6 Environmental Engineering Since 1879, Officine Maccaferri has been at the heart of the Maccaferri Industrial Group. Its continued growth is based upon long-held values of innovation, integrity, excellent service and respect for the environment. Our vision is to become a leading international provider of advanced solutions to the civil, geotechnical and environmental construction markets. We deliver solutions from retaining walls to hydraulic works and from rockfall mitigation systems to soil reinforcement. By implementing a strategy of vertical integration, we research, manufacture materials, design, supply and build solutions within these fields. Our differentiating factor is our people and their knowledge capital, which we share with our clients to overcome their engineering challenges. With nearly 3,000 employees, 31 production facilities and local activities in 100 countries around the world, we have a global experience with local knowledge; clients are never far from technical support. 130 years ago, we invented modern gabions and dramatically changed the civil engineering landscape. 7 Mechanical Engineering Founded in Bologna in 1936, the SAMP Group is an internationally renowned company operating in the field of mechanical engineering. The Group is composed of four independent companies, each developed according to specific technological and market needs: Sampsistemi, Samputensili Cutting Tools, Samputensili Machine Tools and Sampingranaggi. Sampsistemi offers innovative solutions for the production of wires and cables for telecommunications as well as low, medium and high voltage applications. Samputensili Cutting Tools is one of the world s leading manufacturers of gear-cutting tools. Samputensili Machine Tools is a leading partner in the production of machinery tools for the roughing and finishing of gears, screws and rotors. Finally, Sampingranaggi is an established manufacturer of gears, rotors and gearboxes for high-precision applications. The SAMP Group is always there for its clients thanks to an extensive network of sales offices, global assistance centres and manufacturing sites located in Europe, America and Asia. 7

8 Real Estate and Construction SECI Real Estate operates in the property sector, benefiting from a long tradition of developing important initiatives and focusing on the commercial, management, logistics and production sectors. The urban regeneration of large industrial sites has always been the company s leading mission, as well as acquiring and developing areas and properties. S.A.P.A.B.A. is a company operating in the construction sector that carries out important road and building works through public and private contracts. It has a long tradition in the production of cement and bituminous-based concretes, and this expertise combined with the technical know-how of Officine Maccaferri has led to the creation of Maccaferri Tunneling, a subsidiary specialising in the production of prefabricated segments designed specifically for tunnels. M Project offers project management services to Real Estate providers while Arenaria operates in the field of coastal protection, carrying out two important contracts for the development of marine sand deposits. 8

9 Energy Energy production through the use of renewable sources is at the heart of SECI Energia, which unites the Group s historic knowhow with the innovative drive of the new companies under its umbrella. Founded in 2006 as a sub-holding of the Maccaferri Group in the energy sector, SECI Energia operates through shareholdings in various companies within the sector to manage the renewable energy market in Italy and abroad, focusing on the design, development, management and maintenance of renewable energy plants. The continual drive for diversification, enriched by the experience in industrial machinery and in the agro-industrial sector, have led SECI Energia to successfully operate in all fields relating to renewable energy and energy efficiency, from biomass to biogas, from solar energy to wind power and hydroelectric power, from energy recovery to efficient energy management. 9

10 Food and Agro-industry Having operated in the sugar sector for over seventy years with Sadam, in 2009 the Maccaferri Group launched a new project for a natural, flavoursome and responsible sweetener. This led to the creation of Naturalia Ingredients, a company that produces natural sugars from fruit. The company operates the first machine in the world designed to produce glucose, fructose and sugar from grapes in crystalline form, a completely natural and pure product. This was the result of a research and development project to create a new, cutting-edge and globally patented production process. The current factory in Mazara del Vallo, in the heart of western Sicily, covers a surface area of around 30,000 m 2 and at full capacity is able to produce around 8,000 tons of sugar every year. It is a unique union of nature and technology, tradition and future, passion and innovation. The company produces a range of certified, 100% Italian-made products across a range of fields: wine, food, beverages, nutritional supplements and cosmetics. The Sadam Group also includes the subsidiary companies Sadam Engineering, which offers know-how and technical solutions for the sugar industry, and Sadam Meccanica, specilized in structural, precision and metalworking components for the movement of materials. 10

Avanti Cigar Company is an American company acquired by Manifatture Sigaro Toscano in Founded in 1901 by two Italian brothers who emigrated to New York, the company produces the Avanti, Parodi and DeNobili cigar brands. 11

12 Innovation Hub JCube is a Corporate Innovation Hub that aims to support a new generation of businesses and promote the growth of an innovative ecosystem within Italy through specific know-how and networking, physical infrastructure and initiatives. Created as a start-up incubator, JCube is broadening its facilities and activities in order to become a full innovation centre: it has opened its Fab Space, a laboratory dedicated to manufacturing additives, and has launched open innovation, training and acceleration projects in synergy with investors specialising in seeds and venture capital. Its head office is located in a former industrial area, and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities which include the Fab Space testing and prototyping areas and the incubator laboratories for startups. 12
