1 FABULOUS FEBRUARY MISSING PARTS PREK/K 001 Instructions: Using the drawing in the box as a guide, have students draw in the missing piece in each picture.
2 FABULOUS FEBRUARY MORE OR LESS? PREK/K 002 Instructions: Have students draw a circle around each group of pictures that has more. Have them draw a square around each group of pictures that has less.
3 The days are getting longer, which means more time for shadow fun! OUTDOORS Materials: sidewalk chalk pencils paper GRADE ONE 001 Go outside on a sunny day and play with your shadow. Find out what your shadow is like. Can you catch it? Is it small? Is it big? Can you shake its hand? Can you ride it? Can you draw a shadow? Find out. Trace around shadows on the playground using sidewalk chalk. Or use a pencil to trace shadows on paper. You might even try to trace a friend s body. (Is the shadow you traced the same size as your friend?) INDOORS Materials: flashlights art paper or large table cloth white and black construction paper Use art paper or a large tablecloth to cover all sides of a table; making sure the paper or cloth reaches the floor. Give students flashlights and let them play beneath the cover to make shadows with their hands. Use a projector to create each child s silhouette on a piece of black paper. Trace the child s outline with a white crayon or chalk. Cut out and mount the silhouettes on contrasting paper. (The silhouettes make a great Valentine keepsake.) FABULOUS FEBRUARY SHADOW FUN
