Overview/ Mission Description STEP led a market identification mission to Lima, Peru to meet with major contracting and EPCM firms supplying the resource sector. STEP s TSR unit has heavily focused on the South American resource industry over the last 5 years and the mission to Lima was intended to assess potential opportunities for mining, environmental and oil & gas supply STEP Members. This mission is a follow up from a Western Economic Diversification mission conducted in fiscal 2015/2016 and a prelude to organize a mission to return to Extemin STEP had a mine supply directory translated for this mission and this document was presented to each of the parties for review and follow up. Summarized Agenda The agenda for this mission consisted of organized business development meetings with major contracting firms, EPCM firms, industry associations as well as the local Consulate and Export Development Canada offices. Meeting with the following parties were held: Company: AMEC Foster Wheeler Representative: Stewart Twigg, General Manager Company Description: Amec Foster Wheeler is a global engineering firm providing services in oil & gas, mining, clean energy, and environment and infrastructure. Company: Grana y Montero International Representative: Donald East, General Manager Description: Grana y Montero is a Latin American based engineering and construction firm with over 82 years experience. It has operated in 13 Latin American countries and has permanent offices if Peru, Chile and Columbia. Specializations include: engineering, procurement and construction services in the mining, energy, civic infrastructure, hospitality and technology sectors. Company: Minera Almax Representative: Alberto Brocos, Owner Company Description: ALMAX MINERA SAC is a Peruvian company with 25 years of experience serving Mining, Industry and Construction. We offer goods and services technology and are exclusive representatives of manufacturers of premium products from countries like Canada and USA. The services offered under construction are related to the planning, implementation, monitoring and control of infrastructure, such as road construction, Pads, vials, bridges exchanges, among others. Also civil works such as hydroelectric dams, water intakes, grit chambers, tunnels, dams, canals, etc. Company: Colegio de Ingenieros Representative: Juan Carlos Garcias Company Description: We are an ethical institution, nonprofit organization that represents and brings together professional engineers of Peru, of all specialties, caution and preserves the ethical behavior of its members, and must ensure that Peru has a national profession that exerts engineering in a context of order, respect, competitiveness, quality and ethics, and is rooted in their social, cultural and political values, as a fundamental basis in the development process of the nation Company: Instituto de Ingenieros de Minas del Peru Representative: Walter Casquino & Juan Carlos Garcias Company Description: The Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru is a private nonprofit organization made up of professionals, technicians, individuals or legal entities or foreign national who develop mining or related to the mining industry in the country. Company: Global Affairs Canada / Export Development Canada, Peru Chapter Representative: Alexandra Laventure, Lorena Fluentes Company Description: Global Affairs Canada and EDC both have local offices in Lima Peru and assist Canadian companies seeking to conduct business locally.

Market Information Peru has extensive mineral wealth and is currently the second largest producer of silver and copper and the sixth largest gold producer in the world.

4 Market Information Peru has extensive mineral wealth and is currently the second largest producer of silver and copper and the sixth largest gold producer in the world. Mineral exports account for 60% of Peru s shipments abroad with the mining sector accounting for over 13% of foreign direct investment into the country. As of 2014/2015, $10 billion USD is the estimated value of mining investment in Peru. The below table illustrates Peru s estimated reserve levels. Peru is facing an infrastructure gap and the federal government has committed to reducing the $ 88 billion dollar infrastructure deficit over the next decade. Investments will be made into road, rail, airports, natural gas pipelines, desalination plants, power generating facilities, and infrastructure for the transmission and distribution of electricity. Results The major EPCM and construction firms STEP met with all expressed a need to work with suppliers who provide optimization and mechanization in mining and refining operations. Opportunities were also identified fro companies providing the following goods and/or services: fire protection, modelling software, prefabricated mobile housing, tailings management expertise, water treatment expertise and mine closure planning. STEP identified Members who provide the above services to the EPCM firms. The Colegio de Ingenerios also identified opportunities in improved extraction for the small artisans mines operating in Peru. These mines tend to be small local operations using rudimentary tools for extraction and recovery is at best 40%. With improved extraction, recovery could be upwards of 80% and this represents an opportunity for STEP Members who work in materials handling and enhanced recovery. This market development mission resulted in approximately 20 trade leads for STEP Members with 1 confirmed Deal in New Market (DIME) and it is estimated there will be at least one additional (DIME) and one Deal in Market existing.

5 Recommendations STEP recommends continuing to reach out to the Peruvian mining sector at local events where possible. The Prospector and Developers conference in March in Toronto, Ontario is scheduled to have a large Peruvian delegation and this will be a great opportunity to connect with Peruvian mining and EPCM companies in Canada. STEP also recommends pursing a Peru outgoing mission to attend Extemin in 2017 to follow up on identified opportunities and seek new opportunities for suppliers.
