1 Visua Arts Grade 8 This course is open to a grade 8 students interested in earning about the creative process, incuding too-use, techniques, and the concepts traditionay used in art making. In addition to reviewing basic skis and continued studies of the eements and principes, students wi begin to make more creative and individuaized choices. Students are encouraged to seek deeper persona soutions to the artistic chaenges presented. The areas of drawing, coage, printmaking, and scupture wi be covered. Grade 8 students wi continue to maintain their Visua Journa experiences. *ACE: Grade 8 ACE students wi do a of the above as we as create their own more persona experiences through intensive study and homework assignments. Objectives Grade: 8 Term: 1 Students wi draw from direct observation. Students wi demonstrate understanding of various ine types. Students wi experiment with wet and dry techniques. ACE: Students wi understand and use trompe oei technique. Students wi understand the concept of Popuar Cuture through the study of Pop Art ACE: Students wi design a graphic image through the utiization of the sik-screen process. Students wi earn the correct genera proportions of the human figure. Students wi use the eement of space to create a successfu composition. Students wi earn the correct proportions of the face and create a sef-portrait. Students wi demonstrate knowedge of pattern. Students wi compose a poem and create a sef-portrait that iustrates identity. ACE: Students wi iustrate body anguage through drawing their hand within sefportrait. Grade: 8 Term: 2 Students wi criticize, observe and discuss the ramifications of graffiti. Students wi be abe to distinguish the various coor harmonies. Students wi invent a sneaker ogo and brand. Students wi construct a 3D form using a variety of 2D materias. Students wi use the principe of Unity to create an integrated initia. Students wi empoy a variety of cay techniques incuding pinch and sab methods to construct a container. Students wi utiize a variety of gaze techniques. Students wi construct an artists book that demonstrates non-traditiona techniques. Students wi draw from their imagination to create a view in perspective.

Students wi research a topic that is compeing and create a piece of art that has a cear point of view. ACE: Students wi understand the photo-montage process. Grade: 8 Term: 4 Students wi expore Nature as inspiration in a variety of cutures to create their own repousse. Students wi earn about and empoy concave and convex embossing techniques. Students wi demonstrate understanding of Organic ine and Pattern. Students wi use humor to create an Artists Card series. Students wi review and edit their portfoio to seect their strongest works.
