From 1989 to 2004 he was head of the renewable energy and wind energy divisions at the Energy Research Centre (ECN) in the Netherlands. Between 1986 and 1989 he was a programme manager and researcher at ECN. Jos is a founding member of the Netherlands Wind Energy Association (NEWIN, EWEA, EUREC Agency, European Academy of Wind Energy, International Meeting of Test Stations). In 2008 he was awarded the Poul la Cour prize. In November 2009 he gained an honorary doctorate from the University of Oldenburg, Germany. 1 Offshore experience with Haliade150-6MW+ Alstom Renewable Germany, Managing Director, Markus Rieck Markus Rieck has been marketing manager of Alstom in Germany since January He is responsible for the marketing activities of the thermal power and renewable power energy divisions, i.e. Alstom s entire spectrum of power generation. Since February 2014 he has also been managing director of ALSTOM Renewable Germany and, as such, is responsible for the development and expansion of the renewable power division in Germany with a particular focus on the growing onshore and offshore wind industry. 2 AREVA offshore technologies: a proven technology and the next step AREVA, Executive Vice President, Wind Business Unit, Arnaud Bellanger Arnaud Bellanger has been executive vice president of the wind business unit at Areva S.A. since October He began his career at COGEMA (now AREVA NC) in 1993 as an international sales engineer in the back end business. In 1996 he moved to La Hague to take management control responsibilities and later head up the production procurement and inventory management department. After his return to Paris in 2000, he occupied several positions at COGEMA, initially as key commodity manager, then deputy purchasing manager. Since 2005 Mr Bellanger has been managing AREVA s non-production purchasing department. 3 The Vestas V MW Vestas Offshore, Chief Technology Officer, Torben Hvid Larsen, Denmark Torben Hvid Larsen gained a degree in mechanical engineering in 1997 and a graduate diploma in business administration in From August 1997 to April 2001 he was project manager at Lego System A/S, following which he spent four years as senior project manager for NEG Micon A/S and Vestas Wind Systems A/S, working on a variety of projects. From May 2005 to October 2012 he worked as chief platform manager for 2MW, and from October 2012 to October 2013 as chief platform manager for 8MW, at Vestas Wind Systems A/S. He heads Hamburg-based Fichtner Water & Wind, providing engineering and consulting services in the sectors of offshore wind, civil hydraulics and geotechnics. He was co-author of the Prognos/Fichtner study Cost Reduction Potentials of Offshore Wind Power in Germany, published in He is a member of the advisory board of the VDI Society Energy and Environment (VDI-GEU) and deputy chairman of the VDI expert committee for renewable energies. 5 DONG Energy: Our path to reduce the costs of electricity DONG Energy, Managing Director, Trine Borum Bojsen Trine Borum Bojsen has been managing director of the German wind division of DONG Energy since November A qualified engineer, she gained her initial experience of working in the offshore sector with Grontmij in the Ports and Marine division from 1995 to In 2008 she joined DONG Energy and started in offshore project development. From 2009 to 2012 she was in charge of the cross-market area of environment and licensing and in 2013 took on responsibility for project certification and compliance at DONG Energy for all markets. Since November 2013 she has also been managing director of the German offshore division. 6 Offshore wind project insurance from an EPC contractor s perspective: project covers the EPC consortium, contractor s balance of risks, opportunities to raise premium synergies Nordwest Assekuranzmakler, Managing Partner, Dr Patrick Wendisch Patrick Wendisch has degrees in mechanical engineering and business administration. He has pursued his career in engineering and industrial insurance at Munich Re, Allianz Albingia, Hartford Steam Boiler in the United States, and in the London market. He is managing partner of Lampe & Schwartze Group and its subsidiary Nordwest Assekuranzmakler (Germany s leading renewable insurance broker). Dr Wendisch often holds lectures on onshore and offshore wind insurance. 7 Low-risk maintenance operations: a method and its practical implementation Speaker 1: Hochschule Bremen, Susanne Appel Susanne Appel joined the Institute of Environmental and Biotechnology associated with the University of Applied Sciences in May 2012 as a research assistant. There she works on the R&D offshore wind energy project SystOp Offshore Wind, where she is predominantly active in process management and analysis. She studied landscape architecture at the Beuth University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. Susanne Appel previously spent four years working as project coordinator in a landscape architecture office as well as in the planning department of a distribution company. Speaker 2: wpd windmanager Technik, Head Technical Management Offshore, Dr Carsten Fichter Carsten Fichter studied process engineering and has worked in thermodynamic optimisation at the Grosskraftwerk Mannheim AG power plant and asset management at EWE VERTRIEB (hydropower and onshore wind). He was responsible for operations at the RIFFGAT offshore wind farm and since 2013 he has been head of windmanager s offshore activities. Mr Fichter has done 32

