3 In the course of time, our extensive experience has made us quite good at this flooring business. The herringbone parquet of the first years has developed over time into a whole range of different floor alternatives. Today our range covers everything from wood floors and other click floors to textile, cork and ceramic tiles. The market s broadest floor range, to put it simply. In this brochure we present our different wood floors together with some new click-type floors with vinyl and Nadura surfaces. What they all have in common is that you simply and quickly install them with 5G click joints, and - that we have produced them ourselves, with the highest quality standards in our own factory. It has all the great properties of real wood: warmth, comfort and the varied character of a natural material. But in Lightwood the wood layer is a little thinner than in old-fashioned parquet. Therefore it costs less and you can choose from exclusive types of wood and modern patterns without having to worry about the total cost. MaxWood Our strong and sturdy 10 mm wood floor MaxWood is a new interpretation of the classic parquet. With a thinner wood layer on top of a hard HDF wood fibre board we have been able to apply an even stronger, more durable lacquer. The durability is further strengthened by damp- protected click joints and on the back, a sound absorbing layer of Catwalk, reducing both clattering sounds and resonance. Read more about MaxWear Stone on page MaxWear MaxWear is an innovation where we combine a hard HDF wood fibre board with a surface layer of extremely durable vinyl. The floor is very durable against both marks and wear, but without becoming hard, cold and uninviting. The soft surface and the noise-reducing CatWalk backing make MaxWear a more pleasant alternative to high pressure laminates. MaxWear Stone Did you really want ceramic floor tiles in, say, your hallway, but think it s to difficult to install and feel that the hard, cold ceramics a bit uninviting? Then our new MaxWear Stone is the perfect choice. It is an easy to assemble click floor with an HDF core. The soft and warm surface layer of homogenous wood fibre has a ceramic tile appearance and is warm, but very durable. The 26x56 format looks exactly like ceramic floor tiles with built-in joints. 9

11 Modern flooring in real wood Real wood - just a little less You have to live with your floor every day. Your eyes meet it every morning; your feet will take many steps across it. Therefore, you have to be careful when you choose; it has to appeal to all your senses. It has to feel comfortable and be pleasant to walk on. It must not creak or make noise. But above all, it has to be beautiful to look at and provide a good background to all the things that taken together make up your home. Lightwood is a smarter floor, made from real wood, with all the good properties that can only be obtained from real wood. Warm, soft and with a character rich in natural variation. However, Lightwood has a slightly thinner wood layer than traditional wood floors. This means it also costs less, especially when it comes to modern patterns and exclusive wood types. With Lightwood, regardless of budget, you can always choose the wood floor you really want! 11

13 Modern flooring in real wood Flooring is fashion It is easy to believe that we have always had oak on the floor, but it is not so. Not too long ago, it was Cherry, before that Beech and even earlier Pine. The only constant in floor fashion is change - which you cannot avoid by sanding! With Lightwood, you can easily, and for a reasonable cost, change floor. You avoid the problems associated with sanding; noise, bad smells and dust. Instead, you can follow the trends and with simple means change your home so it always feels modern and up-to-date. 13

15 The details of a smarter wood floor Lightwood is built up of natural materials, primarily wood fibers. However it has an updated layer construction giving it advantages without sacrificing any real benefits. It has a sturdy construction, still it s slim and easy to fit. It uses the wood material in a cost effective way, but still has all the natural beauty of real wood. The laquer protects the wood layer from wearing, dirt and stains. But without obscuring the lustre and color. The HDF core layer is a sturdy foundation with 5G click system binding the tiles together with effortless speed. On the back side a paper based balance layer evens out tensions from temperature and humidity variations. The veneer layer renders the floors wonderful appearance. 19 A robust and strong wood floor An uncompromised wood floor. A little thicker, a lot stronger With a lifelong tradition in wood flooring we have developed a new material for the uncompromising wood floor enthusiast. A wood floor for surfaces where wood normally isn t an option. MaxWood is simply an authentic wood floor, but with an unusually modern and durable construction. Therefore it can withstand more wear. And you can enjoy it s beautiful appearance so much longer. The foundation for MaxWoods durability is the core, which consists of compressed wood grain, much harder than even the hardest types of wood. The hardness makes it almost insensitive to blows and point load, which also means it s a sturdy foundation that allows us to top it with a much harder lacquer. The result is a natural, real wood floor, but with extreme wear properties. 19

21 Classical beauty, modern construction MaxWood is an innovative floor material opening up new potentials for wood floors - and completely new possibilities to decorate with wood. With a well concieved construction and smart material selection it can withstand much more wear without losing the natural advantages of a wood floor. Beautiful and comfortable, without compromises when it comes to durability. The lacquered surface with MaxGuard s diamond-like hardness increases the durability far beyond the properties of regular wood floors. The core, which consists of an HDF wood board of sturdy dimensions makes the floor stable. The 5G click joints make the floor extremely easy to assemble. The protective impregnation of the joints gives greater damp resilience than regular click floors made of wood grain material. The CatWalk layer at the back is both an integrated underlay material and an effective core noise muffler with a porous mix of wood grain and microscopic air bubbles. REAL WOOD The MaxWood surface is made of real wood. This means natural colour-tones and the beautiful lustre of real oak, ash tree, walnut etc. Real wood also gives a natural, lively and varied graining where every board is unique. DEEP GOING STRENGTH MaxWood s core consists of highly compressed wood fibres which can withstand most kinds of impacts without giving in. We have also given the joints a protective impregnation which makes them more damp resilient than regular wood fibre material. SURFACE DURABILITY Thanks to the sturdy foundation material we have been able to put a rock-hard MaxGuard lacquer on top. Few, if any, wood floor lacquers on the market keep their lustre for longer and are more resilient against scratches. WONDERFUL COMFORT A real wood surface makes the floor warm, soft and less noisy. We have further increased the comfort with a noise muffling back - CatWalk - which effectively muffles core noise 21

