2 GENERAL MANAGER S NOTE Dear Friends, Happy New Year! DeANNE HAMILTON I d like to start 2018 by expressing my sincere gratitude for including KBTC in your charitable giving last year! In doing so, you have gifted your neighbors in Western Washington with an entire year of commercial-free television. You ve also provided opportunities for all of us to gather as a community and discuss important issues. You ve supported our efforts to deliver handson educational programs to children and their families, and so much more. It s proof that if we all work together, we can inspire each other to learn more, to share more, and to be more. Our hope is that every time you engage with KBTC, a window to the world is opened for you. We do that by bringing you the best in the performing arts, intriguing and suspenseful dramas, and the thrill of scientific discovery the very best that PBS has to offer. This month, I invite you to become inspired by these stories of courage: Go along with nine people from different faiths and cultures who climb the world s highest peak for peace in Everest: A Climb for Peace; witness key developments during the fight for civil rights in Mr. Civil Rights: Thurgood Marshall and the NAACP; learn how a man with congenital disabilities overcame the odds in Get Off Your Knees: The John Robinson Story. You never know where inspiration can come from and where an idea will take you. We hope you agree KBTC is a great place to start. Best wishes for a joyous and happy Executive Director/ General Manager KBTC/KCKA, licensed to Bates Technical College, reaffirms its policy of equal opportunity and does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, color, national origin, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, marital status, disability, or status as a disabled veteran or Vietnam era veteran in its programs and activities in accordance with college policy, and applicable federal and state statutes and regulations.