17 Conference programme research on CO 2 storage and the optimisation of geothermal power plants, and he is a consultant for optimising geothermal plants. 8 Quantitative risk assessment and contingency sizing: how increased accuracy can help bring costs down SgurrEnergy, Principal Consultant, Raya Peterson Raya Peterson joined SgurrEnergy in January 2013 as principal consultant. He studied energy and environmental management at the University of Flensburg. At SgurrEnergy he leads and supports diverse technical and commercial advisory services for investors, lenders and developers with a focus on offshore wind energy. Raya and his colleagues are responsible for technical due diligence assignments supporting large, complex project finance transactions and subsequent construction monitoring activities. Furthermore he has developed a particular area of expertise in risk assessment and its quantification a.m. Coffee break Session B Hall 4.1, Room A 9 On the way to lowering costs for offshore wind energy: a focus on engineering und operation concepts Vattenfall Europe Windkraft BU Offshore Wind Projects, Director Commercial Steering, Felix Würtenberger Following his studies in physics in Munich and Seville, Felix Würtenberger took up a position with Vattenfall Europe in Berlin from , responsible for corporate development. In 2009 he took over the management of the business division Control & Support within newly founded Vattenfall Europe Windkraft. Since 2011, Mr Würtenberger has also been responsible for the commercial and financial steering of all European offshore wind projects of Vattenfall within the Business Unit Offshore. 10 Approach to industrial jacket fabrication WeserWind Offshore Construction Georgsmarienhütte, Manager R&D, Dr Sigurd Weise Sigurd Weise graduated in mechanical engineering from Rostock University in From 1992 to 1998 he worked as a research engineer in the laser welding of structural steels at BIAS, Bremen. From 1998 to 2009 he was production and plant manager for tailored blank manufacturing for the automotive industry. Since 2010 he has been working in research and development at WeserWind. 11 Approaches for cost reduction along the entire supply chain Dr Möller / IMS Nord, Director Offshore Engineering, Carsten Engel Carsten Engel holds academic degrees as master mariner in global trade and transport management engineer. Before he took up his present position he gained professional experience in heavy lifting and container ocean freight. Several years in managerial positions in the shipbuilding industry were followed by positions as managing director in the field of global supply chain management and maritime logistics. 18 Conference programme Session C Hall 4.1, Room B Wednesday, 18 June a.m. Session C 1 p.m. NATIONAL PROJECTS EXPERIENCES AND OUTLOOK FROM GERMANY C Chair: OWIA Offshore Wind Industry Alliance, Project Manager for Political Communication, OWIA Berlin Office, Urs Wahl Urs Wahl joined WAB in 2011 as project manager for cluster development and energy policy. He moved to the OWIA Office in Berlin to take up his current position in October Previously he worked as project manager for Thales Instruments and as assistant to a member of the European Parliament. Mr Wahl studied political science at the Universities of Bremen (Germany) and Tampere (Finland). 12 From pioneer work to commercial work: differences between the first offshore wind farm Alpha Ventus and the first commercial wind farm Riffgat in the German North Sea EWE Offshore Service & Solutions, Managing Director, Irina Lucke Irina Lucke studied environmental science and engineering in Vechta. After working for an issuing house in Hamburg, she began working for EWE in Oldenburg in As sub-project manager she was responsible for the substation, infield cabling and some HSE management for Alpha Ventus, the first German offshore wind farm. In April 2010 she became the technical project manager of the Riffgat offshore wind farm, which was completed in July Since then she has been managing director of EWE Offshore Service & Solutions. 