1 Issue #3 490 Main Street PO Box 459 Bengough SK S0C 0K0 Bengough Tigers School Newsletter "Only Your Best Is Good Enough" November 25, 2016 PH: Fax: Principal: Theresa Mooney Message from the Principal Hello; Well, here we are, in the last few days of 2016! I can hardly believe our year is just about over and that our school year is almost half over! Time is definitely flying! One thing that is new for us here is that Mr. Berglund is on medical leave. He will be away until school starts again in January. Mrs. Sara Haugen will be filling in while he is on leave. Thank you to the parents who were able to attend the Open House and Parent Information Night with Mr. Teneycke. Although parent attendance was low, it was a good night with good information and good visiting! 96% of our families attended our Student Led Conferences last week. This is the best attendance record we have had in a long time so thank you to all who attended! Congratulations to the Senior and Bantam volleyball players who all had an excellent season! Basketball season is now upon us. The Senior Mixed Basketball team is being coached by Mr. Jamie O Brien, with some help from Jessica Jack, and the Bantam Mixed Basketball team is being coached by Mrs. Lisa Newby with some help from Danielle Galbraith. Thank you to these community members who are helping us keep basketball alive in our school, too! For the last time, I will share some information that comes from Houston Independent School District ( attendance). The article to which I am referring again is titled Missing School = Missing Out. Did you know?..it doesn t matter if absences are excused or unexcused. They all represent lost time in the classroom and a lost opportunity for your child to learn. Did you know?...attendance is an important skill that will help your child graduate and do well in college and at work. What Can You Do?...Set an example for your child. Show him or her that attendance matters to you and that you won t allow absences unless someone is truly sick. What Can You Do?...You can turn to your school for help. If your child or family is having challenges with transportation, housing, or health issues, reach out to your school for support. As always, if you have questions or concerns about your student, please contact the appropriate person so that your concern can be addressed immediately by the person who is involved. Issues can be best worked out by approaching the appropriate person. Thank you. Have a good weekend. Have fun and be safe! Theresa Mooney Principal
