2 MIT DowelSCAN Faster The MIT-DOWEL-SCAN system provides nondestructive testing of dowel bars in plain concrete pavements as soon as you can walk on the concrete. Faster Set-Up in the Field No rails to assemble or move Truly a single person operation pick up the laser & push the device to the next joint Faster joint relocation & alignment allowing more completed tests per hour 2

3 MIT DowelSCAN Simpler Configuration Improved design eliminating system components. Hard wire connection, removable battery. Single Transport Case Integrated Data Collector attaches to the scanner Easier Battery Charging - Data Collector includes scanner battery detaches for charging. Real Time Results: magnetic image map is generated as the joint is scanned. Quantitative results shown immediately after scanning the joint 3

4 MIT DowelSCAN Accurate The MIT-DOWEL-SCAN system is still very accurate & repeatable Provides depth, translations, deviations, skew and tilt to within tenths of an inch precision. MIT-DOWEL-SCAN has 10 sensors and a laser to guide the unit along the joint with same great accuracy and repeatability Easier transfer to MagnoProof 5 with USB A port on the data collector. Post test data processing is via a 10 sensor/signal version of MagnoProof 5 Meets ASTM E

5 MIT DowelSCAN Laser Alignment Joint alignment is fast: Set the AA battery powered laser on the edge of the pavement Align the scanning unit with the laser using the green lights in front. Red lights appear when not aligned Retract transport wheels 5

6 MIT DowelSCAN Automatic Alignment Scanning Unit automatically maintains alignment during the test. The operator does not steer the device during the test Allows observation of the real time mapping 6

9 MIT SCAN-T3 New Features Added GPS can return to the reflector location quickly Added additional sideways search bar - to assist in locating reflectors quickly Replaced the keypad with a mouse button Can automatically detect reflector size & type One piece design prevents accidental interchanging of head and main body. 9

10 MIT SCAN-T3 New Software Improved firmware provides alerts including moving too fast & starting to far from the reflector Allows preloading of test location descriptions New software that produces reports and performs statistical analysis of multiple tests. 17 Added USA Services Dowel Bar Scanner Verification Services for older devices including the original SCAN2 to certify that system is still within manufacturer s tolerances In conjunction with MIT capable of adjusting calibration settings to return devices to manufacturer s tolerances. (Corrects drift in older devices) Calibrating MIT SCAN-T2 & T3 devices. Provide on-site comparison of devices to confirm that systems are accurate. Provide on-site Operator Training & Certification program MIT SCAN-T2/T3 reflectors made in the USA with standard commercially available materials 17
