" 1) It must provide for its application in a contemporary manner with all the development of the mining cycle, closure and post-closure 2) It must contemplate the definition of technical, environmental and social aspects of closure plans; 3) It should provide for the establishment of tools and financial guarantees in order to ensure compliance with the closing activities and evaluate the efficiency of post-closure measures.

14 Mining Waste Initiative: Regulation of mining waste (derived from extraction activities, benefit, and processing of rocks and minerals) Goals: 1) To have a specific mining waste regulation. (Currently they are subjected to Art. 249 "disposal of waste whatever their nature" and are correctly - included in the E.I.A. Report) 2) To allow, given the opportunity provided by the future hazardous waste regulation, for a differentiated regime that prevents any legal gaps or misinterpretations that could lead to their inclusion as hazardous waste.
15 Regulation Proposal for Mine Waste 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) Generic guidelines for specific management within the EIA report Competent authority defined by the provinces Definition of mining waste (with inputs from the provinces) Highlight on valorization and dynamism Definition of mining facilities (waste rock dumps, tailings, leaching heaps, etc.) Sanctions: Title XIII, Second Section MC
16 Private sector also moving towards sustainable mining in Argentina: Cámara Argentina de Empresarios Mineros (CAEM), the national mining association in Argentina adopted the Towards Sustainable Mining (TSM) initiative by the end of TSM: a corporate social responsibility program developed by the Mining Association of Canada (MAC) to improve environmental and social practices in the mining industry. Argentina is the first Latin American jurisdiction to adopt the initiative. Set of tools and indicators to drive continuous performance improvement around 6 Protocols: Aboriginal and Community Outreach, Crisis Management Planning, Safety and Health, Biodiversity Conservation Management, Tailings Management and Energy Use and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Management.
