3 Page 3 Introducing the Grand Island Series We are excited for you to preview the Grand Island Sleeper a seating/sleeping solution designed by a project team from HDR Architecture in collaboration with David Edward. This product is the result of several years of product development initiatives between HDR and David Edward specifically targeted for healthcare environments. We all know how important family members are to the patient caregiving process. Our goal with the Grand Island Sleeper was to focus on visitor comfort, to provide a stylish and tangible symbol of a hospital s desire to put families first. We also knew that what we designed needed to be comfortable and, of course, highly durable to withstand the wear-and-tear associated with healthcare furnishings. The Grand Island sleeper is the first in a series of companion products. We chose to tackle the design challenges of the sleeper first as we knew it would be the most complex. Not an easy problem to work through, we studied many options and created a number of prototypes. We are thrilled that, in the end, the Grand Island sleeper achieves the goals we had set forth: it is a highly customizable seating solution that folds into a sleeper quickly and efficiently (with no moving mechanism) to serve multiple functions in the limited space of the family zone. Standard options within the product line will allow the designer and client to customize the product to meet individual needs and price points.

5 List Prices and Options Page 5 The unique features of the Grand Island Sleeper Sofas allow for a multitude of custom options for maximum versatility in a variety of stylistic and functional settings. Begin with a choice of two basic frame sizes (GS1 or GS2) and then choose your options custom suited to your style and setting. Your options include Option 1: Base, Option 2: Arm Unit, Option 3: Arm Cap and Option 4: Front Kick Panel. GS1 or GS2 + Base Arm Unit Arm Cap Kick Panel Custom sizes are available for the Sleeper Sofas. Please note that we can easily facilitate changes to the width of the unit. The depth and height are more difficult to revise as they impact the folding process generating the sleep surface. The following sizes are being developed, or are already developed: Chair, Settee and non-sleeping Sofa. Also available are armless sofas or one arm sofas if a wall niche needs to be accomodated. Flip shelf on back allows a complete sleep surface, yet allows the cushions to flip between sit and sleep position. If shelf is not desired, subtract 346 List and reduce fabric yardage by 1.5 yards. Removal of shelf must be requested upon ordering. 10 Page 10 Additional Features Sleeping Mechanism: An intuitive, physically undemanding operation allows the back and the outback cushions to fold over onto the seating surface. No metal components or mechanisms, affording long-term function, as the double reinforced seams all feature a luggage stitch detail. The cushions have plastic zippers to allow for perpetual upgrades to the foam cushions. Shelf Option: Standard on all Grand Island Sleep Sofas. A hinged, protective back shelf may be added as an option. The shelf opens to allow the back and outback cushions to fold over onto the seating surface. The shelf may then be closed to providing a 6 larger, no gap sleeping surface. Back Handle: A quadruple cross stitch pattern on both ends of the handles by durable polyester thread ensures the handles strength and color coordination. Seat Cushion: The one piece seat cushion is reversible, zippered and recoverable. The seat is straped and clipped into place to insure access to the crumb slot for easy cleaning.

11 Page 11 Crumb slot: A full length 1.75 slot is provided in the frame to facilitate cleaning under the removable seat cushion. Arm Caps: Removable arm caps with two clip fittings available in wood, upholstered, corian, and field recoverable. Arm Cap Fittings: Extra heavy duty.095 gauge steel with zinc plate clips are attached by countersunk #6 flat head screws. The two interlocking flushmount clips are installed under the arm caps and on top of the arm units to allow the arms to be removed by slightly tapping with a rubber mallet on the back of the arm. Dimensions of clips: W1.5 x L1.75 x D1/8. Corian Arm Caps: We offer any other solid surfacing material on a custom basis. We review the quantity of arm caps required with the material cost from the suppliers to supply you with a final cost. Corian is only available as a full sheet and thus we recommend at least three sleepers or more to cost effectively switch from the standard white glacier corian. Field Recoverable Arm Caps: A sewn cover with four strips of Velcro connections not only hold fast the upholstery but allow for easy recoverability of the arm caps in the field. Additional covers are available. Arm cover COM required per pair: 1.25 YDS. Drawer Storage: Inside dimensions: W27.75 x L14 x H3.75. The all white laminate drawer interior facilitates cleaning. The full extension, heavy-duty Accuride slides facilitate drawer movement and a satin nickel handle is flushed into the front face of the drawer. Optional finishes are available, such as matte chrome. Please contact David Edward for pricing. Casters: The twin wheel casters are made from the highest quality nylon and lock on both the swivel and wheel. They have precision ball bearings in each wheel making for easy mobility and have non-marking polyurethane threads. Please specify locking or non-locking (same price for both). Standard color: White with grey accent. Wheel diameter: 3. 4 caster load capacity: 600 lbs. Metal Legs: Made from solid aircraft grade aluminum and available in any standard David Edward aluminum finish. Glides: White plastic glides are integrated into the underside of all legs. Metal leg glides measure 1.75 x.63. Wood leg glides measure 5 round for each leg.
