3 A natural explanation Junckers was founded in 1930 by the visionary forester, Flemming Juncker. Even in those days, Flemming Juncker s attitude was that no timber should be wasted an attitude which should be a matter of course in all companies today. The first wooden floor was produced more than 80 years ago and even though through the years, we have become a large and international group, we still live up to Flemming Juncker s uncompromising attitude: No wood must be wasted. We are conscious of our responsibility as a company and it is our attitude that nature should be enjoyed and respected at the same time. We have an active environmental department. The job of the environmental staff is not only to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment in and around our own plant, they are also responsible for ensuring that the raw materials, which are involved in our production, live up to the stringent demands of the world we live in. No matter where in the world we source our timber, we only use timber from controlled forestry. This approach ensures not only the future of the forests but also yours and ours. 3

4 Ash Wide Board Classic Ash Ash grows naturally in Europe and USA. Heights of up to 60 metres and diameters of almost 1 metre have been measured. Ash is a beautiful wood species with a characteristic grain pattern in light and golden shades. Over time, the natural ageing gives the Ash an even deeper golden glow. Dark Ash has a very characteristic and vivid appearance. The dark brown heartwood is a beautiful contrast to the lighter parts of the wood.

5 The floor is an important part of a room. Depending on the use of the room, the floor should be either sufficiently neutral to give room to other elements or sufficiently characteristic to play a more dominant role. As a natural material, solid wood has many advantages compared to most other floor materials. 7 Nordic Ash Wide Board Classic Nordic Dark Ash has a bleached Scandinavian appearance. The white translucent stain highlights the grain of the Dark Ash. Nordic Ash has a white pigmented ultramatt lacquered surface giving the wood a Nordic elegance and enhancing the beautiful structure of the wood. 7

8 Oak Wide Board Variation Holmes Place, England Oak Oak comprises more than 200 species; 12 of these grow in Europe, 80 in North America, and the rest in Asia. Most often the trees become metres tall and old trees can have a diameter of almost 3 metres. The Oak is characterised by being hard and hard-wearing with a clear and interesting grain structure. Natural ageing gives the wood a golden glow.

11 Black Oak Variation Black Oak is known from ancient times as one of nature s own materials, but it is not a wood species you can find in the forests. This makes it both interesting and exclusive - and also adds a touch of mystery. In brief, bog oak is formed when oak logs lie for hundreds of years in a bog. This starts a process which gives the wood a very special dark shade. Junckers recreates this process. 11

13 Our products are not only thought through from an aesthetical point of view. They have been created in order to enable us to offer the best flooring solutions. This is the only way to satisfy the various demands imposed on building projects today. As with all other natural materials, wood is influenced by the course of nature. Low air humidity, typically in colder winter periods, makes the wood contract while it expands again in warmer summer periods when the air humidity increases. Junckers wide board floors withstand large temperature fluctuations and are, therefore, a sensible and energy saving solution for under floor heating. Junckers wide board floors can be laid on any level and dry subfloor, either by means of Junckers clip system, on battens, or with Junckers glue system. 14 Jatoba Wide Board Classic (with Oak Wide Board Moulding) Jatoba grows naturally in Mexico, Central America, Brazil, Bolivia and Peru. A Jatoba tree can become up to 40 metres tall with a diameter up to 1 metre. The wood has a warm, deep colour which ages to a darker glow. Jatoba is a hard wood species which makes it attractive for different environments.