13 Challenges during the construction of the Meerwind Süd/ Ost offshore wind farm WindMW, Managing Director, Jens Assheuer Jens Assheuer has been managing director of WindMW since project start-up in Under his responsibility, the Meerwind Süd/Ost offshore wind farm, with a capacity of 288 MW, was successfully completed in April He is also managing director of two other companies working in the construction and operation of offshore wind farms as part of the Blackstone Group, New York. He is experienced in the numerical simulation of waves and swells in the North Sea and the design, construction and optimisation of offshore foundation structures. In April 2003 he graduated with an MSc in civil engineering from the University of Hanover. 14 Lessons learnt and outlook: Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm RWE Innogy, Project Director, Marcel Sunier Marcel Sunier has been project director for the Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm of RWE Innogy since October He holds a degree in electrical engineering as well as an MBA from Kaderschule St Gallen, Switzerland. He has over 14 years of experience working in the wind industry. Since 2004 he has been running his own consulting company, EPC Consulting, which provides professional project management services for offshore and onshore wind projects worldwide. Among other assignments, he successfully delivered the first commercial offshore wind farm Baltic 1 for EnBW in He also is one of the founders of A2SEA a.m. Coffee break 34

19 Conference programme 15 Baltic 2 EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG, Head of Business Unit for Generating Portfolio Development, Dirk Güsewell A graduate in business management, Dirk Güsewell began his career with Robert Bosch GmbH, where his work covered a range of commercial and sales activities during the period 1993 to He then joined EnBW Kraftwerke AG in Stuttgart in the capacity of coordinator for managing board issues, before spending five years there as head of business and organisation development. In 2005 he took up the position of head of technology coordination at EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG in Karlsruhe. Three years later saw a move to its base in Stuttgart where he was appointed head of the renewable energies division. In recent years he has held the positions of managing director and board member with the company in Stuttgart. He is currently head of their business unit for generating portfolio development. 16 Gode Wind: the next generation wind farm DONG Energy, Head of Asset Management Portfolio Germany, Felix Pahl Felix Pahl, born in 1976, joined DONG Energy in 2011 and heads up the asset management portfolio for German projects. He is also Deputy Programme Director for the Gode Wind projects. Previously, Felix Pahl worked for Siemens Financial Services and Hochtief in the roles of investment and project manager for M&A projects respectively and managed several transactions in the renewables sector. He studied civil engineering at the Technical University Kiel and holds an MBA from the Nordakademie in Elmshorn. Session C Hall 4.1, Room B 17 The Butendiek challenge: structure, experience and status wpd offshore solutions, Managing Director, Martin Lehnhoff From 1998 to 2004, Martin Lehnhoff was head of the mechanical design department and project manager for the development of the Multibrid M5000 at aerodyne Energiesysteme in Rendsburg. He was managing director at Multibrid in Bremerhaven with responsibility for company development, development/design and manufacturing. He is president of EWEA and past chairman of the BWEA. He is a chartered engineer with a PhD in theoretical fluid mechanics, a Fellow of the IMechE, the EI, the RAEng and the RAeS. He is an Honorary Fellow of New College, Oxford. In 2006 he received the EWEA s Poul la Cour prize for outstanding achievement in the wind energy field. He was awarded an honorary DEng by the University of Bristol in He founded Garrad Hassan Group in 1984 and is currently a member of the supervisory board of DNV GL Energy. 19 The importance of offshore wind energy in the energy sector and for the German Energiewende: a study Offshore Wind Energy Foundation, Head of the Office, Dr Dennis Kruse Dennis Kruse studied mechanical engineering with a focus on energy and environmental technology at the Bremen University of Applied Sciences. He also completed studies for a master s in production engineering at the University of Bremen. He joined the German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation in February 2013 as head of the office in Varel and is currently working on the Offshore Test Site Research project. 