1 Clifton Community School Curriculum Overview KS3 Art, Textiles and Graphics The Art Department at Clifton boasts an array of creative work from students at all Key Stages. Our aim is to prepare students for success from the time when they enter Y7 right through to Y11. As such our curriculum is both supportive and challenging while giving students every opportunity to develop creatively and independently. Overview of KS3 We follow the same structure for each projects as we do at GCSE There are 4 assessment objectives A01 A02 A03 A04 AO1 - Artist research each SOW is influenced by an artist/illustrator/designer A02 Experimentation Design ideas. A03 Primary/secondary refinement and skill A04 Final piece Year 7 18/19 week rotation 3 short 6 week taster projects into the basic skills required in Textiles Art and Graphics Colour theory, proportion, tone, accuracy, blending, pencil key words. How to stitch, embellish, cut out a pattern, seams, decoration Illustration, Typography, Logos, Packaging Year 8 18/19 week rotation 3 projects building on skills learnt in year 7 in Art/Textiles/Graphics and an element of Photography Art -Mixed media, painting with tone, 3D work, building on accuracy and proportion Annotation Textiles sewing machine, fabric dying. Annotation Graphics repeat pattern, greeting card, Typography,

2 In Year 9 students This year is considered a springboard in preparation for Year 10. Students continue to build on the 2D elements of Art and begin to understand the importance of the presentation of study sheets alongside the need for strong technical skills. Students begin to develop a better knowledge of Artists research and how to annotate preparation work and design ideas. This course also encourages students to develop work independently. Art How to paint with acrylic and watercolour, Oil pastels, Clay, drawing skills, Composition, Researching own artists, Pinterest, shading pencils, making their work meaningful and personal with annotation. Textiles - free hand stitch, drawing with stitch, printing, how to interpret fine art in a textiles way, image maker, felt, silk painting, needle work, Making their work meaningful with annotation.
