4 Speakers: Technical Committee report Jake Lake, BCGA Technical Manager, with Darren Pick, Steve Corner and David Hurren representing some of the BCGA sub technical Committees This section will provide an overview of the key changes from the various technical and sub technical committees and their important achievements made over the last twelve months. Biomethane production, applications and incentives for producers and users Ian Davies, Managing Director for The Industrial Gas Projects House With an ever-growing demand for environmentally friendly, alternative energy, the presentation explores the viability of Biomethane as one of these potential sources. Whole-body-cryotherapy; New hype OR effective safe treatment method Pat Viroux, Sport Physical therapist for ProCcare Whole-body-cryotherapy (WBC-T) and whole-body-stimulation (WBC-S) is growing rapidly in popularity. The number of new centres is increasing every day, be it for sports, rehab, wellness or even in the beauty market. Even though WBC-T/S is a non-invasive treatment, during such a treatment session, short bursts of extreme cold are given to the outer surface of your body to stimulate physiological reactions. The use of Cryogenic Liquid Nitrogen is one of the main technologies to deliver those short bursts of extreme cold. Short bursts of extreme cold! No wonder that many questions arise not only on the effect of such a treatment, but also on the safety aspect of such a treatment. And, with the knowledge that WBC-T/S has become quite popular in Europe and the US, the discussion on these questions is an ongoing process. This presentation will give you a better understanding not only of the proven beneficial aspects of WBC-T/S but also of all the measures required to deliver a safe and reliable treatment method. Current enforcement activities and common prohibitions - Philip Lapczuk, Product Specialist for Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency Philip will be looking at the latest figures available for the current year and comparing these with previous years, along with looking at the most common reasons why prohibitions are issued and what can be done to improve the situation for both industry and the enforcement authorities. The need for reliable data in stack emissions monitoring - Simon Medhurst, Consultant for Source Testing Association The presentation will include: What is stack-emission monitoring What kind of pollutants are measured and methods employed The reasons for performing stackemission monitoring The applicable legislation, regulations and standards

5 Practical issues such as typical equipment, working environments and use of compressed gases in the field Future challenges Brexit what does it look like from the EU perspective? Possible opportunities and threats for both sides of the Channel Matt Hinde, Director of Energy for FleishmannHillard Brussels Matt Hinde, will speak on the subject of Brexit, and in particular how the situation looks from the EU-side. This discussion will take place approximately 12 months after the triggering of Article 50 by the British Government and will examine the latest situation, and how this will impact on the Industrial gases sector in the future. In particular, the session will cover how the rest of the EU is viewing the situation, and the potential implications for the industrial gases sector across the EU. The problems of gas cylinders in the hospitality industry use, misuse and abuse Amanda Cockton, Senior Inspector for HSE There have been a number of serious incidents involving gas cylinders in the hospitality industry in recent years. This presentation will give an overview of the typical problems encountered, starting with the cylinder being filled through to use on the licensed premises. Consideration will be given to means of improving compliance, and options for enforcement. Powering the future with hydrogen Jon Hunt, Fleet Marketing Manager for Toyota Jon will give an overview from Toyota s perspective around the growing use of hydrogen in the automotive sector and beyond, covering how they see technology, regulatory and market developments to date and over the coming years. He will explain how Government strategy and support, both for vehicles and filling infrastructure, will play against further development of fuel cell technology and production capacity, the relative demands of different global markets and consumer uptake of these zero emissions vehicles. An example of the Toyota Mirai FCEV car will be at the conference for delegates to view. Keynote Speaker Dr Pixie McKenna Best known as the presenter of Channel 4 s primetime, BAFTA-winning medical series Embarrassing Bodies, Dr Pixie McKenna has seen every condition imaginable and unimaginable, and is utterly unshockable. Trained as a doctor and having practiced as a GP, Pixie moved into TV to entertain and inform viewers, with her experience and knowledge of sexual health, dermatology, women s health and health promotion. From Embarrassing Bodies to Health Freaks on Channel 4, Embarrassing Illnesses and Freaky Eaters, Pixie has become the UK guru of ailments and conditions that are somewhat outside the ordinary. She is also a highly-acclaimed author and practising Doctor in a clinic.
