Robotics technology market is expected to reach $82.7 billion, globally, by 2020[OL]. < ion-by-2020-allied-market-research.html> The Present Development Status and the Trend of Educational Robot HUANG Rong-huai LIU De-jian XU Jing-jing CHEN Nian-xing FAN Lei ZENG Hai-jun (Smart Learning Institute, Beijing Normal University, Beijing, China ) Abstract: Educational robot is the representative of using the robot in the field of education, which is also the typical case of the artificial intelligence, speech recognition, bionic technology employed in the education, aiming at cultivating the students analytical, creative and practical abilities. This paper firstly introduced the robot and educational robot. Secondly, the world s top ten research institutions in the field of the education robot and the seven research areas of the educational robot were put forward by analyzing the literature. Finally, the twelve education robot products, the application situation and the three key technologies were discussed. Moreover, ten core points of the education robot were advanced. This paper believed that education robot was still in the beginning stage and will have broad market prospect. Many difficulties, such as the lacks of course platform, learning resources and qualified teachers were confronted during the practice of educational robot, which needed to be further explored in theory and practice.
