2 Far away in the fantasy land of Dimis is a snow-covered valley filled with monsters. Here, you can find monsters with one leg and others with up to 9 legs! The 3 workers at the local sock factory are always busy packing and dispatching sock packets for these multi-legged monsters. The first worker to dispatch 6 batches of 10 sock packets for any 6 monster species receives the Best Worker Award. So, what are you waiting for? Take on the role of the workers and start packing! THE SOCK RUSH Use your storytelling skills here! Tell this story with as much excitement and emotion as possible. When children are drawn into the story, they will enjoy the game even more!

3 WHEN YOU OPEN THE BOX... 9 x 30 Sock packets 52 order cards 20 Plus-minus cards And 1 Rulebook... The game box is divided into 9 cartons (1 for each monster). Each carton is capable of holding roughly 30 packets of socks for 1 monster species. During the game, use these cartons to pack the sock packets for that monster.

4 LET S GET WARMED UP Before starting the game, give each player 9 batches of sock packets (1 for each monster). Each batch has exactly 10 sock packets. Next, shuffle the order cards and keep them facedown in the center. Keep the game box nearby. The slots in it will be used to pack the monster sock packets. As a parent or teacher, if you re playing with the children, offer them actual competition. Don t just let them win easily. It will be much more fun and better practice if you engage in the game too!

5 THE FIRST MOVE Who wins? The first worker to pack 6 Batches of sock packets is the winner. Who moves first? Before starting the game, each player will draw 1 card from the stack of order cards. The player who draws the card with highest number will make the first move. The rest of the players will follow in a clockwise direction from the 1st player Let s start Player 1 starts the game by picking the top card from the stack of order cards. After picking up the card, she will place it face up next to the stack. The order card comes from the factory manager. 16 Socks need to be packed This card informs players the number of socks they need to pack in their turn. Let s assume that Player 1 gets an order to pack 16 socks. A player can only pack socks for a single monster species during a single turn.

6 WHAT TO PACK? Socks come in packets. A 3- legged monster needs a set of 3 socks. Therefore, the sock packet with the image of 3-legged monster contains 3 socks. Similarly, a packet with the image of 6-legged monster contains 6 socks and so on Therefore, Player 1 will pack sock packets in such a way that 16 socks get packed. She has the option to pack: 8 sock packets for the 2-legged monster 4 sock packets for the 4-legged monster 2 sock packets for the 8-legged monster A player can pack socks for a single monster species only during a turn.

7 PACK PACK PACK AWAY 2 socks, 4 socks, 6 socks. 16 socks Let s say that she decides to pack 8 sock packets for the 2-legged monster. Next, she will pick each packet and start adding the socks. When she picks the first packet, she can count the feet and say 2. The next packet will take the number of socks to 4, the next one to 6 and so on. The player is required to count the socks in each packet till she has packed 16 socks. When she puts all her 8 packets inside the slot in the box, she says 8 times 2 is 16. Packed! 8 times 2 is 16. Packed!

8 THE GAME OF SHADOWS At the bottom of each order card there are few shadows. Some have 1, some 2 and some even have 4 shadows. What are these? These are the shadows of the monsters. Once you identify the shadows, you will know for which monsters you can pack socks for that order card. This is a big give away. So, be very diligent while identifying the shadows. Initially, kids may not be able to identify the shadows easily. As a parent, help them to match the shadow with the monster images. When you do so, also relate the number of limbs each monster has to the number on the order card.

9 SPECIAL ORDER CARDS Next, it s Player 2 s turn. She will pick up the top card from the Order cards stack. But look! Something is written there. This is a special order card. This card allows the player to pack 1 complete batch for any monster. There are 2 more special order cards. These cards allow the player to pass on 1 or 2 (as instructed) sock packets of a single monster to any other player. The Skip Cards If a player gets the Skip Card, they will have to miss their turn. They cannot pack any socks in that turn.

10 FOR THE EXPERTS In order to increase the challenge and fun of this game, we also provide you with Plus-Minus Cards. These cards help the players to change the order card numbers. At the beginning of the game, shuffle the stack of plus-minus cards. Distribute 2 cards from the stack to each player. Let them keep these cards face up at all times. Keep the stack, face down, next to the stack of order cards. When the player has to increase or decrease the order card number, she will pick the plus-minus card and place it next to her opened order card. The player will then continue with packing socks for the new order number. After packing, the player will pick another plus-minus card from top of its stack. Once again, she will keep the card face up in place of the card she just played. You can replenish your plus-minus card once you have played them. While the stack should be kept face down at all times, Keep your plus-minus cards open.

11 HOW TO USE THE PLUS-MINUS CARD? Let s say that during one of her turns, Player 3 gets an order to pack 49 socks. Her best move would be to pack 7 sock packets for the 7-legged monster. But what if she has already packed away that entire batch? She can use her plus-minus card! Let s say she has a ± 1 card. So now she can use it and increase the Order card from 49 to 50 or decrease it from 49 to 48. If she increases the order card to 50, she can pack 10 sock packets for the 5-legged monster. If she decrease it to 48, she can pack 8 sock packets of 6-legged monster or 6 sock packets of 8-legged monster. For our example we will assume that she chooses to go with the first option. + = 50 You may need to guide your kids to make good use of the plus-minus cards. Ask them to choose that option which helps them pack more socks.

Every time they pick a card, they will go through the entire table to find the correct combination of sock packets to pack. That means the players will get 8 times more practice than they would in a normal class!
