hanging- Cut a big circle on an A3 sheet write a big word on it. For example HAPPINESS and illustrate it. Now make as many small words as you can from the letters of the big word for example pin, spin etc. And write each word on small decorative cut outs of any shapes from another A4 sheet attach these cut outs to the big circle using satin ribbon. You can use your creativity to make a vocabulary hanging attractive. HAPPINESS PAN SPIN PINE 3 Daddy s Day Out: Father s day is observed on the third Sunday of June. It honours all fathers, grandfathers and father figures for their contribution. So on Father s Day. Pamper them Make them feel special in every way. Surprise him by giving a card and a gift. Prepare a mouth watering recipe which might become their all time favourite. Recipe Time - Banana Split Ice- Cream with your mother s help. Ingredients: 1 Scoop of Vanilla Ice cream

3 1 scoop of strawberry Ice cream 1 Ripe banana some nuts chocolate syrup Method Wear your chef cap and Apron. Cut a banana in half lengthwise and lay it in the dish. Put scoops of vanilla and strawberry ice cream served in a row between the split banana. Garnish it with crushed nuts and chocolate syrup. Enjoy your banana treat. Don t forget to click pictures. Paste them on an A-3 size sheet and write the ingredients and the recipe. 4 Learn 10 new words in english and list them in alphabetical order in your note book. 5 Thematic learning I- Read the lessons done so far. 6 Cursive writing Do pages Social Outreach Holiday Homework 1 Speed Craft Draw the picture of a bird on a chart paper. Spread glue over it. Stick seeds of different pulses, rices wheat, mustard or watermelon. Use different seeds in different parts. 2 Making beehive: On a sheet of white chart paper, draw an outline of beehive. Inside this outline paste the seeds of black pepper. Paste a picture of a honeybee around the beehive. 3 Grow a garden in a cup! Take two empty ice-cream cups. Place thin layers of cotton wool in both the cups. Place 3 pea seeds in each cups. Keep the cotton wool moist in Cup 1 by watering it. Do not water the second cup. What do you see after a few days? Write the observation in a piece of paper and paste it on to the cups. 4 2 Make a scrap book on your grandfather/ grandmother or any other person in your family. Find out details about him/ her when he / she were young and paste related pictures. Include the followinga) games they played b) Food they liked c) Books they read d) Hobbies e) their schools and friends f) important events in their life g) Any old photograph 3 Click picture of yourself doing various activities at home showing your contribution in helping your mother and father. Paste pictures of the activities you do on a pastel sheet. 3 Prepare a wind chime showing the pictures of any 6 food items that are healthy. 4 Visit any 2 of the following places with your family Zoo Traffic Training Park Rail/ Doll museum Children s Park Ride in HOHO bus bank / Post office Any historical monument 5 Visit 3 neighbours know more about them and build a rapport with them. Click photographs and make a collage on an A-3 sheet. Write 4-5 lines about your experience. 6 Make a bird bath. Look for a flat container and place it on the balcony slab our outside your home. Put some pebbles in it. Pour some fresh water in it every day for the birds, squirrels etc to drink water from. Click pictures of your activity. Don t forget to include yourself in the picture. Wirte few lines on what you observed. 7 Gently encourage your child to raise a kitchen garden by planting seeds. Knowledge about plants and trees are integral part of your child s growing. G.K. - Do pages 5, 6, 7, 10 & 11 Computer Visit to the places where computer are used. (Shopping Mall, Railway Stations, Banks & Airports etc.) Click the pictures and make a beautiful collage showing images and captions to depict computer applications in day to day life on a chart paper.

6 Good Children Make glad parents So, children take up certain responsibilities and enjoy the holidays with your family. Walk together: Go for walks with your family. You will realize you have two of the God s greatest gifts... nature and your family. Thank god for these gifts. : Help your parents, grandparents and even your younger brothers and sisters. Play outdoor Games: computer games are good. They sharpen your intellect, but what about the rest of your body? You do need physical exercise too... Go cycling, play badminton, cricket, hide and seek- anything that will make you RUN! Watch educational and meaningful T.V. programs... on Animal Planet, Discovery Channel, National Geographic channel... Use the Magic words PLEASE, SORRY, THANK YOU, EXCUSE ME,... APPROPRIATELY.
