See Jane Brown for details: (985) President s Report:# # This Saturday, November 7th, we will be having our third annual ATTIC sale located in the parking lot of Clearview Mall where Veterans Boulevard and Clearview Parkway intersect.to everyone who will be helping with this undertaking, I can not thank you enough for giving up your precious Saturday as well as the many hours of preparation which will have gone into the making long before the 7th actually arrives and the sale begins. While it may seem to some that the Attic sale is not worthwhile, it actually is a money-maker for our Association.With our many goals for the future, we need these funds. Beverly Boulet and her committee are working on the particulars of re-creating our National Show. And, yes, this requires money. Not that we are destitute (because we certainly are not), but, extra dollars will go a long way with our goal of being able to offer nice cash awards and that is what will attract great artists, and lots of them. And to further promote our Association, Jean Snow and her Cookbook Committee are working toward creating a book which will showcase stunning artwork from our members, appetizing recipes, and a little history as to why our culture and food are so enjoyed by everyone who visits as well as those who reside here. SO, don t forget to gather your recipes, and soon we will announce how to compete for your art work to be in the cookbook. It s so exciting to move forward with a goal and direction. Encourage them to join us we are open to all aspiring artists Glinda Schaefer and November s demo: # After years of viewing Glinda s beautiful pastel and oil paintings, I wanted to ask her to demonstrate for us how she develops her dramatic landscapes which have a low horizon line, leaving space for the development of perfectly executed clouds that serve to evoke the mood of the painting. I know you will be interested to see her develop this pastel scene during November s demo. Taken from Glinda s website:# I believe there is beauty in the most ordinary of landscapes so I strive to capture the light and mood invoking a sense of peace in the viewer. This is why I work en plein air whenever possible. Working outdoors develops my appreciation for the fine nuances of color in light and shade. But the most rewarding experience is the element of surprise that's always waiting...a foraging critter, a hidden wildflower or a fleeting ray of sunlight spotlighting something that was previously overlooked. Glinda regularly exhibits locally as well as across the U.S. She is a charter and board member of the Degas Pastel Society as well as an Associate Juried Member of the Pastel Society of America. In addition to being an active member of NOAA, she belongs to the West Bank Art Guild, the Performing Arts Association of Foley, Al, and most recently her painting titled "Stormy Sunset, II was one of 20 artworks selected from the Pastel Society of America International Exhibit in NY City to be displayed at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections across the U.S., South America, Europe, and Great Britain.
