4 Server Information Factorio Versions ExplosiveGaming Factorio servers 1, 2 and 3 are all running the latest version of Factorio and are usually updated within an hour of a new version being released. Factorio Version History Updating to the correct version Since the Factorio servers are always running the latest version, You can use the bottommost option in the Betas drop-down menu. (Which is 0.16.x at the time of making this tutorial) Below you can find a step by step picture assisted tutorial on how to do this: Step 1: Right-click on Factorio in your steam library and click "Properties"

5 Step 2: After the properties window opens you click on "Betas" in the top right corner.

6 Step 3: Open the drop-down menu and select the bottom-most option. (Keep in mind that the latest version is 0.16.x at the time of making this tutorial but might be different for you)

7 You can now close the properties window. After the game finishes updating you are ready to play on the ExplosiveGaming Servers!

9 Server Information Server Resets The ExplosiveGaming Factorio server maps reset on a regular basis. You can find the reset schedule down below. Or you can click Here. Why do the servers reset? Since there are so many people playing the maps tend to get large very quickly. This can cause performance issues for both the players and the server. Meaning the maps will get unplayable, even for players with a good PC. When do the servers reset? Server 1 and 2 reset regularly so there is always a fresh server to play on. they reset on a staggered schedule at around 16:00 UTC Server 3 resets weekly for the players that like to continue playing after endgame. 10 Server Information Train Loops The creation of loops in a train network is forbidden on all ExplosiveGaming Factorio servers! Why is it not allowed to make loops? There are multiple reasons for not allowing loops. A few of them are listed below: 1. Loops will cause server lag due to trains having to recalculate every block in the network when there is a loop. 2. A train might go through a mining station if a loop is created there as it could be the shortest path. While passing the station there is a chance of the train collecting a few unwanted items. This can cause major issues if the stations don't have Filter Inserters. 3. The use of roundabouts is also not allowed due to the limited throughput of trains we would much rather use a t-junction or a 4 way intersection. What is a loop? A loop is anything that connects the two sides of the track together (yellow in picture below).

11 What do I do if someone makes a loop? Politely let them know that it is not allowed. If they don't believe you or have questions about it. You can refer them to this page. For more information about the train system standards used by ExplosiveGaming please refer to Trains and Rails

12 Server Information Trains and Rails LHD or RHD? All trains systems on the ExplosiveGaming Factorio servers Are required to be LHD (Left Hand Drive). This rule exists to make sure maps won't end up having both LHD and RHD as this would cause issues when connecting both systems together. Please note that the above statement is a rule and NOT a suggestion. Train Sizes We suggest using for all stations as this will make it easier to copy stations and add trains to the network at a later stage. This is only a suggestion and often players may decide to use a different size on some maps or use a smaller train for fluids. Please note it is forbidden to have loops in train systems.

14 Access warp list (when on warp) Respond to polls Use any warp point Stand on the warp point (or in spawn), click the other warp you wish to go to in the menu that pops up. Cool-down time is 60 seconds before you can use warps again /tag <taginfohere> /tag-clear <yourusername> /report <name> <why> Sends a message to all MOD & Admin in game AND on discord. It also logs a record of that player having been reported by you. Ingame: Announces that <player name> has been warned by a user for <reason> The In-Game chat will not say who reported who, but the Mods are shown so that they may investigate. Many reports will result in temporary jail/demotion for all but the most trusted users in the event that a Mod is not on duty and looking into it already. Regular + All from lower rank Use the deconstruction planner Place bricks, concrete and landfills Use capsules /kill <playername.capscount> A player of lower rank can be murdered by you - Please do not abuse this

15 Member+ All from lower rank Use GUI Edit Tasklist (open it and click the pencil next to the item you wish to modify) Delete Warp - Be on any warp - press trash can next to the warp you need to delete on GUI /make-warp <name> Make an in game warp point. Do NOT make one next to spawn or another warp point Use nukes /report {name} {Reason} your reports help the script jail or take action until a Mod can get there (Generally as members are trusted - it takes less member reports that guest reports to auto jail/demote someone until a mod can get on) Veteran+ All from lower rank Auto Tree Delete (loose all wood and stone caught in this tool) Use deconstruction planner (works best with Tree/Rock filter) Note: will not work if someone lower already planned decon) Use GUI Create Poll Click on the poll menu, click create new, fill in options See old polls by clicking see old polls and scrolling to see results /repair <1-10>