20 KPMG Offshore Wind Study 2013: the industry seen by the stakeholders KPMG Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbh, Partner, Rainer Heidorn Rainer Heidorn has been working as a lawyer since He joined KPMG Law as partner in 2012 and heads the Bremen office. Since 2001 he has been regularly advising developers, investors and banks on wind energy projects (onshore and offshore) in Germany and abroad. He has been working at GGEB for four years, during which time he was project manager for the financing of the C-Power offshore wind project (Belgium, 325 MW, EUR 1.3 billion investment), closed in November 2010, and for the financing of the Meerwind offshore wind project (Germany, 288 MW, EUR 1.2 billion investment), closed in August He was part of the GGEB team involved in the financing of the Northwind offshore wind project (Belgium, 216 MW). He supervised GGEB s advisory mandate with EDFEN for the French offshore wind tender 1 and New offshore wind developments in the Netherlands: ambitious roll-out plans and cost reduction targets in a new regulatory system Session D Hall 4.1, Room C TKI Wind op Zee, Programme Manager, Bob Meijer, Netherlands Bob Meijer is programme manager for TKI Wind op Zee, the Dutch organisation that manages R&D and innovation for offshore wind. TKI Wind op Zee is part of Topsector Energy, a Dutch government programme for the development of specific high-performing industry sectors. The programme currently has over ten projects targeted at cost reduction. Mr Meijer has a background in the project development of offshore wind projects in the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK. He holds an MSc degree in physics and engineering from the Delft University of Technology and has specialised in fluid mechanics and boundary layer meteorology GW by 2030: UK offshore wind market development and opportunities UK Trade & Investment / Offshore Wind Investment Organisation, Managing Director, James Beal, UK James Beal was appointed as an advisor to the UK government in May In his role as the chief operating officer of the Offshore Wind Investment Organisation he is looking to maximise the local economic benefit created by the offshore wind market in the UK through securing new and significant investment into the supply chain. 22 Conference programme Session E Hall 4.1, Room C Wednesday, 18 June p.m. Session E OFFSHORE SUBSTATIONS INSTALLATION AND OPERATION E Chair: DONG Energy, Senior Manager, Peter Petersen, Denmark Peter Petersen holds a position as chief specialist within the substations functional area at DONG Energy Wind Power Engineering and as such is responsible for the technical aspects of design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of onshore and offshore substations and other offshore platforms until the handover to operations. He has been working on offshore structures for the North Sea for 25 years, first in offshore oil and gas, and the past twelve years in offshore wind. He holds an MSc in structural engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He was previously project manager for the Borkum Riffgrund 1 offshore substation which was installed in the summer of 2013 and as such is familiar with the German offshore industry. Peter Petersen believes there are some lessons to be learned from the more mature oil and gas industry which can be seen in the substation solutions used by DONG Energy. 24 Looking back and ahead: what are we learning from the construction, transport and installation of offshore platforms? Speaker 2: ALSTOM Grid, Design Engineer, Sven Höpfner Sven Höpfner is a member of VDE (German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies). He studied electrical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences for Technology, Industry and Culture (HTWK) in Leipzig. From 2002 to 2007, he worked as research assistant at the Institute of Electrical Power Systems and High Voltage Engineering, TU Dresden. In 2007, he took up the position of design engineer with Areva T&D, which is now ALSTOM s transmission business, ALSTOM Grid. His primary area of work is wind energy transmission and distribution. 25 Service of offshore substations: interdisciplinary, challenging, exciting! Deutsche Windtechnik AG, Director, Matthias Brandt Matthias Brandt studied economics at the University of Bremen. Having held several other leading positions, Mr Brandt has been involved in the set-up of various independent service units in the wind technology sector since Several of these enterprises have merged their activities under the roof of Deutsche Windtechnik AG. Mr Brandt has been a member of the executive board of Deutsche Windtechnik AG since

