Column is an accurately machined casting with a 100 mm (4in) diameter barrel rising and falling 350 mm (14 in) by screw motion. ARM. The arm carrying the saw unit swivels 45 0 each way to the fence line. Principal angles are located by tapered lever and powerful lock is also provided. It is a rigid casting carrying two circular hardened steel slideways. CARRIAGE. Carriage is mounted on four specially designed, sealed-for-life double row angular contact ball bearings, for complete rigidity and smoothness. The outer journals of these bearings are grooved to run on replaceable hardened nitralloy steel rods. The carriage can be locked at any position along the arm. Carriage can be rotated through and the motor and the cutler spindle tilts inside the yoke to any angle between horizontal and vertical. Tapered levers locate all principal angles and powerful locks are fitled on all movements. MOTOR. Motor is a totally enclosed fan cooled squirrel cage induction type of special mechanical construction, controlled by start and stop push buttons operating a magnetic contactor type starter having no-volt and overload features. GUARD. The guard is fully universal to give maximum safety at all positions. It is fitted with kickback safety device and riving knife for ripping. It embodies adjustable dust chute to discharge dust away from operator.
