Port Orford Police and the Curry County Sheriff's staff are investigating a bank robbery at the Port Orford branch of Rogue Credit Union. The incident occurred on Monday December 4th at about 5:34 pm. The white male suspect, believed to be in his mid 50 s, appeared to have an average to heavy build. He was about 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a dark colored hoody jacket, blue jeans and light colored desert color boots. He also utilized a blue cloth to cover the majority of his face. During the robbery the suspect brandished an edged weapon, demanded money and then left on foot with an undisclosed amount of currency. No one involved was injured. LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE Bandon s Third Annual Lighted Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, December 9 at 5:30 PM in Old Town Bandon. Join us for an Old Town Christmas celebration. The parade will progress down Second and First Streets in Old Town. A Nog and Wine Walk will proceed the Parade from 3:30 to 5:30 PM. Glasses for the walk will be on sale and available at 3:30 for $10 at the Cobbler s Bench. Stops will include, among many others, special cocktails and rum tasting at Stillwagon Distillery, wine tasting and homemade cookies at Winter River Books and at Bandon Inn, while Devon s Boutique will be partnering with the Alloro Wine Bar who will provide samples at Devon s. There will a cash award Grand Prize for the best parade entry. This workshop will feature a presentation by local landowners, a FERNS tutorial, and information on health, safety, and legislative history from forestry experts followed by a discussion and Q&A SONGS FROM THE SOUTHERN OREGON COAST Do you have a poem or short story about why you love living along the Southern Oregon Coast, or one you've been thinking about writing? If so, Gary Carter of Port Orford, south coast poet and author, is calling for submissions depicting what you enjoy about the Southern Oregon Coast or a positive event you have experienced while living here. These works of art will be published in April 2018, in a chapbook titled "Songs from the Southern Oregon Coast" and promoted over the Internet, through magazines, book stores, book signings etc. to tell the world what a beautiful place our south coast is, to come and visit us and hopefully help boost our tourism economy. April is our nation's designated National Poetry Month, so the book should be published sometime during that month.