This is a type of MOD tool - please don't abuse /unjail <name> /set-home Uses current position as your new instant teleport location /home Teleport yourself to the location you set with /set-home If you did not yet /set-home, a home will be set for you at spawn /home has no cool-down time unlike warp points /return sends you back to where you were last when you use /home /bonus <0-50> Default is 20 Gives you a speed bonus, a inventory size bonus, and a manual mining bonus

17 Server Information Server rules This is the ingame rules on all explosivegaming servers. Make sure you are aware of all the rules so that you can have fun and avoid jail time. You can also find the rules ingame in the readme (top left corner) 1. Hacking / cheating / abusing bugs will not be tolerated. 2. Any bugs or exploits found should be reported to our team members. (excluding creative items). 3. Do not disrespect any player in the server. 4. Taking all items from a belt or logistics request is forbidden: sharing resources is mandatory. 5. Spamming (in the form of chat, bots, unlimited chests and concrete) is not allowed. 6. Do not lay down/remove concrete or stone with bots without permission. 7. Do not use active provider chests without permission. 8. Do not use speakers on global or with alerts without permission. 9. Do not remove/move major parts of the factory without permission. 10. Do not walk in random directions for no reason (to save map size and server resources). 11. Do not remove stuff without asking your fellow players. 12. Do not rotate belts, deactivate belts with wires, or cause production to stop. 13. Do not make train roundabouts. Or any loops of any kind. 14. When using trains, use the same size other players have used. 15. Trains are Left Hand Drive (LHD) only. 16. Do not complain about lag, low fps and low ups etc.

18 17. Do not ask for ranks. Our ranks are synchronized with Discord, make sure to join us there. 18. Do not advertise other servers unless you are a trusted server owner. 19. Report players who break the rules. 20. Use common sense and what an Admin says goes.

20 Ranking System User (No rank) When first joining the server you will be granted the User rank Limitations The User rank has certain limitations to prevent griefing by newbies. These limitations consist of, Users being unable to use the Deconstruction Planner, Place or Break Concrete/ Stone Bricks/Landfill. Permissions & Commands As a User you you have access to the following Commands/Permissions: /h or /help (Show a list of in-game commands) /report View the Task List View Rocket Info View Science Pack info View the ReadMe View the list of Warp Points (when currently on a warp point)

21 Ranking System Regular Regular is a temporary rank which can be obtained by playing on the server for over 3 hours And will be revoked when the server resets. Permissions & Commands As a Regular you have access to the following Commands/Permissions: All from the Previous rank Use Deconstruction Planner Use Defender Capsules

22 Ranking System Member Member is an invite-only rank and will stay even when the server resets. You can request to be invited by contacting an admin; please note: admins have other things to do and so may not get back to you straight away and asking repeatedly will lower your chances of being accepted, see below for details. Becoming Member There is no set amount of hours needed to become a Member. when you believe you've got enough playtime you can send your username in the # role-request channel in the ExplosiveGaming discord and they might promote you depending on a few factors: Activity on the Factorio Servers Activity on Discord Teamplay After receiving the Member role on discord you will automatically be promoted to a member on all ExplosiveGaming Factorio servers after the next server reset. Alternatively, you can ask a Moderator give promote you. Permissions & Commands As a Member you have access to the following Commands/Permissions: All from the Previous rank Edit the Task-List

23 /make-warp {WarpNameHere} (Create and delete Warps) Use Nukes We recommend giving an indication as to where the warp point is in regard to spawn (N, S, SW, etc.). Example: /make-warp Copper 3 [NE] Discord Privileges Members also get access to the #Members and #Introductions Discord chat. #Members is just a place where Members can discuss their plans to destroy the whole of humanity,... Ah, that didn't work... to take over the world... Damn, neither did this... to create the best factory ever! There we go! :D #Introductions is the chat where new members can write a short description of themselves so others can get to know you better.

24 Ranking System Veteran Becoming Veteran The Veteran rank is a temporary rank which is acquired by playing on an ExplosiveGaming Factorio server for 10 Hours. The rank will be removed when the server resets. In some cases this rank is made permanent for those who have been apart of the community for a very long time, this is also handed out to retired staff members as a thanks to their service. Permissions & Commands As a Veteran you have access to the following Commands/Permissions: All from the Previous rank Drop items (Z) Instant tree deconstruction Create Poll /repair (0-10)

25 Ranking System Donator Becoming Donator+ Rank Donors have 2 ways of donating. Either by a one time donation (PayPal) or by subscription (Patreon.com). The discord ranks and channels are listed below, the commands and in game perks are broken down in the Permissions & Commands section.