15 Style, atmosphere A solid wide board floor adds much more to a room than just a stable walkway. The possibilities of creating any impression through the selection of the floor are unlimited. Dark, exotic wooden floors like Merbau, Jatoba or Jarrah fit well into large, light, and open rooms. The contrast between a light wooden floor such as Ash and dark furniture is also a beautiful and inviting combination... and individuality Still more people want to put their personal mark on their wooden floor to be creative and create their own style. Our range of accessories is extremely comprehensive. It makes it possible to lay the floor in patterns and to create different, individual effects. This can be done, for instance by inserting special mouldings, combining different wood species or letting one wood species encircle another. Merbau Wide Board Classic (pattern in Oak Wide Board Classic) Merbau is very widespread in south-east Asia in low-lying tropical forests, particularly in southern Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. Merbau can become 45 metres tall with diameters up to 2 metres. The fresh wood is yellowish but on exposure to light the colour quickly changes to a beautiful reddish brown shade which darkens gradually over time. Jarrah is one of the many eucalyptus species growing in Western Australia. Normally, the tree becomes up to 40 metres tall and has white flowers in the early summer months. The wood is characterised by a reddish mahogany sheen and a dark grain structure. All wide board floors are 20.5 mm thick and prefinished from our factory. 17 Merbau Wide Board Jatoba Wide Board Classic Ultramatt lacquered Ultramatt lacquer gives an almost invisible sealing of the floor. In this way the wear-resistant advantages of the lacquer is combined with the natural appearance of the oil. Silk matt lacquered Silk matt lacquer gives extra trength and durability and a beautiful, lustrous sheen. Classic Oiled Oil gives a warm, dark and silky matt appearance and enhances the natural structure of the wood. Untreated Jarrah Wide Board Oak Wide Board Classic Because of the size of the photos, the shown variants are not 100% comparable in respect of colour and grading. Easier choice Some types of timber are available in different categories, each with its own character: Classic, Harmony and Variation. Classic is the floor with the most even colour and uniform appearance and with little colour variation and few knots. Harmony has a more natural appearance with some colour and grain variation which gives the room a touch of elegance. Variation has a very rustic appearance with large colour and grain variation and many dark knots. All Junckers solid wide board floors are also available as Shipsdecking. 18 Ash Wide Board Shipsdecking Classic laid in pattern Ferry terminal in Koege, Denmark Shipsdecking Feel the sea You will get a quite different and beautiful wooden floor if you choose Shipsdecking which is a classical floor with a characteristic and exclusive appearance. The shipsdecking look enhances each individual board and gives the floor a harmonious and robust expression. Between each board there is a black, flexible neoprene strip which in combination with the solid boards gives any modern home a maritime and elegant atmosphere. Shipsdecking is available in all types of timber, grades, and surface finishes. If you select Junckers Shipsdecking, the neoprene strip absorbs the movement in the floor so that it looks the same all year round. Your thoughts naturally turn to hot days at seaside. Almost as if you were there yourself all year round. Floor heating Solid wooden floors optimum on floor heating Floor heating is a both economical and very comfortable form of heating and is becoming more and more popular. However, not all types of floors have the necessary qualities to benefit from floor heating. Wood has a natural heat in itself and is the preferred option for floor heating. Contrary to tiles and stone, wooden floors are warm and pleasant no matter whether the heating is on or not. With Junckers Clip System the floor can be laid as a floating floor on top of most modern floor heating systems. This applies to heating systems based on both electricity and hot water as long as they have the right heat distribution. A water based solution is normally used for new buildings and large renovation projects. The electricity based solution is a good option for DIY projects, for instance in one or two rooms. Electricity based solution on existing concrete floor Water based solution with heating pipes cast in concrete Like most natural materials, wood is influenced by the different climatic conditions depending on the time of year. Wood expands when the humidity is high and contracts a little during dry periods which may result in some minor natural gaps between the floor boards. Therefore, it is important always to make sure that the top surface temperature does not exceed 27 degrees Celsius.

19 Jatoba Wide Board Classic Sabin Welness Center, USA Laying Very simple Junckers solid wooden floors are very flexible and easy to lay. They can be laid on any type of existing subfloor in the room as long as it is flat. Junckers floors can be installed in three different ways: Fast and flexible clips With Junckers unique Clip System, the floor can be laid directly onto the existing surface without using nails. This system, which we invented more than 30 years ago, is ideal for all types of underlying flat surfaces. Laid as a floating floor, Junckers wide board floors can be installed directly onto a concrete or wood surface without using battens. Thanks to the unique Junckers Clip System, the finished floor, is only 23 mm higher than the subfloor. Traditional installation battens If you wish to hide pipes or cables beneath the floor, or if the subfloor is uneven it can be laid on battens. Junckers wide board flooring is a traditional, self-supporting system which can be secretly nailed to battens packed up onto a solid surface or nailed to a frame of joists. They can also be secret nailed to subfloors of wood based materials such as boards or plywood. Secret nailing means the nails are not visible. Gluing Junckers Parquet Glue The last option is to glue Junckers solid wide board floors to the sub floor with Junckers Parquet Glue. This makes for the ultimate feel and sound of the solid wooden floor. It is quick to do and gives a very stable and quiet floor. Gluing direct onto a flat and even subfloor has become a very popular solution for large and open areas where minimal step drum noise is required. No matter which method is used for the installation, Junckers solid wide board flooring is a perfect solution for underfloor heating as the floor adapts to the seasonal changes in temperature and humidity. Accessories Junckers has a wide range of accessories for wooden floors. You can get mouldings and skirtings, thresholds, radiator pipe covers, etc. in the same type of wood as your floor. This ensures a beautiful and consistent finish. 20 Maintenance A healthy and easy solution With a solid wide board floor from Junckers you have the optimum possibilities of ensuring a beautiful and functional floor for many years. All the wide board floors are solid and can be sanded down several times without any effect on the stability of the floor. All our floor boards are delivered prefinished from the factory, i.e. oiled with Rustic Oil or lacquered with Isolacquer which are both specially developed and produced by Junckers taking due account of the particular characteristics of the wood. The extra time we spend on the surface treatment gives a perfect, hardwearing almost furniture quality finish which in addition to the beautiful appearance is also easy to maintain without using strong detergents. The floor is easy to keep free of dust, house dust mites, and allergens and thus contributes to a healthy and allergy friendly indoor climate. It only takes a minimum daily effort to keep clean a wooden floor from Junckers. Daily cleaning is simple vacuuming or wiping with a well wrung out cloth using Junckers SylvaCleaner dissolved in water.
