1 ENDLESS INNOVATION Today, vast amounts of information are running across the transmission at extremely high speeds. OPTICAL FIBER Samsung offers a full line of optical fibers for all network applications, and we work to ensure our products are of superior quality and performance that will provide continuous and reliable operation for our customers. Our numerous customers around the world and our ever-growing market presence continue to confirm our excellent reputation, top-notch quality, and first-rate performance of our optical fibers. Our optical fibers have also been recognized by Tecordia GR20 Issue 3 for its proven quality. WidePass (ITU-T G.652.D) Bendfree (ITU-T G.657.A) Bendfree+ (ITU-T G.657.A2) Ultra Bendfree (ITU-T G.657.B3) UltraPass (ITU-T G.656) WidePass Bendfree Bendfree+ Ultra Bendfree UltraPass Low Water Fiber Bend Insensitive Fiber Ultra Bend Insensitive Fiber Non-zero Dispersion-shifted Fiber For several years, the optical fiber manufacturers have worked to minimize the water peak attenuation loss, allowing for proper transmission, even at wavelengths within the 383 nm range. These reduced water peak fibers are considered full spectrum because the reduction of loss in the water absorption spectral region (the E band) allows transmission in this previously unusable portion of the spectrum. When standard fiber is used, the fiber must be installed very carefully to ensure that no small bends along the fiber path to avoid loss. The bending requirement for deployment limits dimensions of hardware and imposes significant costs for FTTH installations. The strong needs for FTTH solutions are optimized for installation in-home. However, there are many challenges associated with the deployment indoor environment. For in-home wiring applications, bend radii in the range of 5 mm are very common due to restricted spaces, sharp corners, and the use of staplers to secure cables. Samsung's UltraPass fiber is suitable for the next generation networks such as high speed wide band, long haul system, etc. due to the large effective area compared with conventional NZ-DSF, it minimize the non-linear effects for high capacity system. 4 5
2 WidePass Provides steady performance across the full spectrum of transmission wavelengths Low Water Fiber (ITU-T G.652.D) W idepass single-mode optical fiber (ITU-T G.652.D) is designed to provide full optical transmission over the entire operating wavelength range from 260 nm to nm (O, E, S, C, L-band). It has a low attenuation in E-band (360 nm to 460 nm) by eliminating the water peak permanently, which opens up the unusable band for additional bandwidth expansion. WidePass fiber complies with ITU-T G.652.D requirements and not only meets or exceeds the current industry standards, but also customers expectations. WidePass fiber are optimized for metropolitan and access area network applications and its longterm reliability is guaranteed over the entire life time of the cabled fiber. With even more improved and reinforced specifications in major optical and geometrical parameters, Samsung's WidePass single-mode optical fiber is the product of choice for current and future optical networks ± ± 0.5 Low optical loss across the entire spectrum from 260 nm to nm Tested and passed all the applicable requirements of Telcordia GR-20, Issue 3 The advantage of Raman system due to the high amplification efficiency Long term reliability due to the optimized dual-layer coating structure Low PMD for higher data rate and longer distance Excellent compatibility with any commercial single mode fibers 8.0 Zero Dispersion Wavelength (λ0): 300 nm λ0 324 nm Zero Dispersion Slope (S0) ps / (nm² km) - Maximum Individual Fiber PMD: 0. ps/ km * PMDQ: PMD (Polarization mode dispersion) Link Design Value calculated in accordance with IEC :200, section 5.5, Method, September 200 Long haul telecommunication cables High data-rate voice, video and data communication cables CATV cables Local access, Metro loop transmission cables Cladding Diameter: 25.0 ±.0 μm Core-cladding Concentricity: 0.6 μm Cladding Non-circularity:.0 % Coating-cladding Concentricity: 0 μm Environmental Test Test Condition Induced Attenuation (db / km) Temperature Dependence Temperature Humidity Cycling -0 ~ 85 C up to 98% RH Water Immersion Heat Aging Damp Heat Point Discontinuity (@30 nm & nm) db Cable Cutoff Wavelength (λcc ) 260 nm Attenuation vs. Wavelength 285 nm ~ 330 nm wavelength range The attenuation in the above wavelength range does not exceed the attenuation at 30 nm by more than 0.05 db/km 525 nm ~ 565 nm wavelength range The attenuation in the above wavelength range does not exceed the attenuation at nm by more than 0.03 db/km 0.69 GPa (00 Kpsi).0 ~ 8.9 N.0 ~ 5.0 N 8 6 7
