2 GUEST OF ROTARIANS: TOM CLELAND introduced Mel Schatz, guest of Tom Cleland LUNCH: Vintage Valley Catering served a luncheon of pork loin, rice, mixed veggies, mixed green with apples and a balsamic reduction, with cookies for dessert, 3 yums. (yum scale is 1-5, with 5 being excellent) ANNOUNCEMENTS: President John announced the induction of Arthur Stein into the Healdsburg Rotary Noon Club. Arthur is from the Locust Valley Rotary in Long Island, New York. President John announced there will be a meeting at his home tomorrow, Tuesday, October 27, 3 pm to discuss plans for the Geyserville parade. Jean Herschede announced projects passed by the board. These are international scholarship projects: 1) Project Amigos, 2 ea for a total of $1,200 2) Project Amigos de Guatemala $1,600 3) Project Siemens recap, Ankor Wat, $2,1 4) 20 PP Kent Mitchell announced an award to Hospice Services of St. Joseph s in the amount of $500 for the annual tree lighting in the Healdsburg Square.
3 PP Kent also announced an award of $5,000 to the Alliance Medical Center, My Body is Healthy program. Gloria Egger announced this year s Thanksgiving Seniors Luncheon is on Monday, November 23. She passed a volunteer sign-up sheet around the room. Volunteers are asked to bring a pie and a wrapped raffle gift. John Merget announced the status of ticket sales for the 2015 Crab Feast and Auction. Silent auction room has some seats left. Place your order on the website. Six of eight booths in the bar area are taken (booths set 6). In the silent auction room 11 of 11 round tables are taken (8 per table), additionally 6 of 11 rectangle tables (10 per table) are taken. There are a total of 198 seats in the live auction room. Max Dunn announced this year s Rotary live auction item, an instant wine cellar. Each member of the club is asked to bring 2 bottles, maximum, of their finest wines to collectively auction at the crab feast. Rich Norgrove announced that the Bear Republic would like to contribute all of its profits from the next 6 Tuesday s to the Lakeport Area Rotary Clubs Valley Fire Relief Fund. The Healdsburg Rotary Noon Club has agreed to match up to $2,000 in donations from the Bear Republic. President John announced the Rob Jacoby memorial service will be on November 15 at the Tayman clubhouse. See the sign-up sheet; he is looking for a head count. President John announced anyone wearing part of their old military uniform to our November 9 meeting would receive a get out of jail certificate worth up to 50%. Tom Reed will be our speaker that day.
4 RECOGNITIONS: President John thanked Nita Parker for helping to defray most of the cost for the DG s lodging on her recent visit. Doug Ruthnick was recognized for the birth of a granddaughter, $25 to his Paul Harris. Brent Stanley was recognized for a recent trip to NYC and Bermuda, $50 to the scholarship fund. INTRODUCTIONS OF SPEAKERS: Bob Freelen introduced today s Red Badge Craft speakers: John Merget and Sally Hubbell. John talked about family, work history, and restored vintage cars. Sally talked about raising her family and the long journey to become an ordained minister. RAFFLE: Sally Hubbell had the winning raffle ticket; however, the black ball remained elusive. She was awarded a bottle of Bertapelle wine as a consolation prize.