25 A tougher floor material You don t need to be hard to be tough Golvabia s newly developed floor material MaxWear is an attractive combination of softness and strength. In one and the same material extreme durability is combined with an invitingly soft comfort - a hard-to-beat alternative to high pressure laminate when wear and tear demands are tough. MaxWear is a kind of "soft laminate" where the durability does not come from extreme surface hardness, but rather from the resilience of the material. This produces pleasant comfort without compromising anything when it comes to wearability. The high comfort is further enhanced by an integrated sound absorbing layer, "CatWalk", and the durability is strengthened by protective impregnation of the click joints. 25

27 Soft durability, tough comfort MaxWear is made of carefully selected components, resulting in a revolutionary combination of comfort and technical properties. A new material offering many advantages and meeting extremely high demands on both durability, noise properties and attractive design. The surface layer made of 0.55 mm cross-linked vinyl is a soft, rubbery and extremely durable material which also gives some flex and muffles noise. Its grained pattern enhances both appearance and feeling. The core which is made of an HDF wood board of sturdy dimensions makes the floor stable. The 5G click joints make the floor extremely easy to install. The protective impregnation of the joints gives greater damp resilience than regular click floors made of wood grain material. HARD-TO-BEAT COMFORT MaxWear s surface layer is made of a vinyl that gives soft flex as well as a warm and comfortable feeling. At the back of the board there is a noise muffling CatWalk layer. DEEP-GOING DURABILITY MaxWear is not only durable against abrasive wear of the surface. Its rubbery texture also makes it resilient against impacts and resistant to crush marks and cracks. ATTRACTIVE DESIGN High class patterns in different wood types and colours are combined with an imprint which both enhances the pattern s graining and gives a comfortable surface. EASY TO INSTALL MaxWear is an easy to assemble click floor that is assembled in the same way as regular wood and laminate floors. The underlay material is also integrated in the CatWalk layer. 27

31 Softer than floor tiles, tougher than stone MaxWear Stone is a new natural material which looks like stone. The surface is made in Nadura technology, where grained recycled wood fibre is compressed under high pressure, simultaneously dying and embossing a stone or floor tile appearance. The material offers the looks that many want, but without the disadvantages of stone or ceramics. You install it as a regular click floor, even on wooden structures, where stone or floor tiles would crack. The solid surface layer is more flexible than stone, but just as durable, since the abrasion wearability is combined with an ability to withstand sudden impacts without cracking. A softer material also has other advantages: it has a flex which absorbs noise and makes it comfortable to tread on. It is also warmer and more pleasant to touch. 31

34 Surface treatment and lacquers WHAT S BEHIND THE SURFACE - Our wood floors have an advanced protection system that makes them extremely resistant to wear and tear. The floors are prefinished with a durable UV-cured polyurethane/acrylic based lacquer that is solvent free and applied in 6 layers that form a very strong protective barrier. Moreover, the top coat contain nanoparticles that increase the resistance to micro-scratches, so the floor surface keeps its newly laid lustre longer. TOPGUARD SILK Silk-matt lacquer has a lustre that gives the floor a modern and austere look. A lacquered wood floor is also hardwearing and very easily cleaned, as dirt and dust do not fasten. TOPGUARD MATT Our matt lacquer resembles a natural or only carefully oiled wood surface, preserving the various wood types natural character. Even so, the floor is hardwearing and easy to maintain. MAXGUARD On MaxWood floors the wood surface has been treated with MaxGuard. This is a new type of harder UVcoating only applicable on hard wood veneer floors, thereby further enhancing sturdiness and wearability. STRUCTURE BRUSHED If you want a distinct wood feeling, then you choose a model with a matt lacquer and structure brushed surface. This emphasises the wood s natural grain, which provides a clear and rustic character. 34

35 AquaPreg joint impregnation Wood based floors traditionally have a soft spot when it comes to water. Moist can easily be absorbed by the wood fibre and cause the board to swell. On MaxWood and MaxWear our focus is on sturdiness and durability. Therefore we have given them a protective impregnation of the joints, making them much more damp resilient than regular click floors made of wood grain material. CatWalk sound absorber A hard floating floor can sometimes cause resonance and raised noise levels. To prevent this we have given our floors, MaxWood and MaxWear, a built-in sound absorber. The CatWalk layer at the back of the floor board is both an integrated underlay material and an effective resonance absorber. CatWalk is a paper with a porous mix of wood grain and microscopic air bubbles. 5G click system With our click floors, anyone can lay their floor. The 5th generation click-system makes them extremely quick, easy and secure to lay. The short sides are vertically pushed into place in a single and simple movement. 1. Push the plank tilted into the long side s joint until the short sides meet. 2. Then lower the plank straight down and push firmly. The short side locking strip flexes back when you push. 3. When the planks are exactly level, the strip springs out and locks the plank s vertical position. Done! 35