23 Conference programme 26 Offshore substation realisation: improving the quality reducing the risk DNV GL Energy, Segment Leader Future Transmission Grids, Peter Vaessen, The Netherlands Peter Vaessen received a cum laude MSc degree in electrical engineering from Eindhoven Technical University, Netherlands, in The same year he joined KEMA (now DNV GL Energy). In his 29-year career he has held research positions in the field of large power transformers and high-voltage measurement and testing. He has managed realisation projects, among them the construction of Dutch 400 kv substations and test facilities. As a principal consultant he has more than 10 years experience in (U)HVDC technology and in the quality assurance of key primary equipment, as well as in future transmission and distribution grids with high levels of RES and DG integration. He is actively involved in the technology strategy of DNV GL Energy for laboratory developments. He is spokesperson of the board of the European Distributed Energy Resources Laboratories (DERlab) and member of several standardisation working groups. He has successfully chaired and participated at international panel sessions and conferences, delivered numerous presentations, workshops and training sessions, published some 40 papers and coached some 100 undergraduate students (university and polytechnic). From 1993 to 2000 he was campaign coordinator for Greenpeace in Germany, working on climate change, energy efficiency policy and renewable energy. After that he was engaged as project manager for offshore wind at the Deutsche Energie Agentur (dena), in which position he was responsible for project cooperation between Germany s federal government and individual states. From 2002 until 2010 he was managing director of the Wind Energy Agency Bremerhaven/Bremen (now WAB). Since 2011 he has been managing director of the Renewable Energy Hamburg Cluster. 28 Lessons learned in UK offshore wind farm developments: underestimating construction and installation times and costs SgurrEnergy, Director of German Operations, Matthias Henke Matthias Henke is in charge of SgurrEnergy s Hamburg office and works with his team on offshore and onshore wind projects in Europe. After his start in the wind energy industry in 1999 in the development of wind energy projects, he worked as technical advisor to onshore and offshore projects. His experience includes providing a considerable number of independent engineering services for offshore and onshore wind projects around the world. Among his clients are international banks, investors, utilities and developers. Mr Henke has degrees in electrical engineering and economics as well as an MBA in international management. 29 From bottleneck to oversupply? Do current vessel specifications meet the coming market requirements? DNV GL Energy, Head of Section Offshore, Peter Frohböse Peter Frohböse is a structural engineer. In 2004 he joined GL Group in a professional capacity as appointed expert for wind turbines and site assessment in the certification business. He was soon assigned to head the onshore certification team. In 2009 he joined GL s consulting unit as team leader and senior expert. In this role he worked on several consulting and engineering projects. At DNV GL he is head of the offshore section in Germany. He has been responsible in many projects for advising project developers and contractors and providing technical advice to investors and banks. 30 The financing of the Gemini 600 MW offshore wind project in the Netherlands: the largest-ever non-recourse financing Green Giraffe Energy Bankers, Managing Director, Dr Jérôme Guillet, France Jérôme Guillet is a founder of GGEB, which was created in early 2010 and focuses on financial advisory services for the renewable energy sector. He has 15 years experience in the energy project finance industry, with a specific focus on offshore wind. Under his leadership, GGEB helped close large non-recourse financings for the C-Power, Meerwind, Northwind and Walney projects in the past three years. Gerdes Gerhard Gerdes has been managing director and senior consultant at Deutsche WindGuard since He has worked in the field of renewables, with a focus on wind energy, since He was a science tutor and research scientist at the University of Oldenburg for eight years, and from 1990 to 2000 was head of the system technology department at the German Wind Energy Institute (DEWI) in Wilhelmshaven. 31 Guidance for diving on renewable energy projects Nordseetaucher in cooperation with the European Diving Technology Committee (EDTC), Managing Director, Claus Mayer Claus Mayer has over 35 years experience with offshore, inshore, nuclear, tunnel and research diving projects. These include drill rig installation, production platform services, SBM installation, pipeline inspection and maintenance, SBM pipeline wet welding, salvage operations, offshore wind farm installation, deep sea trenching, rig abandonment, saturation diving down to 600 metres, ADS diving and ROV services, hyperbaric tunnel construction and diving in compressed air and mixed gas, and repair and maintenance work under water in nuclear power plants. 