10 LICFM BOB WOOD The final meeting of 2017 for the cabinet and furniture makers was a casual gathering to celebrate the holidays with refreshments. Thanks to Harry Slutter. Also, thanks to members who helped Harry and brought goodies. The usual raffle was held thanks to Bob Urso and company. There were three show and tells and these may not be in the order presented which is unintentional. Roger Ehrler made his first box; it was a music box with a veneered inlayed top that portrayed a mandolin along with some decorative detail. Roger made 22.5 degree corners which were also splined for strength. It was finished in lacquer and was truly a nice piece. Norm Bald made a vise with rotating heads and clamping pads. It was made of White Oak. The mechanical parts were bought through McMaster Carr. It mounts with a long bolt placed in a bench dog hole and was quite substantial. A kit is also available from Bench Crafter. Jim Hennefield brought in a sawhorse made of maple and beech; it looked too nice to use except as an outfeed support. Chuck La Carrubba is looking to possibly purchase a CNC machine. Any comments or suggestions please contact Chuck. The rest of the meeting was spent eating and drinking and discussing various woodworking topics. We hope you all enjoy the holidays. PUZZLES by Michael R.
