Wake Up with the Birds What: Join this guided birding walk in the desert oasis of Agua Caliente Park to spot wetland birds, hummingbirds, songbirds, and raptors. Binoculars are available for use. Date: Every Thursday in March Time: 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. Tour of Hacienda de la Canoa What: Join a walking tour of the Canoa Ranch headquarters to gain insights into the fascinating stories of the people that lived and worked on the ranch. Visit the historic ranch buildings and corrals and enjoy scenic views of the Santa Cruz River Valley. Date: Every Tuesday and Saturday in March Time: 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Tucson Mountain Park Birding Walk What:Join birding expert John Higgins for a guided birding walk to spot canyon towhees, rufous-winged sparrows, Gila woodpeckers, and other birds of the desert southwest. Ages 12 and up.

Kinney Road Outdoor Family Days: Water in the Desert What: Come out for a day of exploration in the precious riparian habitat at Cienega Creek Natural Preserve and exercise your artistic side to create a poem or drawing. Families with children ages Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Where: Gabe Zimmerman Davidson Canyon Trailhead at Cienega Creek Natural Preserve, E. Marsh Station Rd. Paint Out in the Park What: Join Tucson Plein Air Painters Society Signature Artist Marsha Davis in Tucson Mountain Park to learn some techniques for painting landscape scenes in the open air. Ages 12 and up. Time: 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Where: Tucson Mountain Park, Sarasota Trailhead, 3025 S. Sarasota Blvd Historical Tour of Agua Caliente Park What: Enjoy a guided walk around the lush grounds and historic buildings of Agua Caliente Park, and gain insights into the rich farming and ranching history of the site. Date: Sunday, March 2, March 9, March 23 Time: 11:00 a.m. - noon Birding at Sweetwater Wetlands What: Join a local birding expert on a guided walk to see a variety of ducks and shorebirds, sparrows, hawks, and warblers. Ages 12 and up. Date: Tuesday, March 4 Where: Sweetwater Wetlands, 2667 W. Sweetwater Dr. Desert Foods Walk and Tastings What: Take an easy walk through the desert to learn about a variety of food plants and how they were used by native peoples. Samples of locally prepared native food products and desert food recipes will be available. Ages 12 and up. Date: Wednesday, March 5 Time: 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Where: Tucson Mountain Park, Pima County Desert Discovery Center, 7798 W. Gates Pass Road. Nuts about Nature Preschool Hour What: Join us for child-friendly fun, as we learn about nature through stories, crafts, and games. Children ages 3-5 with an adult companion. Date: Wednesday, March 5 and March 19 Time: 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Cost/Age: free, ages 3-5 years with an adult companion Reservations not required

3 The History of the Santa Cruz Valley What: Anthropologist Tom Sheridan, Ph.D. presents the diverse history of the Santa Cruz Valley from his book Arizona: A History. This program is a partnership between Santa Cruz Valley Heritage Alliance and Pima County. When: Thursday, March 6 Time: 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Where: Joyner-Green Valley Branch Library, 601 N. Wildflower Hike at Sweetwater Preserve What: Join wildflower expert Meg Quinn for a 3 to 4 mile guided hike at Sweetwater Preserve in the Tucson Mountains. Learn about the unique flora of our desert including local annual and perennial wildflowers. Ages 12 and up. Date: Saturday, March 8 Where: Sweetwater Preserve, 4000 N. Tortolita Road, south of El Camino Del Cerro Sonoran Desert Kids Club: Become a Citizen Scientist What: Be part of a larger citizen science project in partnership with the USA National Phenology Network. Learn about the study of plant and animal life cycles and collect data at Agua Caliente Park. Children ages Date: Saturday, March 8 Time: 9:30 a.m. - noon Cost/Age: free, children ages 8-12 Birding at Hacienda de la Canoa What: Join a guided birding walk at Historic Hacienda de la Canoa to see a wide variety of sparrows, raptors, and other desert and grassland birds. Date: Tuesday, March 11 Time: 8:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m. Wildflower Hike in Wild Burro Canyon What: Join wildflower expert Meg Quinn for a 3 to 4 mile hike to identify and learn about local wildflowers. The trail is moderately difficult with some steep and rocky portions. Ages 12 and up. Date: Wednesday, March 12 Where: Wild Burro Canyon, Tortolita Mountains, Secret Springs Drive, Marana Heritage Area Structures Rehabilitation Tour What: Architectural preservationist Simon Herbert discusses the processes and materials used for the rehabilitation of the structures at Historic Hacienda de la Canoa as he leads this behind-the-scenes tour. Learn about the work that has transformed the structures from deteriorating ruins to functional buildings. Reservations required. Date: Wednesday, March 12 and March 26

Sabino Canyon Parkway, Mount Lemmon, Arizona A Night with the Stars What: Explore the wonder and unfold the mysteries of the night sky.tucson Amateur Astronomy Association volunteers provide an introduction to the night sky and set up telescopes for celestial viewing.