32 Opting for second best in safety? Vessels as a high-performance resource Bugsier-, Reederei- und Bergungs-Gesellschaft, Project Head, Carsten Wibel Carsten Wibel was active as technical officer on container, bulk and special ships for 15 seagoing years, most recently on the Oceanic, an ocean-going tug belonging to the Bugsier-, Reedereiund Bergungs-Gesellschaft. During this period he also completed studies for a graduate degree in ship operation engineering. After two years of R & D in ship safety and environmental protection he moved in 2000 into organising operations from land. As project manager he has worked on developing specialised ships such as the Nordic, an emergency tug. In an honorary capacity he also heads the offshore wind energy standards committee. 33 Shared offshore coordination centre: reducing investments, synchronising operations, sharing transport capacities EMS Maritime Offshore, Division Manager Marine Coordination, Thomas van der Laan After gaining his degree in industrial engineering for shipping and logistics, Thomas van der Laan worked as technical assistant and service coordinator for several shipping companies. In 2012 he joined EMS Maritime Offshore, a shareholder of WINDEA Offshore, and became marine coordinator. His team is currently working on four offshore wind farm projects. 42

Until 2007, he was at the University of Munich s Klinikum, in surgery and anaesthesiology, and at the affiliated Institute of Emergency Medicine and Medicine Management. He is an anaesthetist and emergency physician with many years of experience in mountain and hoist rescue operations. He worked for 13 years in the oil industry for Shell in various roles within the areas of HSE, business improvement and cultural change, both locally and globally. After completing his doctoral thesis on fatigue in wind turbines at the TU Berlin, he worked in the wind industry for 15 years for companies such as aerodyn, GE Energy and Bharat Forge as project engineer, director of engineering and managing director before returning to the research community in The GICON -TLP for wind turbines: an economical and ecological floating foundation solution GICON, Managing Partner, Prof Dr Jochen Großmann Jochen Großmann is managing partner of GICON Holding, GICON-Grossmann Ingenieur Consult and the IfAÖ Institut für Ökosystemforschung. Born in 1958 in Dresden, he graduated from the Technische Universität in Dresden in 1982 and gained his doctorate there in power plant automation. He then went on to complete his habilitation thesis on the complex energetic and ecological evaluation of technical processes, during which time he spent one year at the Moscow Energetic Institute. In 1989 he became head of the environmental protection division at the OR- GREB Institute for Power Plants, Dresden before going on to take up his current positions. Since 1998 he has lectured at the Technische Universität in Dresden and the BTU in Cottbus, where for the past seven years he has held the position of honorary professor for the management of environmental and rehabilitation projects. 38 Individual wave fields and wave forecast from X-band marine radar: increasing safety and efficiency for offshore operations OceanWaveS, Senior Sales Representative, Christian Boddenberg Christian Boddenberg has over 15 years experience in the maritime sector. He sailed for four years on survey vessels and seismic research vessels for British/American companies. Following this he spent ten years specialising in the sale of maritime navigation and communication systems and solutions from Germany. During this time he was the commercial product manager for ECDIS, a leading company in the global marine market. He has spent the last 15 months with OceanWaveS as a sales representative and is responsible for their radar applications Wave and Current Monitoring System (WaMoS II). 39 Floating concepts DNV GL Energy, Head of Department Renewable Energy, Service Line Leader Offshore Renewable Energy, Johan Sandberg, Norway Johan Sandberg is service line leader for offshore renewable energy at DNV GL Energy, based at DNV s headquarters in Oslo, Norway. He has global responsibility for DNV GL s advisory services on offshore renewable energy. Mr Sandberg has previously worked in offshore oil & gas, business risk management and been head of the renewable energy department at DNV. For ten years, from 1997 to 2007, he was managing director of the private research and expert company TMH - Dr Graff und Partner. In addition to his current position, he is an external examiner at the Technical University Tswane in South Africa and external lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg, Germany. He is a member of GfKORR, the corrosion protection society, as well as two other expert committees on corrosion. He has published and spoken widely on his specialist areas. 