2 About Seminar A seminar on Advanced Manufacturing Technology Used In Mechanical And Space Engineering is the first of its kind of seminar planned in the Gujarat state. The seminar will mainly help in knowledge sharing and value addition of not only the professional mechanical engineers but also of the engineering college faculty and Scientists/ Engineers working in various research organizations. The sharing of knowledge would help the Engineers and industrialists in gearing up for the future technical challenges in the field of Mechanical and Space Engineering in context with Advance manufacturing technology. Technology is the backbone of business of all sizes and is by large an enabler to attain the competitive edge in the market. Advanced manufacturing technologies and techniques (AMTs) have the potential to significantly improve production output, attain quality and stabilize profitability, thereby ultimately serving to meet our manufacturing objectives and goals. AMTs improve manufacturing processes and products through the use of innovative technologies and finds application in all areas of manufacturing, including design, control, fabrication, and assembly. This family of technologies includes Computer-Aided Design, Manufacturing, Engineering & Process Planning (CAD, CAM, CAE, CAPP, CIM etc), Resource Planning, Automated materials handling systems, Control systems, Process Technologies, Flexible manufacturing systems, Custom manufacturing, High precision technologies, Sustainability technologies, High performance computing and advanced robotics, intelligent manufacturing, group technology etc. Space engineering and mechanical engineering are leading industry in the use of advanced manufacturing technologies. This is due largely to the unique challenges that exist for designing aircraft and spacecraft such as extreme environmental conditions, materials that must be strong, lightweight, and resistant to temperature and corrosion and the extremely fine, tight-tolerance features that require micro- and nano-machining methods, including Advance metal joining techniques. In fact, space engineering and mechanical engineering are often the first to come up with innovative advanced manufacturing approaches, which are later adopted by other industries. Below are five key advanced manufacturing (AM) technologies that are vital to aerospace manufacturing today. Additive Manufacturing Composite Materials Robotics Advance metal joining techniques Computer Aided Engineering The Seminar will contain invited talks on above said topics from professionals and academicians from various Institutes like ISRO, IIT s and other reputed industries.

3 About SSME The Space Society of Mechanical Engineers (SSME) came into existence on April 6, 1988 at Space Applications Centre, ISRO, Ahmadabad. It is a registered society under Govt. of Gujarat. The basic aim of the Society is to promote the awareness about technological advancements in the field of Space Mechanical & allied engineering. The SSME organizes various technical lectures, demos and seminars on various advanced topics in SAC campus and at other institutions in collaboration with research organizations, academic institutes and leading industries for the up gradation of technical knowledge and value addition of its members, Engineering colleges faculty members &students, professional working in industries and R&D institutions. The SSME has completed 30 years of its successful existence on 6 th April in The society had organized various technical activities during the year as a part of its 30 years of completion celebrations. About Om Engineering College In the short span OM Education Campus has grown as OM Engineering College, OM Institute of Engineering and Technology, OM College of Science, OM college of Commerce, OM college of Management and OM Center for Research & Innovation as quality focused institutes in a zone ideally located away from the hustle bustle of Junagadh city in a peaceful and natural surroundings. The institute has covered 18 acres with lush green garden. OM Education campus has been founded with sole motive of imparting innovative & contemporary education in Gujarat on global platform for technological progress and fulfillment.
