Our Mission To prepare professionally competent and broadly educated mechanical engineers by developing analytical and research abilities, encouraging culture of continuous learning and by adopting new technologies to solve complex problems. Programme Educational Objectives of Department (PEOs) The educational objectives of the Mechanical Engineering programme are designed to produce competent engineers who are ready to contribute effectively to the advancement of Mechanical Engineering causes and to accommodate the needs of the profession. The Mechanical Engineering Department is dedicated to graduating mechanical engineers who: 1. Shall practice Mechanical Engineering in the general disciplines of design, thermal and manufacturing engineering in industry and establishments in government and private sectors.

2 2. Shall apply fundamental technical knowledge and skills to find workable solutions to technological challenges and problems in various areas of Mechanical Engineering. 3. Shall pursue advanced education, research and development, and other creative efforts in science and technology. 4. Shall conduct themselves in a responsible, professional and ethical manner for the benefit of the industry and society. Programme Outcomes (POs) The programme is targeted at developing the following competencies, skills and abilities amongst students. They shall be able to: 1. Acquire knowledge in the discipline of mechanical engineering, apply fundamentals of mathematics, engineering and sciences and apply technologies to solve complex problems in inter and cross disciplinary areas. 2. Search out relevant technical information, use analytical tools to formulate problems and identify workable solutions. 3. Design mechanical systems, components, or processes to meet their performance needs from considerations of public health and safety as well as cultural, societal, and environmental issues. 4. Engage in R & D pursuits, set up and conduct experiments, analyze and interprete data using tools, techniques and instrumentation in mechanical engineering and interdisciplinary area. 5. Identify, formulate and solve mechanical engineering problems using modern design and manufacturing approaches and computational and software tools. 6. Understand the responsibilities associated with the use of technology & processes on societal & legal issues of concern in respect of health, safety and culture. 7. Understand contemporary issues in sustainable development and in providing technology solutions considering impact of economic, social, political, environmental and global issues. 8. Understand ethical and professional issues and responsibilities in engineering practice, creative enterprise, loyalty and commitment. 9. Communicate effectively in written, oral and graphical forms, provide instructions and present the results in a professional manner. 10. Possess knowledge of management principles, project management and finance, engineering materials, processes and systems working to function effectively, as a member or team leader, in executing mechanical engineering projects under diverse and multidisciplinary environments. 11. Develop ability to engage in lifelong learning, adapt new developments and participate in continuing education opportunities to remain active in the profession and foster personal and organizational growth.

The student of GHRCE can represent there project with other top five colleges IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, NIT Jaipur, VIT Chennai, KVIT Tamilnadu. in this completion. Department of Mechanical engineering student s are demonstrate there ATV at SAE INDIA BAJA-2014, Prithampur, The students of Mechanical Engineering, GHRCE Nagpur have participated in prestigious India s Biggest ATV Event BAJA National Level Off road Car making (ATV making ) Competition at NATRiP Prithampur, Indore, Madhya Pradesh INDIA.This competition was organized by SAE INDIA in association with Mahindra. Mahindra and Students of Mechanical Engineering Department demonstrated their developed Car in this competition. SAE Collegiate Club GHRCE Nagpur,Team AXIOM participate with 25 Member team in SAE INDIA organized BAJA-2014 at NaTRAX facility National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project ( NATRiP) At Prithampur Dist Indore. M. P Sate. In This team consists Mr. N.P.Awate, Faculty Advisor SAE Collegiate Club GHRCE Nagpur, and Prof. A.D, Pitale, Additional Faculty Advisor, SAE Collegiate Club GHRCE Nagpur along with 24 students of Final year and third year was participated in this event. The car was built under the guidance of Prof. Nilesh Awate, Faculty Advisor, SAE Collegiate Club GHRCE Nagpur Department of Mechanical Engineering.In this competition in BAJA aptitude test ( BAT) 5 student of GHRCE were shortlisted in reputed company for HR and PI round General motor, Cummins, Endurance, and Mahindra and Mahindra. Mr. Ravindra Pardeshi student of final year mechanical engineering was finally selected in Cummins India PVT.LTD as Associate Engineer in HR meet held on 25 Feb2014. Experts had interaction session with the students and have given valuable guidelines to students about recent trends available in this technology.

5 One Day Workshop on Manufacturing Technologies in Solar Photo-Voltaic and Gadgets Powered By Solar concept of solar related gadgets and the demonstration of solar equipment. Workshop was beneficial for Mechanical Engineering students to understand the theoretical and practical concept of solar energy. They have explained many important topics related to renewable energy in their talk. Information provided to the students is also useful for pursuing their further research in this upcoming area. Experts had interaction session with the students and have given valuable guidelines to students about recent trends available in this technology. 120 students of fourth and sixth semester BE and second semester M.Tech(HPE) were participated in the event. Project Review Seminar of M.Tech (HPE) conducted by External Expert in Mech. Engg. Guest Lecture organized for the students of II nd Sem M. Tech. CAD/CAM and VI th sem Mechanical Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized the guest lecture on Recent trends in CAD/CAM on Monday 10/03/2014 for the students of M Tech CAD/CAM and VI th Semester of the department. The lecture was delivered by Mr. K. Pravin Kumar, CAE Engineer, Geometrics Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Nilesh Bhagat, Project Head, Geometrics Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Nagpur.About 60 students from VI th semester and 15 students from M. Tech. CAD/CAM attended the lecture. He mainly focused on the product development and the various stages involved in it. He guided the students about the market opportunities in CAD/CAM/CAE and discussed that how the softwares are useful for their final year major project.