41 Overview of zinc-based galvanic corrosion systems for offshore wind energy structures International Zinc Association, Director of Technology and Market Development, Frank E. Goodwin, Belgium Dr Frank Goodwin serves as director of technology and market development at International Zinc Association (IZA). Dr Goodwin joined International Lead Zinc Research Organization (ILZRO) in 1982 and was executive vice president of ILZRO at the time of the merger between ILZRO and IZA in He gained his MS and ScD degrees in materials engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and a B.Sc. degree (with distinction) in materials science and engineering from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA. 42 Corrosion resistance of protective paint systems applied on steel structures in marine and offshore situations: experiences from the naval industry French Corrosion Institute, Research Leader Transport Industry, Dr Nathalie Le Bozec, France Dr Nathalie Le Bozec graduated from a school of chemical engineering and gained her PhD in corrosion science at the University of Brest (France) in She then joined the Swedish Corrosion Institute (Stockholm, Sweden) in 2000 as postdoctoral fellow. In May 2002, she moved to its newly opened subsidiary, the French Corrosion Institute in Brest (France), where she further developed activities in accelerated corrosion testing with special emphasis on the transport sector. She is now responsible for R&D activity for the transport industry, including coatings, and also has the position of assistant director. 43 Thermal spray for wind turbines: application techniques of thermal spray coatings for corrosion protection of wind turbines Metallisation Ltd, Sales Director, Stuart Milton, UK Since joining Metallisation in 2003, Stuart Milton has managed the company s sales and export shipping functions, driving UK and export sales of Metallisation s thermal spray product range to over 75 countries. Alongside the product and processing development of zinc semi-finished goods and materials, he is responsible for applications technology and the introduction of new products. Following his studies in engineering and materials technology, he graduated from the RWTH Aachen. Before working at Grillo-Werke he spent more than ten years as project manager in a global engineering company. 45 Requirements on high-performance coating systems under low-temperature offshore conditions: long-life performance under harsh conditions Muehlhan Deutschland, Head of R&D, PD Dr Andreas Momber Andreas Momber has worked for Muehlhan Deutschland for ten years, prior to which he spent time abroad in a professional capacity in the United States (Center for Robotics Manufacturing Research in Lexington, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and the University of Tulsa, Tulsa), in the UK (University of Cambridge) and in Australia (Industrial Research Institute Swinburne in Melbourne). His professional engineering background in Germany includes the Leipzig University of Technology, the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Hanover, WOMA in Duisburg, and the RWTH Aachen. He holds a degree in process engineering, a PhD in civil engineering and a habilitation in tribology. Since 2013 he has been business leader in research within IWES and is currently coordinating an EU project proposal. He is also project leader for a number of research and industrial projects in the online monitoring and forecasting of wind energy feed-in for widely distributed supply structures. 71 Update on the PISA project: PISA a joint-industry project on laterally loaded piles DONG Energy, Project Manager, Dr Jesper Skov Gretlund, Denmark Jesper Skov Gretlund joined DONG Energy as a project manager in 2012 with responsibility for several R&D projects related to monopile foundations. He is active in establishing cooperation with external partners on technology and innovation. These projects, including PISA, have been launched to continuously challenge and expand the boundaries for offshore design. Mr Gretlund holds a PhD in physics from the University of Aarhus and a degree in finance from Copenhagen Business School. He has a background as a researcher in several fields such as materials science, optics and accelerator physics. 72 Offshore foundation monitoring: realising cost savings by using a model-based monitoring concept airwerk, Technical Director, Jens Krieger In the last 15 years Jens Krieger has planned and implemented meteorological and structural measurement systems for many offshore wind farms including Alpha Ventus, Arkona Becken, AmrumBank West and Robin Rigg. Since joining airwerk as technical director in 2011, his main focus has been on consulting on and creating measurement concepts and implementing measurement systems to determine the structural integrity of offshore wind turbines. He works in fatigue investigation of steel structures for offshore wind power plants, which includes investigating the corrosion behaviour of steel structures and protection systems. He studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg and started his career at Sogeclair Aerospace in Hamburg, which is involved in work for Airbus. Mr Hofmann worked on developing a metallic fuselage, with a focus on testing new aluminium alloys and constructions.
