1 Zero Zelienople Rotary Weekly Bulletin JANUARY 20, 2017 CLUB CHARTERED 1924 NO DISTRICT 7280 We started the meeting with a prayer by Craig Lutz, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Today s Program - Part I: Rotarians Recognize CVE Student of the Semester Thank you for honoring me with this award. I am very grateful for your recognition. With her parents, brother, sister and school principal present, Madeleine Tomo, a fourth grader at Connoquenessing Elementary School, thanked the Rotary Club of Zelienople for recognizing her as the CVE Student of the Semester. Principal DeeAnn Graham said that when she asked teachers for nominees for the award, the first name that came up repeatedly was Madeleine s. She spoke highly of Madeleine s positive presence at the school and said the student wants to give back to the community. Mrs. Graham thanked the club for involving CVE in our student recognition program. Some of the written comments from teachers were shared in the presentation. Mrs. McMasters wrote, Madeleine is a wonderful rolemodel within her classroom and community. Her compassion and kindness is inspiring to those around her Her passion to help those around her always shines through. Teacher Mr. Groves added, I had the privilege of working with Madeleine last year on an international fundraising event. Madeleine initiated an event to help people in Africa drill for clean water and develop as a community. She planned, coordinated, and executed the fundraiser with maturity and compassion beyond her years. She also influenced other students to follow in her footsteps Club member Robin Fleming coordinated the award presentation and spoke about reviving our student recognition program with CVE. As all five of her children attended the school, she said, CVE holds a special place in my heart. President Ron Elliott presented Madeleine with the award.
