1 ASSEMBLY & DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS for SUNNEN MPS-ANR TOOL/DRIVESHAFT CONNECTIONS I-ANR-260 GENERAL The following instructions cover the assembly and disassembly of Sunnen Wide Range Modular Honing Tool when using with Sunnen AN OR ANR Style Hone Heads (see Figure 1). DRIVESHAFT EXTENSION ANR-741 (9.25"/235 mm) ANR-742 (19"/483 mm) ANR-744 (42.75"/1086 mm) ANR-746 (72.25"/1835 mm) HONE HEAD ANR Style - Bolt Together Style: Requires MPS-E2015 and MPS-2220A to connect to HTA U-Joint MPS-175 U-JOINT MPS-2230A MPS-ER22 MPS-2235A DRIVE & FEED EXTENSION MPS-E2015 (5.9"/150 mm) MPS-2220A Output Adapter HONE HEAD MPS-2220A Output Adapter MPS STYLE - SCREW TOGETHER: Connects directly to HTA U-Joint MPS-175 U-JOINT MPS-2230A MPS-ER22 MPS-2235A DRIVE & FEED EXTENSION MPS-E2015 (5.9"/150 mm) MPS-E2040 (15.7"/400 mm) MPS-E2100 (39.3"/1000 mm) MPS-E2160 (63"/1600 mm) ADAPTERS TO CONVERT MPS DRIVESHAFT TO BOLT TOGETHER CONFIGURATION (ANR STYLE) (OPTION) One of each part number required per MPS driveshaft. 2 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS ANR STYLE - BOLT TOGETHER STYLE: REQUIRES MPS-E2015 AND MPS-2220A TO CONNECT TO MPS/HTA U-JOINT GENERAL Assemble the Sunnen Wide Range Modular Honing Tool as follows (refer to the following Figures): WARNING ASSEMBLE HONING TOOL AS SHOWN. FAILURE TO INCLUDE DISASSEMBLY RINGS OR TO USE MORE THAN ONE RING PER FITTING COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE HONING TOOL AND EQUIPMENT. 1. Select MPS-E2015 Drive & Feed Extension, MPS-2200 Adapter Set, ANR Driveshaft Extension, & AN/ANR Style Hone Head. To obtain the necessary length of your Honing Tool, two or more ANR Driveshaft Extensions may be bolted together. (Refer to the following Figures & Table 1.) 2. Screw Input Yoke Adapter (MPS-2230A) with Disassembly Ring (MPS-E22) on threaded male end of Drive & Feed Extension (MPS-E2015). 3. Slide Universal Cover (MPS-2235A) on Drive & Feed Extension (MPS-E2015). DRIVESHAFT EXTENSION ANR-741 (9.25"/235 mm) ANR-742 (19"/483 mm) ANR-744 (42.75"/1086 mm) ANR-746 (72.25"/1835 mm) 6. Insert Hone Head Module on end of Output Adapter, ANR-Style Drive & Feed Extension, and secure with four Screws (provided). 4. Screw Output Adapter (MPS-2230A) with Output Feed Adapter and Disassembly Ring (MPS-E22) into threaded female end of Drive & Feed Extension (MPS-E2015). 5. Bolt Driveshaft Extension (ANR- )on end of Output Adapter using the four Screws (provided). 7. Install Honing Tool on the Machine by aligning Input Yoke Adapter on Honing Tool with Drive Ring, and guide adapter onto Hex Shaft. 8. Rotate input Yoke Adapter (clockwise) to engage and Lock into the Drive Ring on the Spindle Nose.. 2

