2 Marvel Series 8 Mark II Universal Tilt-Frame Vertical Band Saw The Marvel Series 8 Mark II has a capacity of 18 x 22 (18 diameter round) with an 18 x 28 high column option. It meets a wide variety of sawing applications. Customers include: structural steel & fabricators, foundries, tool & die shops, pipe fitting shops, and steel service centers. 2

4 Tilt Lock & Pivot Bearing Mechanism Miter cutting setup is simple and accurate with the quick acting tilt lock and pivot bearing mechanism. Tilt indicator scales are conveniently located on each side of the machine, with positive stops at 45 left and right. 4

5 Vise Jaws When miter cutting, the vise jaws can be easily positioned to provide clearance for the saw frame. 5

7 Guide Arm Adjustment The upper guide arm is easily adjusted with the handle located on the left side. The height scale is calibrated to ensure the guides clear the work. Constructed from cast iron, this design has been proven to dampen vibration and noise, increasing cutting performance while reducing the cost per cut. 7

9 Blade Guides The carbide blade guide assembly virtually eliminates noise and vibration. The guide system offers six points of contact for maximum support and accurate sawing. Two solid carbide guides support the sides of the blade while a pressure block applies a slight forward preload. 9

10 Upper Band Wheel Assembly Cast iron wheels reduce vibration while sawing. A large wheel diameter helps to reduce blade fatigue. Safety interlocks on both band wheel doors prevent the operation of the saw during blade changes and maintenance. 10

11 Automatic Blade Tension The Saw Column, carrying the band wheels and blade, is mounted on a cast iron carriage with six evenly spaced, permanently sealed ball bearing rollers traveling on machined rails. Once the blade is in place, a few strokes on the ratchet handle which is equipped with a positive stop, ensure correct tension every time. Alignment screws are provided to adjust blade tracking. 11

12 Control Panel Simplicity of operation is one of the Series 8 Mark II s greatest features. The operator friendly controls, mounted at a comfortable work height, include just four selector switches and a handy speed 12 and feed selector chart.

13 Large T-Slotted Table The cast iron table with four machined T-slots for vises and work holding fixtures, has more than 800 square inches of work area. Hardened Steel Wear Strips minimize table wear. 13

14 Convenient Saw Controls Feed pressure, blade speed controls are conveniently located on the front right hand side. Feed pressure is adjustable up to 140 lbs. by sliding the feed pressure indicator along the direct-readingreading balance beam. 14

15 Positive Blade Drive The 8 Mark II blade drive features a 2 H.P. TEFC motor and speed selector, variable speed pulley with a poly-vee drive belt. Blade speeds range from 50 to 450 FPM. 15

16 Automatic Column Traverse Stops Adjustable stops on the 8 Mark II can be set to limit the forward and return rn travel of the column, and to shut off the saw at the completion of a cut. 16

17 Blade Cleaning Brush A powered blade cleaning brush and two coolant jets help keep the blade clear of chips, increasing blade life by reducing the recirculation of chips through the cut. 17

18 Coolant Pump A large 21 gallon coolant reservoir and 1/8 H.P. coolant pump supply ample coolant to the cutting area and blade cleaning brush assembly. A flushing hose is furnished to aid the operator in cleaning the machine. 18

19 Electrical Disconnect A NEMA 12 enclosure combined with a mechanical disconnect offers full lock-out tag-out safety. Square D and Allen Bradley are just a few of the many brand name components included in the Marvel 8 Mark II. 19