3 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS (CONT D) ANR STYLE - BOLT TOGETHER STYLE: REQUIRES MPS-E2015 AND MPS-2220A TO CONNECT TO MPS/HTA U-JOINT TABLE 1, ANR Style - Bolt Together Style - Requires MPSE2015 & MPS2220A to connect to HTA U-Joint Part Number Qty Description 1 MPS-E Drive & Feed Extension (5.9 in. / 150 mm) 2 MPS-2220A 1...Output Flange (for connecting Extension to ANR-Style Driveshaft) 3 ANR- 1...Driveshaft Extension (select one or more) ANR Driveshaft Extension (9.25 in. / 235 m) ANR Driveshaft Extension (19.0 in. / 483 mm) ANR Driveshaft Extension (42.75 in. / 1086 mm) ANR Driveshaft Extension (72.25 in. / 1835 mm) 9. Slide Universal Cover into operating position over Input Yoke Adapter. 10. Pull back Release Ring and tilt hone body as shown. 11. Pull the ANR-210 Pinion all the way out. 12. Place the racks of the stone and guide assemblies in holes marked "X" as shown. 13. Put ANR-2l0 Pinion back in place. 14. Pull back Release Ring, line up hone body, and allow Release Ring to return to engaged position. CAUTION Stone Assemblies and Guides MUST be firmly seated on Master Holder Assemblies to prevent them from breaking loose during the honing operation and damaging the workpiece or the Honing Tool. 3

4 ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS MPS STYLE - SCREW TOGETHER: CONNECTS DIRECTLY TO MPS/HTA U-JOINT GENERAL Assemble the Sunnen Wide Range Modular Honing Tool as follows (refer to the following Figures): WARNING ASSEMBLE HONING TOOL AS SHOWN. FAILURE TO INCLUDE DISASSEMBLY RINGS OR TO USE MORE THAN ONE RING PER FITTING COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE HONING TOOL AND EQUIPMENT. 1. Select MPS-Style Drive & Feed Extension, MPS-2200 Adapter Set, & AN/ANR Style Hone Head.. To obtain the necessary length of your Honing Tool, two or more MPS-Style Drive & Feed Extensions may be screwed together (Refer to the following Figures and Table 2 & 3.). DRIVE & FEED EXTENSION MPS-E2015 (5.9"/150 mm) MPS-E2040 (15.7"/400 mm) MPS-E2100 (39.3"/1000 mm) MPS-E2160 (63"/1600 mm) 2. Screw Input Yoke Adapter (MPS-2230A) with Disassembly Ring (MPS-E22) on threaded male end of Drive & Feed Extension (MPS-E ). 3. Slide Universal Cover (MPS-2235A) on Drive & Feed Extension (MPS-E2015). 6. Install Honing Tool on the Machine by aligning Input Yoke Adapter on Honing Tool with Drive Ring, and guide adapter onto Hex Shaft. 7. Rotate input Yoke Adapter (clockwise) to engage and Lock into the Drive Ring on the Spindle Nose.. 4. Screw Output Adapter (MPS-2220A) with Output Feed Adapter and Disassembly Ring (MPS-E22) 1nto threaded female end of Drive & Feed Extension (MPS-E2015). 5. Insert Hone Head Module on end of Output Adapter and secure with four Screws (provided). WARNING FAILURE TO HAND TIGHTEN ALL FITTINGS COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE HONING TOOL AND EQUIPMENT. 8. Using the Hone Head Module as a lever, hand tighten Drive and Feed Assembly by turning Hone Head Module clockwise to ensure ail fittings are tight. 4

Slide Universal Cover into operating position over Input Yoke Adapter. 10. Pull back Release Ring and tilt hone body as shown. 11. Pull the ANR-210 Pinion all the way out. 12. 6 DISASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS GENERAL Disassemble the Sunnen Wide Range Modular Honing Tool as follows refer to the following Figures): WARNING SAFETY GLASSES MUST BE WORN WHEN REMOVING DISASSEMBLY RINGS. USE CARE WHEN REMOVING RINGS TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO HONING TOOL AND EQUIPMENT. 3. Use A Center Punch (or Chisel) to break Disassembly Rings at notch. Remove Disassembly Rings by driving out with a Flat Punch (or Chisel). Discard old rings. 1. Remove Master Holder Assemblies from Adapter Block Sets by loosening two (2) Socket Head Screws using 3/32 Hex Wrench. Remove Adapter Block Sets from Stone & Guide Extensions in Hone Body by loosening three (3) Socket Head Cap screws using 5/16 Hex Wrench. 4. Unscrew Input Yoke Adapter from Drive & Feed Extension. 2. Remove Honing Tool from Machine by pressing Release Pins and turning Adapter counterclockwise to unlock it from Drive Ring. Slide Adapter off Hex Shaft. 5. Unscrew Hone Head Module from Drive & Feed Extension. Inspect parts for signs of wear or damage and replace as necessary.
